PREPARATION
INSTALLING BATTERIES
1. Press down on the battery compartment cover then
slide the cover in the direction of the arrowto remove
it.
2. If you are using nonrechargeable batteries, place
them into the black holder, as
indicated by the polarity
symbols (+ and –)
marked on the holder. Or,
if you are using
rechargeable batteries, place
them into the yellow holder as
indicated by the polarity symbols(+
and –) marked on the holder.
3. Placethe battery holder into the battery compartment
and replace the cover.
USING AC POWER
Attach a size B Adaptaplug to the ACadapter so the tip
reads positive (+), then insert the Adaptaplug into the
scanner’s PWRDC9Vjack. Connect the other end of the
adapter to a standardAC o utlet.

CONNECTING AN ANTENNA
1. Align the slots around the
antenna’s connector with the
tabs on the antenna jack.
OPERATION
TURNING ON THE SCANNER/SETTING VOLUME
AND SQUELCH
1. Turn SQUELCH until the indicator points to MIN before
youturnonthescanner.
2. To turn on the scanner, turn VOLUME clockwise until you
hear a hissing sound.
3. TurnSQUELCH clockwise, just until the hissing sound
stops.
4. To turn off the scanner when you finish, turn VOLUME counterclockwise to OFF.
STORING KNOWN FREQUENCIES INTO
HANNELS

1. Press MAN, enterthe channelnumber (1–200) where you want to store a
frequency, then pressPGM.
2. Use the number keys and•to enter the frequency (includingthe decimalpoint)
you want to store.
3. Press ENT to store the frequency into the channel.
4. Toprogram the next channel in sequence, press PGM and repeatSteps2 and 3.
USING VEHICLE BATTERY POWER
Attach a size B Adaptaplug to the DC adapter so the tip
reads positive (+), set the adapter’s voltage switch to 9V,
then insert the Adaptaplug into the scanner’sPWRDC9V
jack. Plug the other end of the DC adapter into your
vehicle’s cigarette-lighter socket.

PREPARACIÓN

EMPLEO DE CORRIENTE ALTERNA
Conecte un adaptador Adaptaplugdetamaño“B”aladaptador
de corriente alterna de manera que la punta indiquepositivo
(+), y después introduzcael adaptador Adaptaplug en el
enchufe PWRDC9Vdel r adioescáner. C onecte el otro
extremo del adaptador en una toma de corriente alterna (C.A.)
estándar.
