Heed all warnings and safety information in these instructions and on the
product itself. Follow all operating instructions.

Clean the enclosure only with a dry cloth or a vacuum cleaner.
You must allow 10 cm or 4 inches of unobstructed clearance around the

unit. Do not place the unit on a bed, sofa, rug, or similar surface that could
block the ventilation slots. If the component is placed in a bookcase or
cabinet, there must be ventilation of the cabinet to allow proper cooling.

Keep the component away from radiators, heat registers, stoves, or any
other appliance that produces heat.

The unit must be connected to a power supply only of the type and volt­age specified on the rear panel of the unit.

Connect the component to the power outlet only with the supplied power
supply cable or an exact equivalent. Do not modify the supplied cable in
any way. Do not attempt to defeat grounding and/or polarization provi­sions. Do not use extension cords.

Do not route the power cord where it will be crushed, pinched, bent at
severe angles, exposed to heat, or damaged in any way. Pay particular
attention to the power cord at the plug and where it exits the back of the
unit.

The power cord should be unplugged from the wall outlet if the unit is to
be left unused for a long period of time.

Immediately stop using the component and have it inspected and/or ser­viced by a qualified service agency if:

• The power supply cord or plug has been damaged.

• Objects have fallen or liquid has been spilled into the unit.

• The unit has been exposed to rain.

• The unit shows signs of improper operation

• The unit has been dropped or damaged in any way
Place the unit on a fixed, level surface strong enough

to support its weight. Do not place it on a moveable
cart that could tip over.

Getting Started

Thank you for purchasing the Rotel RB-1050
Stereo Power Amplifier. When used in a high­quality music or home theater system, your
Rotel amplifier will provide years of musical
enjoyment.

The RB-1050 is a high-power, two-channel
power amplifier, providing the highest level
of audio performance. Discrete output devices,
a massive power supply, premium components,
and Rotel’s Balanced Design ensure superb
sound quality. High current capability allows
the RB-1050 to drive the most demanding loud­speakers.

Be aware that the RB-1050 is capable of high
power levels, in excess of 70 watts per channel.
Make sure that your speakers can handle the
power of the RB-1050. If in doubt about your
speakers, ask your local Rotel audio dealer
for advice.

The RB-1050 is straightforward in its instal­lation and operation. If you have experience
with other stereo power amplifiers, you
shouldn’t find anything perplexing. Plug in a
pair of high-quality RCA cables from your
preamp into the amplifier inputs, wire up your
speakers, and enjoy.

A Few Precautions

Please read this manual carefully. In addition
to basic installation and operating instructions,
it provides valuable information on various
RB-1050 system configurations as well as gen­eral information that will help you get opti­mum performance from your system. Please
contact your authorized Rotel dealer for an­swers to any questions you might have. In ad­dition, all of us at Rotel welcome your ques­tions and comments.

Save the RB-1050 shipping carton and all en­closed packing material for future use. Ship­ping or moving the RB-1050 in anything other
than the original packing material may re­sult in severe damage to your amplifier.

Fill out and send in the owner’s registration
card packed with the RB-1050. Also be sure
to keep the original sales receipt. It is your
best record of the date of purchase, which you
will need in the event warranty service is ever
required.

Placement

The RB-1050 generates heat as part of its nor­mal operation. The heat sinks and ventilation
openings in the amplifier are designed to
dissipate this heat. The ventilation slots in the
top cover must be open. There should be 10
cm (4 inches) of clearance around the chas­sis, and reasonable airflow through the in­stallation location, to prevent the amplifier from
overheating.

Likewise, remember the weight of the ampli­fier when you select an installation location.
Make sure that the shelf or cabinet can sup­port its considerable bulk. Again, use com­mon sense.

AC Power and Control

AC Power Input

Because of its high power rating, the RB-1050
can draw considerable current. Therefore, it
should be plugged directly into a 2-pin po­larized wall outlet. Do not use an extension
cord. A heavy duty multi-tap power outlet strip
may be used if it (and the wall outlet) is rated
to handle the current demanded by the
RB-1050 and all the other components con­nected to it.

Be sure the Power Switch on the front panel
of the RB-1050 is turned off (in the out posi­tion). Then, connect the supplied power cord
to the Power Connector
of the amplifier and to the AC power outlet.

Your RB-1050 is configured at the factory for
the proper AC line voltage in the country where
you purchased it (either 115 volts AC or 230
volts AC with a line frequency of either 50
Hz or 60 Hz). The AC line configuration is
noted on a decal on the back panel.

Note:

Should you move your RB-1050
amplifier to another country, it is possible
to reconfigure your amplifier for use on a
different line voltage. Do not attempt to
perform this conversion yourself. Opening
the enclosure of the RB-1050 exposes you
to dangerous voltages. Consult a qualified
service person or the Rotel factory service
department for information.

If you are going to be away from home for
an extended period of time such as a month­long vacation, it is a sensible precaution to
unplug your amplifier (as well as other au­dio and video components) while you are
away.

Power Switch and Power
Indicator

The power switch is located on the front panel
of your amplifier. To turn the amplifier on, push
the switch in. The LED indicator above the
switch will light, indicating that the amplifier
is turned on. To turn the amplifier off, push
the button again and return it to the out po­sition.

12V Trigger Mode Selector

The Amplifier provides the option for manual
or automatic power on/off operation. These
modes are selectable using a switch on the
back panel.

NOTE: The front panel Power Switch
must be ON for the automatic turn on sys­tem to work.

When the switch is in the “12V TRIG” posi­tion, the amplifier is turned on automatically
when a 12V trigger signal is present at the

The amplifier will go into standby mode af­ter a delay of 5 minutes if the +12V signal is
not present.

When the switch is in the “SIGNAL SENSE”
position the amplfier is turned on whenever
an audio signal is applied to the Inputs
If no audio signal is applied to the inputs the
amplifier will return to standby mode after a
delay of 5 minutes.

When the switch is in the “OFF” position the
automatic activation system is turned off. Only
the front panel Power Switch will control the
amplifier.

12V Trigger Input
and Output

The jack labeled IN is for connecting the

3.5mm Plug/Cable carrying a +12 volt trig­ger signal to turn the amplifier on and off.
To use this feature the front panel Power Switch
must be set to the ON position. This input ac­cepts any control signal (AC or DC) ranging
from 3 volts to 30 volts.

The jack labeled OUT is for connecting an­other 3.5mm plug/cable to provide a 12V
trigger signal to other components. The 12V
output signal is available whenever a +12 volt
trigger signal is applied to the IN connector.

Circuit Breaker

A circuit breaker on the rear panel protects
the amplifier’s electrical circuity. Generally, the
circuit breaker will only open under a fault
condition which results in excessive current
draw. To reset the circuit breaker, press the
button. Should it repeatedly open, contact your
authorized Rotel dealer for troubleshooting
assistance.

Protection Circuitry

The RB-1050 features a thermal protection cir­cuit that protects the amplifier against potential
damage in the event of extreme or faulty
operating conditions. Unlike many designs,
the RB-1050’s protection circuit is indepen­dent of the audio signal and has no impact
on sonic performance. Instead, the protection
circuit monitors the temperature of the output
devices and shuts down the amplifier if tem­peratures exceed safe limits.

Most likely, you will never see this protection
circuitry in action. However, should a faulty
condition arise, the amplifier will stop play­ing and the LED indicator on the front panel
will light up.

If this happens, turn the amplifier off, let it cool
down for several minutes, and attempt to iden-

tify and correct the problem that caused the
protection circuitry to engage. When you turn
the amplifier back on, the protection circuit
will automatically reset and the indicator LED
should go out.

In most cases, the protection circuitry activates
because of a fault condition such as shorted
speaker wires, or inadequate ventilation lead­ing to an overheating condition. In very rare
cases, highly reactive or extremely low im­pedance speaker loads could cause the pro­tection circuit to engage.

If the protection circuitry triggers repeatedly
and you are unable to isolate and correct the
faulty condition, contact your authorized Rotel
dealer for assistance in troubleshooting.

Clipping Indicators

Each channel has a Clipping Indicator on the
front panel. “Clippping” occurs when an am­plifier it driven to the point it begins to pro­duce distortion. The term refers to the flattening
or “clipping” of the musical waveform that
occurs when an amplifier is driven beyond
its rated power. If the Clipping Indicators light,
reduce the volume level of the system. Fail­ure to so do could result in damage to the
speakers connected to the amplifier. It may
also cause the Protection Circuit to activate.

Input Signal Connections

See Figure 2

The RB-1050 has conventional RCA type in­put connectors, the type found on nearly all
audio equipment.

NOTE: To prevent loud potentially damag­ing noises, make sure the amplifier is
turned off when you make any changes to
the input signal configuration.

Select high quality audio interconnect cables.
Connect each of the outputs from the pream­plifier or signal processor to the correspond­ing input of the RB-1050. Typically the left
channel signal is connected to Channel 1 and
the right channel signal is connected to Chan­nel 2.

Front Panel Level Controls

The Level controls on the front panel let you
control the output volume of the RB-1050. In
most systems these controls should be turned
up all the way (full clockwise position). In some
situations, such as when the amplifier is part
of a multi-room or bi-amplified speaker sys­tem, it may be necessary to reduce the out­put level. Use a small flat blade screwdriver
to turn the controls down (counterclockwise)
as needed.

Turning down the level does not reduce the
maximum output of the amplifier. It simply
increases the input signal required to achieve
maximum output power.

Speaker Connection

Speaker Selection

We recommend using loudspeakers with a
nominal impedance of 4 ohms or higher with
the RB-1050. You should exercise some cau­tion in driving multiple pairs of speakers in
parallel configuration, because the effective
impedance the amplifier sees is cut in half.
For example, when driving two pair of 8 ohm
speakers, the amplifier sees a 4 ohm load.
When driving multiple speakers in parallel,
it is recommended that you select speakers
with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms or higher.
Speaker impedance ratings are less than
precise. In practice, very few loudspeakers will
present any problems for the RB-1050. See
your authorized Rotel dealer if you have any
questions.

Speaker Wire Selection

Use insulated two-conductor stranded wire to
connect the RB-1050 to the speakers. The size
and quality of the wire can have an audible
effect on the performance of the system. Stan­dard speaker wire will work, but can result
in lower output or diminished bass response,
particularly over longer distances. In general,
heavier wire will improve the sound. For best
performance, you may want to consider spe­cial high-quality speaker cables. Your autho­rized Rotel dealer can help in the selection
of appropriate cables for your system.

Polarity and Phasing

Speaker Connection

The RB-1050 has two pairs of color coded
binding posts on the back panel. These con­nectors accept bare wire, connector lugs, or
dual banana type connectors (except in the
European Community countries where their
use is not permitted).

Route the wire from the RB-1050 to the speak­ers. Give yourself enough slack so you can
move the components enough to allow access
to the speaker connectors.

If you are using dual banana plugs, connect
them to the wires and then plug into the backs
of the binding posts. The hexagonal thumb­screws of the binding posts should be screwed
in all the way (clockwise).

If you are using terminal lugs, connect them
to the wires. If you are attaching bare wires
directly to the binding posts, separate the wire
conductors and strip back the insulation from
the end of each conductor. Be careful not to
cut into the wire strands. Unscrew (turn coun­terclockwise) the binding post hexagonal
thumbscrews. Place the connector lug or wire
around the binding post shaft. Turn the hex­agonal thumbscrews clockwise to clamp the
connector lug or wire firmly in place.

NOTE: Be sure there are no loose wire
strands that could touch adjacent wires or
connectors.

“Signal Output Link”
Connectors

The input signal that is goes into the normal
Inputs also goes to the Signal Output Link
connectors. This is typically used when the
amplifier is part of a multi-room system. The
signal from the Signal Output Link is then used
to provide a signal to the other amplifiers in
the system.

The polarity — the positive/negative orien­tation of the connections — for every speaker
and amplifier connection must be consistent
so all the speakers will be in phase. If the po­larity of one connection is mistakenly reversed,
bass output will be very weak and stereo im­aging degraded. All wire is marked so you
can identify the two conductors. There may
be ribs or a stripe on the insulation of one
conductor. The wire may have clear insula­tion with different color conductors (copper
and silver). There may be polarity indications
printed on the insulation. Identify the positive
and negative conductors and be consistent with
every speaker and amplifier connection.

Troubleshooting

Most difficulties in audio systems are the re­sult of poor or wrong connections, or improper
control settings. If you encounter problems,
isolate the area of the difficulty, check the con­trol settings, determine the cause of the fault
and make the necessary changes. If you are
unable to get sound from the RB-1050, refer
to the suggestions for the following conditions:

Front Panel Power Indicator
Is Not Lit

No main power to the RB-1050. Check the
front panel power switch. Make sure that it
is set to the On position. Check AC power con­nections at the amplifier and the AC outlet.

No Sound

If the amp is getting AC power, but is pro­ducing no sound, check the Protection indi­cator on the front panel. If it is lit, see below.
Also check the front panel Level Controls to
see if they are turned up. Then check all of
your connections and control settings on as­sociated components.

Protection Indicator Is Lit

The front panel indicator lights when the
RB-1050 protection circuits have shut off the
amplifier. Typically, this occurs only when the
ventilation openings are blocked, when there
is faulty speaker wiring, or after a period of
extreme use. Turn off the system and wait for
the amp to cool. Then push the front panel
power switch in and out to reset the protec­tion devices. If the problem is not corrected
or reoccurs, there is a problem with the sys­tem or the amplifier itself.

Merci d’avoir acheté cet amplificateur de
puissance stéréophonique Rotel RB-1050. Il␣ a
été spécialement conçu pour contribuer à des
heures et des heures de plaisir musical, que
vous l’utilisiez dans une chaîne haute fidélité
ou au sein d’un système Home Cinema.

Le RB-1050 est un amplificateur de puissance
deux canaux haute performance, de construc­tion extrêmement robuste, capable de fournir
une puissance très élevée telle qu’elle est
demandée aujourd’hui par les sources les plus
modernes. Des composants de sortie
indépendants de type discrets, une grosse
alimentation équipée de composants de pre­mier choix, ainsi que le principe de concep­tion Rotel «␣ Balanced Design␣ » garantissent
des performances sonores remarquables. Sa
très haute capacité en courant permet au RB­1050 d’alimenter les enceintes acoustiques
les plus difficiles.

N’oubliez jamais que le RB-1050 est capable
de fournir des puissances élevées, jusqu’à 70
watts par canal sur 8␣ ohms. Vérifiez que vos
enceintes sont bien en mesure de faire face
à une telle puissance. Dans le doute, n’hésitez
pas à demander conseil à votre revendeur

Le RB-1050 ne présente aucune difficulté quant
à son installation. Vous n’éprouverez aucun
problème, surtout si vous connaissez déjà le
principe des amplificateurs de puissance.
Branchez des câbles de modulation Cinch­RCA à partir de votre préamplificateur ou
processeur de signal, connectez vos enceintes
acoustiques, puis écoutez␣ !

soigneusement. Il vous donne toutes les infor­mations nécessaires aux branchements et
fonctionnement du RB-1050. Si vous vous
posez encore des questions, n’hésitez pas à
contacter immédiatement votre revendeur
agréé Rotel.

Conservez soigneusement l’emballage du RB-

1050. Il constitue le meilleur et le plus sûr
moyen pour le transport futur de votre nouvel
appareil. Tout autre emballage pourrait en effet
entraîner des détériorations irréversibles à
l’appareil.

Conservez la facture de votre appareil␣ : c’est
la meilleure preuve de votre propriété et de
la date réelle d’achat. Elle vous sera utile en
cas de nécessité de retour au service après­vente.

Positionnement

Comme la plupart des maillons haute fidélité
traversés par des courants élevés, le RB-1050
dégage une certaine quantité␣ de chaleur pen­dant son fonctionnement. C’est pourquoi il
possède un radiateur de refroidissement in­terne et des ouïes de ventilation. Ne bloquez
donc pas ses ouïes supérieures de
refroidissement. Il doit y avoir environ 10␣ cm
de dégagement tout autour lui pour permettre
le bon fonctionnement de sa ventilation, et une
bonne circulation d’air tout autour du meuble
qui le supporte.

N’oubliez pas non plus, lors de son installa­tion, qu’il s’agit d’un appareil lourd. L’étagère
ou le support utilisés doivent être suffisamment
robustes et rigides␣ : dans ce domaine, le sens
commun s’applique.

Alimentation secteur et
mise sous tension

Prise d’alimentation secteur

Compte tenu de la puissance qu’il peut délivrer,
l’amplificateur RB-1050 peut demander un
courant très élevé. Cependant, il est conçu pour
se contenter d’une prise murale deux broches.
N’utilisez pas de câble rallonge␣ ! Une prise
multiple pourra éventuellement être utilisée,
mais seulement si elle possède la capacité en
courant (ampères) demandée par le RB-1050
et les autres appareils branchés conjointement.

Assurez-vous que l’interrupteur de mise sous
tension POWER SWITCH, en face avant, est
bien en position «␣ éteint␣ » (OFF). Branchez
alors le cordon secteur en face arrière sur la
prise repérée POWER CONNECTOR
l’autre extrémité dans la prise murale
d’alimentation.

Votre RB-1050 a été configuré en usine pour
la tension d’alimentation secteur du pays pour
lequel il est prévu (115 ou 230 volts, fréquence
50 ou 60␣ Hz). Cette valeur est indiquée sur
une étiquette, en face arrière.

Interrupteur de mise sous
tension et indicateur

L’interrupteur de mise sous tension se trouve
au centre de la face avant. Il suffit d’appuyer
dessus pour mettre l’amplificateur sous ten­sion. La diode placée juste au-dessus s’allume
alors. Une nouvelle pression sur l’interrupteur
éteint l’appareil.

Sélecteur de mode
Trigger 12 V

Cet amplificateur vous propose la possibilité
de piloter ou non sa mise sous tension. Les
trois modes disponibles sont sélectionnés via
un sélecteur placé en face arrière.

NOTE␣ : l’interrupteur en face doit être
pressé («␣ ON␣ ») pour que les modes de
mise sous tension automatique ci-dessous
soient actifs.

Lorsque le sélecteur est placé sur la position
repérée «␣ 12V TRIG␣ », l’amplificateur s’allume
automatiquement lorsqu’une tension de
12␣ volts est envoyée sur sa prise repérée
TRIGGER IN. Il se remet en mode de veille
Standby dès que cette tension disparaît sur
la prise, au bout de cinq minutes.

Lorsque le sélecteur est placé sur la position
«␣ SIGNAL SENSE␣ », l’amplificateur se met
automatiquement sous tension lorsqu’il détecte
la présence effective d’une modulation sonore
sur ses prises d’entrée modulation. Si ce sig­nal audio disparaît, l’amplificateur se met
automatiquement en mode de veille au bout
de cinq minutes.

Lorsque le sélecteur est placé sur la position
«␣ OFF␣ », l’activation automatique est mise hors
service␣ : seul l’interrupteur général de la face
avant détermine la mise sous tension effec­tive de l’appareil.

Entrée et sortie Trigger
12␣ volts

La prise repérée IN est prévue pour transporter
la tension de 12␣ volts nécessaire au
fonctionnement de la commutation TRIGGER
que nous venons de décrire. Pour être efficace,
le sélecteur TRIGGER doit être sur sa position
ON. Cette entrée accepte en fait une tension
continue ou alternative, d’une valeur comprise
entre 3 et 30␣ volts.

La prise repérée OUT permet de brancher une
autre prise jack 3,5␣ mm pour renvoyer la
tension de commutation vers un autre appareil.
La tension 12␣ volts n’est toutefois présente que
si la prise IN est réellement alimentée par une
telle tension.

Disjoncteur

Un disjoncteur à réarmement manuel se trouve
sur la face arrière. Il n’entrera en service que
si une anomalie se produit, par exemple la
présence d’un courant excessif dans les cir­cuits électroniques de l’amplificateur. Pour
réarmer ce disjoncteur, pressez simplement
sur son bouton. S’il se déclenche à nouveau
et à plusieurs reprises, contactez votre
revendeur agréé Rotel.

Circuit de protection

Le RB-1050 possède un circuit de protection
thermique interne, qui le protège contre tout
dommage éventuel dû à des conditions de
fonctionnement anormales ou extrêmes.
Contrairement à la majorité des autres
amplificateurs de puissance, ce circuit est
totalement indépendant du trajet du signal
audio, et n’a donc aucune influence sur les
performances musicales. Ce circuit contrôle
aussi en permanence la température des
étages de sortie, et coupe automatiquement
l’amplificateur si celle-ci dépasse une valeur
normale.

Normalement, vous ne verrez jamais ces di­odes s’allumer. En cas de problème,
l’amplificateur se coupera automatiquement,
et les diodes s’allumeront.

Si cela arrive, éteignez immédiatement
l’amplificateur. Laissez le refroidir quelques
minutes, que vous mettrez à profit pour iden­tifier et corriger le problème (branchements,
court-circuit,␣ etc.). Lorsque vous remettrez
l’amplificateur sous tension, le circuit de pro­tection se réinitialisera automatiquement et les
diodes s’éteindront.

Dans la plupart des cas, la mise en service
de la protection est due à un court-circuit dans
les câbles des enceintes acoustiques, ou à
cause d’un mauvais respect de la ventilation
correcte de l’amplificateur. Dans de très rares
cas, la charge à très faible impédance ou très
réactive de certaines enceintes acoustiques
peut entraîner la mise en service de la pro­tection.

Si la protection se met en service de manière
répétée sans que vous ne puissiez en localiser
l’origine, contactez votre revendeur agréé Rotel
pour une assistance rapide.

Indicateurs d’écrêtage

Chaque canal possède sa diode indicatrice
d’écrêtage en face avant. L’écrêtage se produit
lorsque l’amplificateur commence à travailler
au-dessus de sa limite de puissance délivrée,
ce qui produit de la distorsion␣ : la courbe
sinusoïdale de la musique commence à
«␣ s’aplatir␣ » sur les forte. Si ces diodes
commencent à clignoter, réduisez simplement
le volume sonore. Si vous ne le faites pas, vous
risquez d’endommager vos enceintes
acoustiques, avant que les circuits de protection
de l’amplificateur n’interviennent en coupant
le son.

Le RB-1050 possède des prises d’entrée
conventionnelles Cinch-RCA, du type de celles
que l’on trouve sur la grande majorité des
autres maillons haute fidélité.

Note␣ : pour éviter des bruits parasites
susceptibles de détériorer les enceintes
acoustiques, éteignez l’amplificateur pen­dant les branchements␣ !

Ne choisissez que des câbles audio RCA
d’excellente qualité. Branchez les sorties du
préamplificateur ou du processeur sonore sur
les entrées correspondantes du RB-1050.
Généralement, on branche le canal gauche
sur l’entrée repérée «␣ Channel␣ 1␣ » et le ca­nal droit sur l’entrée repérée «␣ Channel␣ B␣ ».

Réglages de gain
en face avant

Ces réglages de gain placés en face avant
vous permettent de régler le niveau de sortie
du RB-1050. Dans la plupart des cas, ils seront
laissés en position maximum (tournés
complètement dans le sens des aiguilles d’une
montre). Mais dans certains cas – système
multicanaux, multi-room ou enceintes bi­amplifiées␣ -, il pourra être nécessaire de
diminuer le gain grâce à ces potentiomètres.
Pour ce faire, utilisez la lame d’un petit
tournevis.

Le fait de diminuer le gain en entrée ne diminue
pas la puissance de sortie maximum de
l’amplificateur. En fait, c’est le niveau du signal
en entrée qui permet ou non d’atteindre la
puissance maximum disponible en sortie.

Prises «␣ de renvoi␣ »
modulation

On retrouve sur ces prises repérées «␣ Signal
Output Link␣ » exactement le même signal que
celui qui entre sur les prises de modulation
RCA. Cette sortie sera très utile dans tous les
systèmes qui utilisent plusieurs amplificateurs
de puissance, typiquement dans les installa­tions multicanaux ou multi-room.

Branchement des
enceintes acoustiques

Choix des enceintes

L’impédance nominale de chaque enceinte
branchée sur le RB-1050 doit être d’au moins
4␣ ohms. En effet, lorsqu’un amplificateur
alimente plus d’une enceinte en parallèle,
l’impédance résultante est divisée par deux.
Par exemple, deux enceintes, de 8␣ ohms
chacune, branchée simultanément sur le même
canal donnent une impédance de 4␣ ohms, vue
par l’amplificateur. Si vous branchez deux
enceintes sur le même canal, choisissez des
modèles d’impédance nominale 8␣ ohms, car
celle-ci descend en pratique souvent au­dessous de cette valeur. Cela dit, seules
quelques rares enceintes acoustiques risquent
de poser problème avec le RB-1050. En cas
de doute, consultez votre revendeur agréé
Rotel.

Choix de la section du câble
d’enceintes

Utilisez du câble deux conducteurs isolés pour
relier le RB-1050 aux enceintes. La taille et
la qualité du câble peuvent avoir de l’influence
sur les performances musicales. Un câble stan­dard fonctionnera, mais il peut présenter des
limitations quant à la dynamique réellement
reproduite ou à la qualité du grave, surtout
sur de grandes longueurs. En général, un câble
de plus fort diamètre entraîne une amélioration
du son. Pour des performances optimales,
penchez-vous sur l’offre en terme de câbles
de très haute qualité. Votre revendeur agréé
Rotel est en mesure de vous renseigner
efficacement à ce sujet.

Polarité et mise en phase

La polarité – autrement dit l’orientation correcte
du «␣ +␣ » et du «␣ -␣ » pour chaque branchement
entre l’amplificateur et le RB-1050, et entre
le RB-1050 et les enceintes acoustiques doit
être respecté pour toutes les enceintes, afin
que celles-ci soient toutes en phase. Si la phase
d’une seule enceinte est inversée, il en résultera
un manque de grave sensible et une
dégradation importante de l’image
stéréophonique. Tous les câbles sont repérés
afin que vous puissiez identifier clairement
leurs deux conducteurs. Soit les câbles sont
différents (un cuivré, un argenté), soit la gaine
est de couleur différente (filet de couleur), soit
elle est gravée. Assurez-vous que vous repérez
bien le conducteur repéré pour toutes les li­aisons, et que vous respectez parfaitement la
phase sur toutes les enceintes acoustiques, par
rapport à l’entrée.

Branchement des enceintes

Le RB-1050 est équipé de deux paires de
bornes vissantes repérées par leur code de
couleur noir (-) et rouge (+). Ces prises
acceptent indifféremment du câble nu, des
cosses ou fourches spéciales, ou encore des
fiches banane (sauf en Europe, où les nouvelles
normes CE l’interdisent).

Tirez le câble de l’amplificateur vers les
enceintes acoustiques. Prévoyez suffisamment
de longueur pour qu’il ne subisse aucune
contrainte sur toute sa longueur et que vous
puissiez déplacer les éléments sans qu’il soit
tendu (accès aux prises de l’amplificateur).

Si vous utilisez des fourches, insérez-les à fond
dans le logement offert par les prises et serrez
fermement. Si vous utilisez du fil nu, dénudez
tous les câbles sur une longueur suffisante,
et torsadez les brins de chaque conducteur
de telle manière qu’aucun brin ne puisse venir
en contact avec un autre d’un autre conducteur
(court-circuit). Suivant la taille des torsades,
insérez-les dans les trous centraux des prises
ou entourez-le autour des axes de celles-ci
(sens des aiguilles d’une montre). Dans tous
les cas, serrez fermement à la main les bornes
vissantes.

NOTE␣ : Vérifiez bien qu’il n’y ait aucun
brin qui vienne en contact avec des brins
ou la prise adjacente.

Problèmes de
fonctionnement

La majorité des problèmes survenant dans une
installation haute fidélité est due à de mauvais
branchements, ou à une mauvaise utilisation
d’un ou de plusieurs maillons. Si le problème
est bien lié au RB-1050, il s’agit très
certainement d’un mauvais branchement. Voici
quelques vérifications de base qui résolvent
la majorité des problèmes rencontrés␣ :

L’indicateur Power de mise
sous tension ne s’allume pas

L’amplificateur RB-1050 n’est pas alimenté par
le secteur. Vérifiez la position de l’interrupteur
de mise sous tension Power (position ON).
Vérifiez la qualité des contacts du cordon
secteur, et l’alimentation réelle de la prise
murale.

Pas de son

Si l’amplificateur est bien sous tension mais
qu’aucun son n’en sort, regardez les diodes
de protection «␣ Protection␣ » sur la face avant.
Si elles sont allumées, voir le paragraphe
suivant. Si elles sont éteintes, vérifiez tous les
maillons du système, la qualité des
branchements et la position des diverses
commandes. Vérifiez aussi la position des
réglages de gain en face avant.

Diodes de protection
allumées

Le circuit de protection est entré en
fonctionnement et les diodes Protection sont
allumées. Cela arrive quand les ouïes
d’aération ont été obstruées, quand il y a un
court-circuit dans les sorties enceintes, ou si
l’amplificateur a fonctionné très longtemps à
puissance maximum. Éteignez l’amplificateur
et attendez qu’il refroidisse. Le fait d’appuyer
à nouveau sur l’interrupteur de mise sous
tension Power pour rallumer l’appareil
entraînera la réinitialisation automatique des
circuits de protection. Si la protection se remet
à fonctionner, il y a un problème dans le
système ou l’amplificateur lui-même.

Gebrauch des Gerätes genau durch. Sie enthält
wichtige Sicherheitsvorschriften, die unbedingt zu
beachten sind! Bewahren Sie die Bedienungsanleitung
so auf, daß sie jederzeit zugänglich ist.

WARNUNG: Außer den in der Bedienungsanleitung
beschriebenen Handgriffen sollten vom Bediener keine
Arbeiten am Gerät vorgenommen werden. Das Gerät
ist ausschließlich von einem qualifizierten Fachmann
zu öffnen und zu reparieren.

WARNUNG: Dieses Gerät darf nur in trockenen
Räumen betrieben werden. Um die Gefahr von Feuer
oder eines elektrischen Schlages auszuschließen,
dürfen keine Flüssigkeiten oder Fremdkörper in das
Gerät gelangen. Sollte dieser Fall trotzdem einmal
eintreten, trennen Sie das Gerät sofort vom Netz ab.

Dieses Gerät sollte, wie andere Elektrogeräte auch, nicht
unbeaufsichtigt betrieben werden.

Ist das Gerät z.B. während des Transportes über längere Zeit
Kälte ausgesetzt worden, so warten Sie mit der Inbetriebnahme,
bis es sich auf Raumtemperatur erwärmt hat und das
Kondenswasser verdunstet ist.

Oberhalb des Gerätes sollte ein Freiraum von 10 cm vorhanden
sein. Stellen Sie das Gerät daher weder auf ein Bett, Sofa,
Teppich oder ähnliche Oberflächen. Ferner sollte es nicht an
einem Ort aufgestellt werden, an dem keine ausreichende
Luftzufuhr gegeben ist, zum Beispiel in einem engen Regalfach
oder in einem Einbauschrank.

Stellen Sie das Gerät nicht in die Nähe von Wärmequellen
(Heizkörper, Wärmespeicher, Öfen oder sonstige
wärmeerzeugende Geräte).

Bevor Sie das Gerät in Betrieb nehmen, prüfen Sie, ob die
Betriebsspannung mit der örtlichen Netzspannung
übereinstimmt. Die Betriebsspannung ist an der Rückseite des
Gerätes angegeben.

Schließen Sie das Gerät nur mit dem dazugehörigen zweipoligen
Netzkabel an die Wandsteckdose an. Modifizieren Sie das
Netzkabel auf keinen Fall. Versuchen Sie nicht, die Erdungs­und/oder Polarisationsvorschriften zu umgehen. Das Netzkabel
sollte an eine zweipolige Wandsteckdose angeschlossen werden.
Verwenden Sie keine Verlängerungskabel.

Netzkabel sind so zu verlegen, daß sie nicht beschädigt werden
können (z.B. durch Trittbelastung, Möbelstücke oder
Erwärmung). Besondere Vorsicht ist dabei an den Steckern,
Verteilern und den Anschlußstellen des Gerätes geboten.

Sollten Sie das Gerät für eine längere Zeit nicht in Betrieb
nehmen, ziehen Sie den Netzstecker aus der Steckdose.

Schalten Sie das Gerät sofort aus und ziehen Sie geschultes
Fachpersonal zu Rate, wenn:

• das Netzkabel oder der Stecker beschädigt sind,

• Gegenstände bzw. Flüssigkeit in das Gerät gelangt sind,

• das Gerät Regen ausgesetzt war,

• das Gerät nicht ordnungsgemäß funktioniert bzw. eine

deutliche Leistungsminderung aufweist,

Ziehen Sie den Netzstecker aus der Steckdose, bevor Sie mit
der Reinigung des Gerätes beginnen. Reinigen Sie die
Oberflächen des Gerätes nur mit einem weichen, trockenen
Tuch. Verwenden Sie keine scharfen Reinigungs- oder
Lösungsmittel. Vor der erneuten Inbetriebnahme des Gerätes
ist sicherzustellen, daß an den Anschlußstellen keine
Kurzschlüsse bestehen und alle Anschlüsse ordnungsgemäß
sind.

Stellen Sie das Gerät waagerecht auf
eine feste, ebene Unterlage. Es
sollte weder auf beweglichen
Unterlagen noch Wagen oder
fahrbaren Untergestellen
transportiert werden.

Die Firma Rotel

Die Firma Rotel wurde vor 40 Jahren von einer
Familie gegründet, deren Interesse an Musik
so groß war, daß sie beschloß, hochwertigste
HiFi-Produkte herzustellen und
Musikliebhabern ungeachtet ihres Geldbeutels
einen außergewöhnlichen Wert zukommen zu
lassen. Ein Ziel, das von allen Rotel­Angestellten verfolgt wird.

Die Ingenieure arbeiten als Team eng
zusammen. Sie hören sich jedes neue Produkt
an und stimmen es klanglich ab, bis es den
gewünschten Musikstandards entspricht. Die
eingesetzten Bauteile stammen aus
verschiedenen Ländern und wurden
ausgewählt, um das jeweilige Produkt zu
optimieren. So finden Sie in Rotel-Geräten

Deutschland, Halbleiter aus Japan oder den
USA und direkt bei Rotel gefertigte
Ringkerntransformatoren.

Zu dieser Anleitung

Vielen Dank, daß Sie sich für die Rotel-RB­1050 entschieden haben. Diese leistungsstarke
Stereo-Endstufe kann optimal in jedem
hochwertigen HiFi- oder HiFi-Cinema-System
eingesetzt werden.

Die RB-1050 überzeugt durch höchste
Wiedergabequalität. Dafür sorgen
hochwertige Leistungstransistoren, ein
großzügig dimensioniertes Netzteil,
erstklassige Bauteile und Rotels Balanced­Design-Konzept. Aufgrund der hohen
Stromlieferfähigkeit kann die RB-1050
problemlos mit anspruchsvollen Lautsprechern
betrieben werden.

Umgekehrt sollten Sie darauf achten, daß die
RB-1050 nur mit Lautsprechern kombiniert
wird, die 70 Watt/Kanal standhalten. Sollten
Sie hierzu Fragen haben, wenden Sie sich bitte
an Ihren autorisierten Rotel-Fachhändler.

Die RB-1050 ist einfach zu installieren und
zu bedienen. Sollten Sie bereits Erfahrung mit
der Installation anderer Endstufen haben,
dürften keinerlei Probleme auftreten. Verbinden
Sie die Ausgänge Ihres Vorverstärkers bzw.
Signalprozessors mit den Eingängen Ihrer
Endstufe. Verwenden Sie dazu qualitativ
hochwertige Cinch-Kabel. Verbinden Sie
anschließend die Lautsprecher mit der
RB-1050.

Einige Vorsichtsmaßnahmen

Lesen Sie sich die Bedienungsanleitung bitte
vor der Inbetriebnahme genau durch. Neben
grundsätzlichen Installations- und
Bedienungshinweisen (bitte beachten Sie auch
die Sicherheits- und Warnhinweise am Anfang
der Bedienungsanleitung) enthält sie
allgemeine Informationen, die Ihnen helfen
werden, Ihr System mit seiner maximalen
Leistungsfähigkeit zu betreiben. Bitte setzen
Sie sich bei etwaigen Fragen mit Ihrem
autorisierten Rotel-Fachhändler in Verbindung.

Bewahren Sie den Versandkarton und das
übrige Verpackungsmaterial der RB-1050 für
einen eventuellen späteren Einsatz auf. Der
Versand oder Transport der Endstufe in einer
anderen als der Originalverpackung kann zu
erheblichen Beschädigungen führen.

Schicken Sie die Ihrer Endstufe beiliegende
Garantieanforderungskarte ausgefüllt an den
Rotel-Distributor in Ihrem Land. Bewahren Sie
bitte die Original-Kaufquittung auf. Sie belegt
am besten das Kaufdatum, das für Sie wichtig
wird, sobald Sie eine Garantieleistung in
Anspruch nehmen.

Aufstellung des Gerätes

Die RB-1050 erwärmt sich während des
Betriebes. Diese Wärme kann unter normalen
Bedingungen über die Kühlrippen und
Ventilationsöffnungen der Endstufe problemlos
abgeführt werden. Achten Sie aus diesem
Grund darauf, daß die Ventilationsöffnungen
an der Oberseite nicht verdeckt werden. Um
das Gehäuse sollte ein Freiraum von 10 cm
bestehen, um eine ausreichende Luftzirkulation
zu gewährleisten und die Endstufe so vor
Überhitzung zu schützen.

Berücksichtigen Sie beim Aufbau das Gewicht
der Endstufe. Stellen Sie sicher, daß das Re­gal oder der Schrank auf das vergleichsweise
hohe Gewicht der RB-1050 ausgelegt ist.

Netzspannung und
Bedienung

Netzeingang

Aufgrund der hohen Aufnahmeleistung
benötigt die RB-1050 erhebliche
Strommengen. Daher sollte sie direkt an eine
Wandsteckdose angeschlossen werden.
Verwenden Sie kein Verlängerungskabel. Eine
hochbelastbare Mehrfachsteckdose kann
eingesetzt werden, wenn sie (ebenso wie die
Wandsteckdose) ausreichende Strommengen
für die RB-1050 liefern kann.

Stellen Sie sicher, daß die RB-1050
abgeschaltet ist (sich der Netzschalter in der
AUS-Position befindet). Verbinden Sie das
beiliegende Netzkabel mit dem Netzeingang
an der Rückseite der RB-1050
Steckdose.

Ihre RB-1050 wird von Rotel so konfiguriert,
daß sie der in Ihrem Land üblichen
Wechselspannung (Europa: 230 Volt/50 Hz,
USA: 115 Volt/60 Hz) entspricht. Die
Einstellung ist an der Geräterückseite
angegeben.

HINWEIS: Sollten Sie mit Ihrer RB-1050
in ein anderes Land umziehen, kann die
Einstellung der Endstufe geändert werden,
so daß sie mit einer anderen
Netzspannung betrieben werden kann.
Versuchen Sie auf keinen Fall, diese
Änderung selber vorzunehmen. Durch
Öffnen des Endstufengehäuses setzen Sie
sich gefährlichen Spannungen aus. Ziehen
Sie hierzu stets qualifiziertes
Servicepersonal zu Rate.

Sind Sie, wie z.B. bei einer mehrwöchigen
Urlaubsreise, für längere Zeit nicht zu Hause,
sollten Sie Ihre Endstufe (ebenso wie alle
anderen Audio- und Videokomponenten)
während Ihrer Abwesenheit vom Netz trennen.

Netzschalter und
Betriebsanzeige

Der Netzschalter ist in die Gerätefront der RB­1050 integriert. Drücken Sie ihn, um das Gerät
einzuschalten. Die Betriebsanzeige über dem
Schalter beginnt zu leuchten. Durch erneutes
Drücken des Netzschalters schalten Sie die RB­1050 aus.

12V TRIGGER-Schalter

Die RB-1050 verfügt an der Rückseite über
einen Schalter, über den Sie die automatische
Signalerfassung ein- bzw. ausschalten können.

HINWEIS: Der Netzschalter an der
Gerätefront muß sich in der EIN-Position
befinden, um ein automatisches Aktivieren
des Systems zu ermöglichen.

Befindet sich der Schalter in der Position «12V
TRIG», wird die Endstufe automatisch
eingeschaltet, sobald an der 3,5-mm-TRIG­GER IN-Buchse an der Geräterückseite ein 12­V-Triggersignal anliegt. Liegt kein Signal an,
schaltet die Endstufe nach 5 Minuten in den
Standby-Modus.

Befindet sich der Schalter in der Position «Sig­nal Sense», so schaltet sich die Endstufe ein,
sobald an den Eingängen
anliegt. Liegt an den Eingängen kein Signal
an, schaltet die Endstufe nach 5 Minuten in
den Standby-Modus.

ein Musiksignal

An die mit OUT gekennzeichnete Buchse kann
ein weiteres Kabel mit 3,5-mm-Klinkensteckern
angeschlossen werden, über das ein 12-V­Triggersignal an andere Komponenten
weitergeleitet wird. Das 12-V-Signal steht an
diesem Ausgang zur Verfügung, sobald an
der IN-Buchse ein entsprechendes
Triggersignal anliegt.

Überlastsicherung

Eine Überlastsicherung (AC BREAKER an der
Rückseite der Endstufe) schützt den elektrischen
Schaltkreis der Endstufe. Generell wird die
Schutzschaltung nur auslösen, wenn eine
Störung auftritt. Um die Überlastsicherung
zurückzusetzen, drücken Sie die Taste. Sollte
die Überlastsicherung wiederholt ansprechen,
wenden Sie sich bitte an Ihren autorisierten
Rotel-Fachhändler.

Schutzschaltung

Die RB-1050 verfügt über eine thermische
Schutzschaltung. Hierdurch wird die Endstufe
vor möglichen Schäden durch extreme oder
fehlerhafte Betriebsbedingungen geschützt. Im
Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Konstruktionen
ist die Schutzschaltung der RB-1050
unabhängig vom Audiosignal und beeinflußt
den Klang nicht. Statt dessen überwacht sie
die Temperatur an den Leistungstransistoren
und schaltet die Endstufe ab, sobald bestimmte
Temperaturgrenzen überschritten werden.

In den meisten Fällen wird die Schutzschaltung
durch eine Fehlfunktion, wie z.B. durch
kurzgeschlossene Lautsprecherkabel oder eine
unzureichende Belüftung, die schließlich zu
einer Überhitzung führt, aktiviert. In sehr
seltenen Fällen können Lautsprecher mit einer
extrem niedrigen Impedanz die
Schutzschaltung aktivieren.

Reagiert die Schutzschaltung immer wieder,
ohne daß Sie die Fehlfunktion lokalisieren
können, setzen Sie sich mit Ihrem autorisierten
Rotel-Fachhändler in Verbindung.

Clipping-LEDs

Die beiden LEDs (eine für jeden Kanal) an der
Gerätefront reagieren, wenn die Belastung für
die Endstufe extrem hoch ist.

Gelegentliches Clipping bei sehr lauten
Passagen ist unproblematisch. Anhaltendes
oder häufiges Clipping ist dagegen eine der
häufigsten Ursachen für die Beschädigung von
Lautsprechern und sollte daher vermieden
werden.

Bei anhaltendem oder häufigem Clipping
haben Sie entweder die Möglichkeit, die
Lautstärke über den Lautstärkeregler an Ihrem
Vorverstärker zu reduzieren oder die Pegel
über die beiden Regler an Ihrer Endstufe zu
senken (siehe Abschnitt „Pegelregler an der
Gerätefront“ unten).

In der OFF-Position wird die Automatik
deaktiviert. Die Endstufe kann dann
ausschließlich über den Netzschalter ein- bzw.
abgeschaltet werden.

12V TRIGGER IN/OUT

An die mit IN gekennzeichnete Buchse kann
zur Übertragung eines 12-Volt-Triggersignals
ein Kabel mit 3,5-mm-Klinkensteckern
angeschlossen werden. Um diese Funktion
nutzen zu können, müssen Sie den
Netzschalter an der Gerätefront drücken
(einschalten). Dieser Eingang reagiert auf
Gleich- oder Wechselspannungssignale von
3 bis 30 Volt.

Es ist unwahrscheinlich, daß es jemals zu einer
Überlastung kommt. Sollte dennoch eine
Störung auftreten, schaltet sich die Endstufe
ab, und die PROTECTION-LED an der
Gerätefront beginnt zu leuchten.

Schalten Sie die Endstufe aus und lassen Sie
sie einige Minuten abkühlen. Versuchen Sie,
den Grund für die Störung herauszufinden und
zu beheben. Beim erneuten Einschalten der
Endstufe setzt sich die Schutzschaltung
automatisch zurück, und die LED erlischt.

Eingangssignalanschlüsse

[Siehe Anschlußdiagramm in Abbildung 2]

Die RB-1050 verfügt über Cinch-Eingänge,
wie Sie an jedem hochwertigen Audiogerät
zu finden sind.

HINWEIS: Beim Verkabeln und
Anschließen sollte die Endstufe generell
abgeschaltet sein.

Verwenden Sie hochwertige Audiokabel.
Verbinden Sie die einzelnen Ausgänge am
Vorverstärker bzw. Signalprozessor mit den
entsprechenden Eingängen der RB-1050.
Normalerweise wird der linke Kanal mit dem
Eingang CH1 und der rechte Kanal mit dem
Eingang CH2 verbunden.

Pegelregler an der
Gerätefront

Über diese beiden an der Gerätefront
befindlichen Regler (pro Kanal einer) können
die Pegel eingestellt und auf diese Weise den
Anforderungen des Systems angepaßt werden.
In den meisten Systemen sollten diese Regler
bis zum Anschlag im Uhrzeigersinn gedreht
werden.

Bei Bi-Amping-Anwendungen und bei Einsatz
der Endstufe in einem Multiroom-System kann
es erforderlich sein, den Pegel zu senken.
Verwenden Sie dazu einen kleinen
Schlitzschraubendreher und drehen Sie ihn
gegen den Uhrzeigersinn.

Signal Output Link

Über diese beiden Cinch-Anschlüsse können
die Eingangssignale unverändert zu anderen
Audiokomponenten geleitet werden. Auf diese
Weise ist es möglich, in Multiroom-Systemen
weitere Verstärker anzuschließen.

Lautsprecher

Auswahl der Lautsprecher

Wir empfehlen, an die RB-1050 Lautsprecher
mit einer nominalen Impedanz von
mindestens 4 Ohm anzuschließen. Sie sollten
beim Betrieb mehrerer parallelgeschalteter
Lautsprecherpaare einige Vorsicht walten
lassen, da sich die effektive, vom Verstärker
wahrgenommene Impedanz verringert. Beim
Betrieb von zwei Paar 8-Ohm-Lautsprechern
beträgt die Last für den Verstärker 4 Ohm.
Werden mehrere parallelgeschaltete
Lautsprecher angeschlossen, empfehlen wir,
Lautsprecher mit einer nominalen Impedanz
von mindestens 8 Ohm einzusetzen. Die
Angaben bezüglich der Impedanz von
Lautsprechern sind oft ungenau. In der Praxis
gibt es nur bei sehr wenigen Lautsprechern
Probleme beim Betrieb mit der RB-1050.
Wenden Sie sich bei Fragen bitte an Ihren
autorisierten Rotel-Fachhändler.

Auswahl der
Lautsprecherkabel

Verbinden Sie die RB-1050 und die
Lautsprecher über ein isoliertes, zweiadriges
Lautsprecherkabel. Aufbau und Qualität des
Kabels können hörbare Effekte auf die
Musikwiedergabe haben. Standard­„Klingeldraht“ wird funktionieren, jedoch
können vor allem bei größeren Kabellängen
Leistungsverluste und eine ungleichmäßige
Wiedergabe des Frequenzspektrums das
Ergebnis sein. Allgemein gilt, daß Kabel mit
größerem Querschnitt eine verbesserte
Wiedergabequalität gewährleisten. Für
höchste Wiedergabequalität sollten Sie die
Benutzung von speziellen, hochwertigen
Lautsprecherkabeln erwägen. Ihr autorisierter
Rotel-Fachhändler wird Ihnen bei der Auswahl
dieser Lautsprecherkabel gerne weiterhelfen.

Polarität und Phasenabgleich

Die Polarität – die positive/negative
Ausrichtung der Anschlüsse – muß für jede
Lautsprecher-/Verstärkerverbindung
phasengleich sein. Die Kabel sind zur
Identifizierung gekennzeichnet. So kann die
Isolationsschicht eines Leiters gerippt oder ein
Leiter mit einem Streifen markiert sein. Das
Kabel kann verschiedenfarbige Leiter (Kupfer
und Silber) besitzen und von einer
transparenten Isolationsschicht umgeben sein.
Bei anderen Kabeln wird die Polaritätsangabe
auf die Isolationsschicht gedruckt.
Unterscheiden Sie zwischen positiven und
negativen Leitern und achten Sie beim
Anschluß an Lautsprecher und Verstärker auf
die gleiche Polung.

Anschließen der
Lautsprecher

Die RB-1050 verfügt an der Rückseite über
zwei Paar farbig gekennzeichnete
Schraubklemmen. An diese Klemmen können
blanke Drähte oder Kabelschuhe
angeschlossen werden.

Führen Sie das Kabel von der RB-1050 zu den
Lautsprechern. Lassen Sie sich genügend
Raum, damit Sie die Komponenten bewegen
können und so einen freien Zugang zu den
Lautsprechern sicherstellen.

Bei der Verwendung von Kabelschuhen
verbinden Sie diese mit den Kabeln, stecken
die Kabelschuhe hinten unter die
Schraubklemmen und drehen die Klemmen
im Uhrzeigersinn fest.

Sollten die Lautsprecherkabel direkt (ohne
Kabelschuhe) an die Schraubklemmen
angeschlossen werden, so entfernen Sie an
den Kabelenden ca. 15 mm der Isolation.
Lösen Sie die Klemmen durch Drehen gegen
den Uhrzeigersinn. Verdrillen Sie die blanken
Kabelenden, um ein Zerfasern zu vermeiden,
und stecken Sie das verdrillte Kabel hinter die
Schraubklemmen. Anschließend drehen Sie
die Klemmen im Uhrzeigersinn fest.

HINWEIS: Achten Sie bitte darauf, daß
die blanken Kabelenden vollständig an den
Schraubklemmen untergebracht sind und
somit das Berühren benachbarter Drähte
oder Anschlüsse ausgeschlossen ist.

Deutsch

Bei Störungen

Tritt eine scheinbare Fehlfunktion auf, sollten
zuerst die nachstehend aufgeführten Punkte
überprüft werden. Viele Probleme beruhen auf
einfachen Bedienungsfehlern oder fehlerhaften
Anschlüssen. Läßt sich das Problem nicht
beheben, wenden Sie sich bitte an Ihren
autorisierten Rotel-Fachhändler.

Die Betriebsanzeige leuchtet
nicht

Die RB-1050 bekommt keinen Strom. Prüfen
Sie, ob der Netzschalter an der Gerätefront
gedrückt wurde. Prüfen Sie die Netzanschlüsse
an der Endstufe und der Wandsteckdose.

Kein Ton

Bekommt die RB-1050 Strom und ist trotzdem
kein Ton zu hören, prüfen Sie, ob die PRO­TECTION-LED an der Frontseite leuchtet. Falls
ja, beachten Sie bitte die Hinweise unten. Falls
nicht, prüfen Sie, ob alle Geräte richtig
angeschlossen sind und die Einstellungen an
den angeschlossenen Geräten richtig
vorgenommen wurden.

PROTECTION-LED leuchtet

Wurde die RB-1050 von der Schutzschaltung
abgeschaltet, beginnt die PROTECTION-LED
zu leuchten. Normalerweise passiert dies nur,
wenn die Ventilationsöffnungen verdeckt sind,
die Lautsprecher nicht richtig angeschlossen
wurden oder die Endstufe überlastet wurde.
Schalten Sie das System ab und warten Sie,
bis sich die Endstufe abgekühlt hat. Drücken
Sie den Netzschalter anschließend einmal ein
und aus, um die Schutzschaltung
zurückzusetzen. Ist die Störung nicht beseitigt
oder tritt sie erneut auf, liegt das Problem im
System oder in der Endstufe selber.

ATTENZIONE: Per ridurre il rischio di incendio o di

folgorazione, non esporre all’umidità o all’acqua.
Evitare che oggetti estranei cadano all’interno del
cabinet. Se l’apparecchio è stato esposto all’umidità
o un oggetto estraneo è caduto all’interno del cabi­net, staccare il cordone di alimentazione dalla presa
di rete. Portare l’apparecchio ad un centro di assistenza
qualificato per i necessari controlli e riparazioni.

Leggere attentamente tutte le istruzioni prima di collegare
l’apparecchio alla rete di alimentazione. Conservate questo
manuale per ogni riferimento futuro alle istruzioni di sicurezza.

Seguire attentamente tutte le avvertenze e le operazioni per
il funzionamento.

Pulire l’unità solamente con un panno asciutto o con un pic­colo aspirapolvere.

Mantenete libere le prese per la ventilazione . Per esempio,
l’apparecchiatura non dovrebbe essere posta su un letto, divano,
tappeto, o posti che possano bloccare le aperture di ventilazione.
Se l’apparecchio è posizionato in una libreria o in un cabi­net, fate in modo che ci sia abbastanza spazio attorno all’unità
per consentire un’adeguata ventilazione e raffreddamento.

L’unità dovrebbe essere posta lontano da fonti di calore come
caloriferi, termostati, stufe, o altri apparecchi che producano
calore

L’apparecchiatura dovrebbe essere collegata solamente a una
sorgente elettrica del tipo descritto nelle istruzioni o indicato
sull’apparecchiatura.

Collegate l’unità alla presa di alimentazione solo con il cavo
a due poli polarizzato che viene fornito o con un equivalente.
Non cercate di eliminare la massa o di manomettere le
polarizzazioni. Il cavo dovrebbe essere collegato ad un’uscita
a muro polarizzata a due poli collegando la lamella piatta
della spina nella fessura più ampia. Non usate prolunghe

Non far passare il cavo di alimentazione dove potrebbe essere
schiacciato, pizzicato, piegato ad angoli acuti, esposto al calore
o danneggiato in alcun modo. Fate particolare attenzione al
cavo di alimentazione all’altezza della spina e nel punto in
cui esce dalla parte posteriore dell’apparecchio.

Il cordone di alimentazione dovrebbe essere scollegato quando
l’apparecchiatura è inutilizzata per un periodo piuttosto lungo.

L’apparecchiatura dovrebbe essere disattivata e data a
personale qualificato quando:

a. Il cavo di alimentazione o la spina sono stati
danneggiati; o

b. Oggetti sono caduti, o del liquido è stato versato
nell’apparecchio; o

c. L’apparecchiatura è stata esposta alla pioggia; o
d. L’apparecchiatura non sembra funzionare in modo

normale; o
e. L’apparecchiatura è caduta, o il cabinet è rimasto

danneggiato

Posizionate l’unità su una superficie
piana abbastanza resistente da
sopportare il suo peso. Non
posizionatela su un carrello che
potrebbe ribaltarsi.

Grazie per aver acquistato il finale di potenza
RB-1050. Quando utilizzato in un impianto
hi-fi di alta qualità o in un sistema home the­ater vi garantirà numerosi anni di
intrattenimento musicale.

L’RB-1050 è un poderoso finale a due canali,
in grado di offrire una resa sonora della
migliore qualità... Transistor di potenza
discreti, un poderoso stadio di alimentazione,
componenti di qualità superiore e il Balanced
Design della Rotel assicurano una qualità
sonora superba. La elevata capacità di
corrente consente all’RB-1050 di pilotare
senza difficoltà i carichi più impegnativi.

Sappiate che l’RB-1050 è in grado di produrre
elevati livelli di potenza, oltre 70 watt per
canale. Assicuratevi che i vostri diffusori
possano sostenere la potenza dell’RB-1050.
Se avete dei dubbi sui vostri diffusori, chiedete
al vostro rivenditore autorizzato per avere dei
consigli.

L’istallazione dell’RB-1050 e il suo
funzionamento sono facili. Se avete già
esperienza con altri finali di potenza, non
dovreste incontrare alcuna difficoltà. Collegate
una coppia di cavi RCA di alta qualità tra il
vostro preamplificatore o processore di segnale
e gli ingressi dell’RB-1050, collegate i vostri
diffusori e ascoltate la musica

Alcune Precauzionini

Conservate l’imballaggio dell’RB-1050 e tutto
il materiale interno per un uso futuro.
Trasportare l’RB-1050 in un imballo non
originale potrebbe danneggiare il vostro
amplificatore.

Compilate e inviate la cartolina di registrazione
del proprietario inviata insieme all’RB-1050.
Assicuratevi anche di conservare la ricevuta
della vendita originale. E’ il vostro migliore
documento per la data di acquisto di cui avrete
bisogno ogni volta sia necessario il servizio
di garanzia.

Posizionamento

L’RB-1050 genera calore durante il suo
normale funzionamento. Le alette di
raffreddamento e le aperture di ventilazione
poste sull’amplificatore sono progettate per
dissipare questo calore. Le fessure di
ventilazione sulla parte superiore devono
essere libere. Vi dovrebbero essere 10 cm di
spazio libero attorno allo chassis e un flusso
d’aria adeguato per evitare il
surriscaldamento dell’amplificatore.

Allo stesso modo, ricordate il peso
dell’amplificatore quando scegliete un luogo
per l’installazione. Assicuratevi che lo scaffale
o il cabinet possano sostenere il notevole
volume. Considerate anche il notevole peso
dell’amplificatore quando dovete sollevarlo.
Ancora una volta usate il buon senso.

Leggete attentamente questo manuale. Oltre
alle indicazioni relative alle istruzioni di base
a al funzionamento fornisce interessanti
informazioni su diverse configurazioni di
sistema RB-1050 così come indicazioni
generali che vi aiuteranno a ottenere
prestazioni ottimali dal vostro impianto. Vi

Collegamento Alla Rete
e Controlli

Ingresso di Alimentazione

A causa del suo elevata potenza, l’RB-1050
può assorbire una considerevole quantità
corrente che potrebbe essere impegnativa per
l’impianto elettrico della vostra casa. Pertanto,
dovrebbe essere collegato direttamente ad
una presa a parete polarizzata a 2-poli. Non
utilizzate una prolunga. Potete utilizzare una
ciabatta di alimentazione multipla, ma
solamente se è adatta a gestire la corrente
richiesta dall’RB-1050.

Assicuratevi che l’interruttore di accensione
sul pannello anteriore dell’RB-1050 sia spento
(in posizione esterna). Poi, collegate il cordone
di alimentazione sul pannello posteriore
dell’unità e alla presa di alimentazione.

Il vostro RB-1050 è configurato in fabbrica
per il voltaggio corretto nel paese in cui lo
avete acquistato (o 115 volt o 230 volt con
una linea di frequenza o di 50 o di 60 Hz).
La configurazione in corrente alternata è
contrassegnata su un’etichetta sul pannello
posteriore.

NOTA: Nel caso doveste trasferire la
vostra unità in un altro paese, potrebbe
essere possibile configurare di nuovo per
un utilizzo su un voltaggio differente. Non
cercate di effettuare questa conversione da
soli. L’apertura dell’RB-1050 vi espone a
voltaggi pericolosi. Consultate personale
qualificato o il reparto di assistenza della
fabbrica Rotel per le informazioni
necessarie.

Nel caso doveste assentarvi da casa per un
periodo prolungato di tempo come una
vacanza di un mese, è precauzione
ragionevole quella di scollegare il vostro
amplificatore mentre siete assenti.

Interruttore di Alimentazione

e Spia di Accensione

L’interruttore di accensione è collocato al centro
del pannello anteriore del vostro
amplificatore. Per attivare l’unità premete
all’interno l’interruttore. Il LED sopra
l’interruttore si illuminerà indicando così che
l’unità è attiva. Per spegnere l’RB-1050,
premete nuovamente il pulsante e riportatelo
in posizione esterna.

Selettore di modalità a scatto
ON/OFF

L’amplificatore offre l’opzione per
l’accensione/spegnimento dell’ alimentazione
automatica o manuale. Queste modalità sono
selezionabili utilizzando un interruttore a
bilanciere sul pannello posteriore.

NOTA: L’interruttore sul pannello anteriore

deve essere su ON perché funzioni

l’impianto di attivazione automatica.

Con l’interruttore è in posizione “12V TRIG”
l’amplificatore viene attivato automaticamente
quando è presente un segnale a scatto da 12V
al jack da 3.5 mm del TRIGGER IN sul pannello
posteriore. L’amplificatore si porrà in modalità
di standby se non è presente il segnale da
12V. L’amplificatore entrerà in modalità
standby se non è presente il segnale +12V.

Quando l’interruttore è in posizione “SIGNAL
SENSE” l’amplificatore viene attivato ogni
volta che un segnale audio viene dato agli
ingressi
segnale audio agli ingressi, l’amplificatore
ritornerà in modalità standby dopo 5 minuti.

Quando l’interruttore è in posizione “OFF”
il sistema di attivazione automatica viene
disattivato. Solo l’interruttore di alimentazione
sul pannello anteriore controllerà
l’amplificatore.

dell’interruttore a scatto da
+12V

Il jack contrassegnato con IN è predisposto
per il collegamento del cavo/spina da 3.5 mm
che trasporta il segnale trigger da 12V al fine
di attivare e disattivare l’amplificatore. Per fare
uso di questa caratteristica l’interruttore a
bilanciere deve essere posto in posizione ON.
Questo ingresso accetta qualsiasi segnale di
comando (AC o DC) che va da 3 volt a 30
volt.

Il jack contrassegnato con OUT è previsto per
il collegamento di un cavo/spina da 3.5 mm
per fornire un segnale a scatto da 12V agli
altri componenti. Il segnale da 12V in uscita
è disponibile ogni qualvolta un segnale trigger
da +12Vviene applicato al connettore IN.

Interruttore di circuito

Un interruttore sul pannello posteriore protegge
il circuito elettrico dell’amplificatore.. In genere,
l’interruttore si attiverà solamente in condizioni
di errore che portano ad un eccessivo carico
di corrente. Per reinserire l’interruttore premete
il pulsante. Nel caso dovesse attivarsi
continuamente consultate il vostro rivenditore
autorizzato Rotel per un’assistenza nella
ricerca dei guasti.

Circuito di protezione

L’RB-1050 è dotato di un circuito di protezione
termico che protegge l’amplificatore da
eventuali danni derivanti da condizioni op­erative estreme. A differenza di altri
apparecchi, il circuito di protezione
dell’RB-1050 è indipendente dal segnale audio
e non ha nessuna influenza sulle performance
sonore. Invece, il circuito di protezione
controlla la temperatura dei finali e spegne
l’amplificatore se la temperatura supera i limiti
di sicurezza.

Molto probabilmente, non vedrete mai questo
circuito di protezione in azione. Tuttavia se
si dovessero verificare le condizioni,
l’amplificatore fermerà la riproduzione e
l’indicatore LED sul pannello anteriore si
accenderà.

Se questo accade, spegnete l’amplificatore,
lasciatelo raffreddare per alcuni minuti,
cercate di identificare e risolvere il problema
che ha causato l’intervento del circuito.
Quando accenderete nuovamente
l’amplificatore, il circuito di protezione si
azzererà automaticamente e l’indicatore LED
si spegnerà.

Nella maggior parte dei casi il circuito si attiva
a causa di condizioni critiche come il corto
circuito dei cavi dei diffusori o scarsa
ventilazione che portano a situazioni di
surriscaldamento. In casi molto rari carichi
di diffusori ad impedenza molto bassa o molto
reattivi provocano l’intervento del circuito.

Se il circuito di protezione si attiva
ripetutamente e non siete in grado di isolare
e risolvere il problema, contattate il vostro
rivenditore Rotel per l’assistenza nella ricerca
del guasto.

Indicatori di smorzamento

Ogni canale è provvisto di un indicatore di
smorzamento sul pannello anteriore. Il “clip­ping” ha luogo quando un amplificatore è
portato al punto in cui produce distorsione.
Il termine fa riferimento all’appiattimento o
“smorzamento” dell’onda musicale che ha
luogo nel momento in cui un amplificatore
viene pilotato oltre. Se gli indicatori di
smorzamento si accendono, riducete il livello
di volume dell’impianto. Diversamente
potreste danneggiare i diffusori collegati
all’amplificatore. Si potrebbe anche attivare
il circuito di protezione.

Collegamenti del Segnale
In Ingresso

(Vedere Figura 2)

L’RB-1050 è provvisto di connessioni di
ingresso convenzionali del tipo RCA, tipiche
di quasi tutti i componenti audio.

NOTA: Per evitare forti rumori che non
apprezzereste nè voi e nè i vostri diffusori,
assicuratevi che l’amplificatore sia spento
quando effettuate qualsiasi collegamento
di segnale.

Scegliete cavi di interconnessione audio di alta
qualità. Collegate ogni uscita dal
preamplificatore o processore di segnale
all’ingresso corrispondente dell’RB-1050. In
genere il segnale del canale sinistro è collegato
al Canale 1 e il segnale del canale destro è
collegato al Canale 2.

Controlli di livello del
pannello anteriore

I controlli di livello del pannello anteriore vi
permettono di comandare il volume di uscita
dell’ RB-1050. Nella maggior parte degli
impianti questi controlli dovrebbero essere
attivati completamente (totalmente girati in
senso orario). In alcuni casi, come nel caso
in cui l’amplificatore sia parte di un impianto
multi-room o con diffusore bi-amplificato,
potrebbe essere necessario ridurre il livello
di uscita. Usate un cacciaviti a punta piatta
per ridurre i comandi (in senso antiorario) a
seconda delle necessità.

Abbassando il livello non si riduce la massima
uscita dell’amplificatore. Si aumenta
semplicemente il segnale d’ingresso necessario
per ottenere l’alimentazione d’uscita massima.

Connettori “Signal Output
Link” (di collegamento
d’uscita del segnale)

Il segnale d’ingresso che va nei normali
ingressi va anche ai connettori del “Signal
Output Link”. Questo viene utilizzato
generalmente quando l’amplificatore fa parte
di un impianto multi-room. Il segnale dal
“Signal Output Link” viene utilizzato per
fornire un segnale agli altri amplificatori
nell’impianto.

Collegamento dei Diffusori

Selezione dei Diffusori

Vi raccomandiamo di utilizzare diffusori con
un’impedenza minima nominale di 4 ohm o
più alta con l’RB-1050. Dovreste avere molta
cautela nel pilotare coppie multiple di diffusori
in parallelo, perchè l’impedenza effettiva che
l’amplificatore vede si dimezza. Per esempio,
quando si pilotano due coppie di diffusori da
8 ohm, l’amplificatore vede un carico da 4
ohm. Quando si pilotano diffusori multipli in
parallelo vi raccomandiamo di scegliere
diffusori con un’impedenza di 8 ohm o più
alta. I dati di impedenza di un diffusore non
sono molto precisi. In pratica pochissimi
diffusori presenteranno problemi per
l’RB-1050. Se avete alcuni dubbi chiedete pure
consiglio al vostro rivenditore Rotel.

Selezione Dei Cavi Del
Diffusore

Utilizzate cavi a due conduttori isolati per
collegare l’RB-1050 ai diffusori. Le dimensioni
e la qualità dei cavi possono avere effetti udibili
sulle performance del sistema. I cavi standard
vanno bene ma possono dare un’uscita più
bassa o una risposta limitata in gamma bassa,
in particolare se sono molto lunghi. In generale
cavi ben dimensionati miglioreranno la resa
sonora. Per ottenere le migliori prestazioni,
potete prendere in considerazioni cavi speciali
di alta qualità. Il vostro rivenditore Rotel vi
potrà aiutare nella scelta.

Polarita’ E Fase

La polarità - l’orientamento positivo/negativo
dei collegamenti - per il collegamento di ogni
diffusore e amplificatore deve essere conforme
affinché tutti i diffusori siano in fase. Se la
polarità di un collegamento è accidentalmente
invertita, il basso sarà debole e l’immagine
stereo scadente. Tutti i cavi sono segnati
affinché si possano identificare i due
conduttori. Vi possono essere scanalature o
una striscia sull’isolante di un conduttore. Il
cavo può avere un’isolante trasparente con
conduttori di colori diversi (rame e argento).
Indicazioni sulla polarità possono essere
stampate sull’isolante. Identificare i conduttori
positivo e negativo e che siano corretti con i
collegamenti tra l’amplificatore e i diffusori.

Collegamento Dei Diffusori

L’ RB-1050 ha due coppie di connettori colorati
sul pannello posteriore. Questi connettori
accettano cavi spellati, forcelle, o doppi
connettori a banana ( ad eccezione dei paesi
della Comunità Europea dove non sono
consentiti)

Portate il cavo dall’RB-1050 ai diffusori.
Lasciatelo lento in modo da poter muovere i
componenti abbastanza da consentire
l’accesso ai connettori dei diffusori.

Se utilizzate i doppi connettori a banana,
collegateli ai cavi ed inseriteli nella parte
posteriore dei connettori dell’amplificatore.
I cappellotti esagonali dei connettori
dovrebbero essere avvitati in tutti i casi (in
senso orario).

Se state utilizzando connettori a forcella,
collegateli ai cavi. Se state collegando cavi
spellati direttamente ai connettori, separate
i conduttori dei cavi e strappate indietro
l’isolante dall’estremità di ogni conduttore. Fate
attenzione a non tagliare l’intreccio dei fili.
Svitate (in senso antiorario) i cappellotti
esagonali dei connettori. Posizionate la forcella
attorno al perno del connettore o inserite il
filo avvolto nel foro del perno. Avvitate gli anelli
in senso orario per serrare la forcella o il filo.

Ricerca Dei Guasti

Nei sistemi audio molti problemi derivano da
collegamenti sbagliati o inadeguate
regolazioni dei controlli. Se vi si pone un
problema, isolate l’area critica verificate i
comandi, determinate la causa del problema
e operate i necessari cambiamenti. Se non
siete in grado di far suonare l’RB-1050 fate
riferimento ai suggerimenti per le condizioni
che seguono:

La spia di accensione sul
pannello anteriore non si
illumina

Non arriva corrente all’RB-1050. Controllate
il pulsante di accensione sul pannello anteriore.
Assicuratevi che sia in posizione di accensione.
Controllate i collegamenti alla rete
sull’amplificatore e sulla presa di
alimentazione (CA)

Nessun Suono

Se l’amplificatore riceve l’alimentazione dalla
rete ma non produce nessun suono, controllate
l’indicatore del circuito di protezione sul
pannello frontale. Se è accesa guardate il
paragrafo sotto. Se non è accesa controllate
tutti i vostri collegamenti e il settaggio dei
controlli sugli altri componenti degli impianti

L’indicatore di protezione
e’ acceso

L’indicatore sul pannello anteriore si accende
quando il circuito di protezione dell’RB-1050
ha spento l’amplificatore. Generalmente
questo accade solo quando le aperture di
ventilazione sono ostruite, quando c’è un
cablaggio difettoso del diffusore, o dopo un
periodo di utilizzo intenso. Spegnete l’impianto
e aspettate che l’amplifiatore si raffreddi.
Premete dentro e fuori l’interruttore di
accensione sul pannello anteriore per risettare
i dispositivi di protezione. Se il problema non
si risolve o si ripresenta, c’è un difetto nel
sistema o nello stesso amplificatore.

NOTA: Assicuratevi che non vi siano fili
sparsi che potrebbero toccare i cavi o i
connettori adiacenti.

inmediatamente el cable de alimentación de la red
eléctrica. En caso de que fuera necesario, envíe el
aparato a un especialista cualificado para su inspección
y posterior reparación.

Lea todas las instrucciones del presente manual antes de
conectar o hacer funcionar el aparato. Conserve este manual
cerca de usted para el caso de que necesite revisar las
instrucciones de seguridad que se indican a continuación.

Tenga siempre en mente las advertencias y la información
relativa a seguridad que figuran tanto en estas instrucciones
como en el propio aparato. Siga al pie de letra todas las
instrucciones relacionadas con el funcionamiento del mismo.

Limpie el exterior del aparato únicamente con una gamuza
seca o un aspirador.

Debe dejar un mínimo de 10 centímetros de espacio libre
alrededor del aparato. No coloque nunca la RB-1050 en una
cama, un sofá, una alfombra o una superficie similar susceptible
de bloquear las ranuras de ventilación. Si el aparato está
ubicado en la estantería de una librería o un mueble, debe
haber suficiente espacio a su alrededor y ventilación en el
mueble para permitir una refrigeración adecuada.

Mantenga al aparato alejado de radiadores, estufas, cocinas
o de cualquier otra instalación que produzca calor.

El aparato debe ser conectado únicamente a una fuente de
alimentación del tipo y la tensión especificados en su panel
posterior.

Conecte el aparato a una toma de corriente eléctrica únicamente
a través del cable de alimentación de dos clavijas polarizado
suministrado de serie o un equivalente exacto del mismo. No
modifique de ningún modo dicho cable. No intente desactivar
los terminales destinados a la conexión a tierra o polarización.
El cable debería ser conectado a una toma de corriente eléctrica
de dos terminales que se adapten perfectamente a las clavijas
del cable de alimentación del aparato. No utilice ningún tipo
de cable de extensión.

No coloque el cable de alimentación en lugares en que pueda
ser aplastado, pinchado, doblado en ángulos críticos, expuesto
al calor o dañado de algún modo. Preste particular atención
al punto de unión entre el cable y la toma de corriente y también
a la ubicación de esta última en el panel posterior del aparato.

El cable de alimentación debería desconectarse de la red
eléctrica cuando el aparato no vaya a ser utilizado durante
un largo período de tiempo (por ejemplo las vacaciones de
verano).

Desconecte inmediatamente el aparato y envíelo a un servicio
técnico cualificado para su inspección/reparación si:

• El cable de alimentación o alguna clavija del mismo ha
sido dañado.

• Han caído objetos o se ha derramado líquido en el inte­rior del aparato.

• El aparato ha sido expuesto a la lluvia.

• El aparato muestra signos de funcionamiento inadecuado.

• El aparato ha sido golpeado o dañado de algún modo.

Coloque el aparato sobre una
superficie fija y equilibrada que sea
suficientemente resistente para
soportar su peso. No coloque
nunca el aparato en una carretilla
móvil de la que pueda volcar.

Gracias por comprar la Etapa de Potencia
Estereofónica Rotel RB-1050. Utilizado en un
sistema de reproducción musical o audiovi­sual de alta calidad, este amplificador le
permitirá disfrutar durante muchos años de
sus composiciones musicales y películas
favoritas.

La RB-1050 es una poderosa etapa de
potencia de dos canales capaz de satisfacer
las más exigentes aplicaciones. El uso de
dispositivos de salida discretos, una generosa
fuente de alimentación, componentes
electrónicos de primera calidad y el exclusivo
Diseño Equilibrado de Rotel aseguran una
soberbia calidad sonora. Una elevada
capacidad en corriente hace posible que la
RB-1050 pueda atacar con extrema facilidad
las cajas acústicas más difíciles del mercado
en las más variadas condiciones de trabajo.

Puede estar perfectamente seguro acerca de
la capacidad de la RB-1050 para entregar
unos niveles de potencia muy elevados, del
orden de 70 vatios continuos por canal sobre
8 ohmios. Asegúrese de que sus cajas
acústicas puedan soportar la potencia de
salida de la RB-1050. En caso de que tenga
alguna duda al respecto, consulte a su
distribuidor autorizado de productos Rotel
para que le aconseje adecuadamente.

La RB-1050 es un aparato que resulta muy
fácil de instalar y utilizar. Si usted ya está
experimentado en el manejo de etapas de
potencia de audio, en principio no debería
encontrar nada que le resultara especialmente
complicado durante la puesta a punto inicial
de la misma. Inserte un par de cables con
conectores RCA procedentes de su
preamplificador en los pertinentes terminales
de entrada de la RB-1050, haga lo propio
con sus cajas acústicas y disfrute con su música
favorita.

Algunas Precauciones

Le rogamos que lea cuidadosamente el
presente manual de instrucciones. Además de
las instrucciones básicas de instalación y
puesta a punto de la RB-1050, incluye
información de gran valor sobre las diferentes
configuraciones que permite el aparato, así
como reseñas generales que le ayudarán a
optimizar las prestaciones de su sistema. Le
rogamos asimismo que para cualquier duda
o consulta contacte con su distribuidor
autorizado de Productos Rotel. No le quepa
la menor duda de que todos sus comentarios
y observaciones serán bien recibidos.

Guarde el embalaje de la RB-1050 y todo el
material en él contenido para un posible uso
futuro del mismo. El embalaje o transporte
de la RB-1050 en condiciones diferentes de
las originales puede dañar seriamente el
aparato.

Rellene y envíe la tarjeta de garantía
suministrada junto con la RB-1050. Asegúrese
igualmente de mantener en su poder la factura
de compra original puesto que es la mejor
manera de que usted se acuerde de la fecha
de compra, un dato esencial en caso de que
necesitara algún tipo de asistencia técnica
durante el período de garantía.

Colocación

La RB-1050 genera calor durante su
funcionamiento normal. Tanto los disipadores
térmicos como las ranuras de ventilación del
aparato están perfectamente capacitados para
eliminar este calor. Las ranuras de ventilación
situadas en la cubierta superior deben estar
siempre despejadas. Debería haber un
espacio libre de unos 10 centímetros alrededor
del chasis y también una circulación de aire
razonable alrededor del emplazamiento del
aparato para evitar el sobrecalentamiento del
mismo.

Tenga igualmente en cuenta el peso del
amplificador cuando seleccione una ubicación
determinada para su instalación. Asegúrese
por tanto de que la estantería o mueble
utilizado pueda soportar el considerable
volumen de la RB-1050. Una vez más, le
recomendamos que utilice su sentido común.

Alimentación y Control

Toma de Corriente Eléctrica

Debido a su elevada potencia de salida, la
RB-1050 puede drenar una considerable
cantidad de corriente. Además, debería ser
conectada directamente a una toma de
corriente polarizada de 2 clavijas. No utilice
ningún tipo de cable de extensión. Puede
utilizarse una base de enchufes de alta calidad
siempre y cuando esté (al igual, por supuesto,
que la toma de corriente ubicada en la pared
de su casa) preparada para manejar la
corriente requerida por la RB-1050.

Asegúrese de que el Conmutador de Puesta
en Marcha situado en el panel frontal de la
RB-1050 esté desconectado (es decir hacia
fuera). A continuación, conecte el cable de
alimentación suministrado de serie en el
receptáculo correspondiente
posterior y a una toma de corriente alterna
de su casa.

Su RB-1050 está configurada en fábrica para
que trabaje con la tensión de red
correspondiente al país en que haya sido
adquirida (115 ó 230 voltios de corriente
alterna con una frecuencia de 50 ó 60 Hz).
Dicha configuración está indicada en un lugar
visible del panel posterior del aparato.

NOTA: En caso de que tuviese que
trasladar su RB-1050 a otro país, es
posible reconfigurarla para que pueda
trabajar con tensiones de red diferentes de
la establecida en fábrica. No intente llevar
a cabo esta conversión por su cuenta. El
acceso al interior de la RB-1050 le expone
a tensiones eléctricas peligrosas. Para
cualquier información al respecto, le
rogamos que contacte con un técnico
cualificado o llame al departamento de
asistencia técnica posventa de Rotel.

Si va a estar fuera de su casa durante un largo
período de tiempo -por ejemplo las vacaciones
de verano-, le recomendamos, como
precaución básica, que desconecte su
amplificador de la red eléctrica.

Conmutador e Indicador
Luminoso de Puesta en
Marcha

El conmutador de puesta en marcha está
ubicado en el centro del panel frontal de su
amplificador. Púlselo para poner en marcha
la RB-1050. El indicador luminoso situado
encima del mismo se activará, indicando que
el amplificador está conectado. Para
desconectar el aparato, basta con que pulse
de nuevo el mencionado botón a fin de que
éste regrese a su posición inicial.

Selector de Modo para Señal
de Disparo Externa

El amplificador incorpora la opción de puesta
en marcha/desconexión manual o automática.
Estos modos pueden seleccionarse con ayuda
de un pequeño interruptor situado en el panel
posterior.

NOTA: Para que el sistema de arranque
automático funcione, el Conmutador de
Puesta en Marcha
debe estar en la posición ON.

Con el conmutador situado en la posición
+12V TRIGGER ON, el amplificador se pondrá
en marcha automáticamente en cuanto detecte
una señal de disparo de 12 voltios en la toma
de 3’5 mm TRIGGER IN situada en su panel
posterior. En caso de que dicha señal no esté
presente, el amplificador se situará en la
posición de espera después de un retardo de
5 minutos.

Cuando el conmutador está situado en la
posición “SIGNAL SENSE” (DETECCION DE
SEÑAL), el amplificador es activado cuando
se aplique señal a una cualquiera de sus
Entradas
de audio a las entradas de la RB-1050, el
aparato volverá a la posición de espera al
cabo de 5 minutos.

Cuando el conmutador esté en la posición
“OFF”, el sistema de activación automática
se desconectará. Unicamente el Conmutador
de Puesta en Marcha del panel frontal
controlará el amplificador.

. Si no se aplica ninguna señal

Entrada y Salida para Señal
de Disparo de 12 V

La toma IN sirve para conectar el cable/clavija
de 3’5 mm que transporta una señal de
disparo de +12 voltios capaz de poner en
marcha o desactivar el amplificador. Para
utilizar esta función, el interruptor del panel
posterior debe situarse en la posición ON.
Esta entrada acepta cualquier señal de con­trol (tanto alterna como continua) de valor
comprendido entre 3 y 30 voltios.

La toma OUT sirve para conectar otro cable/
clavija de 3’5 mm para suministrar una señal
de disparo de 12 voltios a otros componentes.
La señal de salida de 12 voltios estará
disponible siempre que se aplique una señal
de disparo de +12 voltios al conector IN.

Interruptor

Un interruptor situado en el panel posterior
protege la circuitería eléctrica del amplificador.
Por regla general, el interruptor sólo se abrirá
cuando se produzca una condición de fallo
derivada de una demanda de corriente excesiva.
Para reinicializar el interruptor, pulse el botón
correspondiente. En caso de que el interruptor
se abra repetidamente, contacte con su
distribuidor autorizado de productos Rotel para
que le proporcione la asistencia adecuada.

Circuitería de Protección

La RB-1050 incorpora un circuito de
protección térmica que la protege frente a
cualquier daño potencial que pudiera
producirse en caso de funcionamiento en
condiciones extremas o de que hubiese fallos
en el mismo. Al contrario de lo que sucede
en muchos diseños de su clase, la circuitería
de protección de la RB-1050 es completamente
independiente de la señal de audio y por tanto
no tiene el más mínimo impacto en las
prestaciones musicales. De este modo, el
circuito de protección monitoriza la
temperatura de los dispositivos de salida y
desconecta el amplificador si la temperatura
de funcionamiento excede los límites de
seguridad prefijados.

Por lo general, usted no debería ver nunca
este circuito en acción. Sin embargo, en el
caso de que se detectara un funcionamiento
defectuoso de su RB-1050, el aparato dejaría
de funcionar y se activaría un indicador
luminoso en su panel frontal.

Si esto sucede, desconecte completamente el
amplificador, déjelo enfriar durante varios
minutos e intente identificar y corregir el
problema. Cuando vuelva a poner de nuevo
en marcha el aparato, el circuito de protección
se reinicializará automáticamente y el
indicador luminoso de protección debería
desactivarse.

En la mayoría de casos, la circuitería de
protección se activa como consecuencia de
una condición de funcionamiento incorrecto,
como por ejemplo la unión de los cables de
conexión de las cajas acústicas o una
ventilación inadecuada que provoque el
sobrecalentamiento del aparato. En algunos
casos muy concretos (y raros), una impedancia
de las cajas extremadamente baja o altamente
reactiva podría provocar la activación de los
circuitos de protección.

Si la circuitería de protección se dispara
repetidamente y usted es incapaz de aislar
y corregir la condición de fallo que provoca
tal situación, contacte con su distribuidor
autorizado de productos Rotel para que le
proporcione la asistencia adecuada.

Indicadores Luminosos
de Recorte de Señal
(“Clipping”)

Cada canal tiene un Indicador Luminoso de
Recorte de señal (“Clipping”) en el panel fron­tal. El Recorte de la señal o “Clipping” tiene
lugar cuando un amplificador es excitado
hasta el punto de que empieza a generar
distorsión. El término utilizado hace referencia
al aplanamiento o recorte de la onda
correspondiente a la señal musical que tiene
lugar cuando un amplificador es forzado a
trabajar por encima de su potencia nominal.
Si los Indicadores de Recorte de Señal se
activan, reduzca el nivel de volumen del
equipo. En caso de que no lo haga, corre el
riesgo de dañar seriamente las cajas acústicas
conectadas a su amplificador. También puede
provocar la activación del Circuito de
Protección.

Conexiones de Entrada

[Diríjase a la Figura 2 para la realización de
las conexiones pertinentes]

La RB-1050 incorpora conectores de entrada
RCA convencionales idénticos a los que
pueden encontrarse en la práctica totalidad
de componentes de audio.

NOTA: Para prevenir la presencia de
ruidos susceptibles de ser apreciados tanto
por usted como por sus cajas acústicas,
asegúrese de que el amplificador esté
desconectado cuando realice las distintas
conexiones o cambios en las mismas.

Utilice cables de interconexión de alta calidad.
Conecte cada una de las diferentes salidas
de su preamplificador o procesador de señal
a las correspondientes entradas de la RB-

1050. Verifique cuidadosamente estas
conexiones para asegurarse que ninguna de
ellas sea incorrecta.

Controles de Nivel del
Panel Frontal

Los controles de Nivel del panel frontal le
permiten controlar el volumen de salida de
la RB-1050. En la mayoría de sistemas, estos
controles deberían situarse en su posición
máxima (girados completamente hacia la
derecha). En algunas situaciones, como por
ejemplo cuando el amplificador forma parte
de un sistema multihabitación o un conjunto
de cajas acústicas biamplificadas, puede que
sea necesario reducir el nivel de salida. Utilice
un pequeño destornillador de cabeza plana
para girar el control en sentido antihorario
y disminuir así el nivel de salida
correspondiente.

La disminución del nivel no reduce la potencia
de salida máxima del amplificador sino que
simplemente incrementa el nivel de la señal
necesaria para alcanzarla.

Conectores de Salida
para Enlace
(“Signal Output Link”)

La señal introducida en las Entradas normales
de la RB-1050 también es enviada a los
Conectores de Salida para Enlace. Por lo
general, esta posibilidad de conexión se utiliza
cuando el amplificador forma parte de un
sistema multihabitación. La señal procedente
de los Conectores de Salida para Enlace es
entonces utilizada para alimentar al resto de
amplificadores del equipo.

Conexión de las
Cajas Acústicas

Selección de las Cajas Acústicas

La impedancia nominal de cada una de las
cajas acústicas conectadas a la RB-1050
debería ser de al menos 4 ohmios. Debería
tener en cuenta ciertas precauciones a la hora
de atacar varias parejas de cajas acústicas
conectadas en paralelo ya que la impedancia
efectiva que ve el amplificador se divide en­tre dos. Por ejemplo, cuando se atacan dos
parejas de cajas acústicas con una impedancia
de 8 ohmios por caja, el amplificador ve una
carga de 4 ohmios. Por lo tanto, cuando
ataque varias cajas acústicas conectadas en
paralelo le recomendamos que seleccione

diseños cuya impedancia nominal sea de 8
o más ohmios. Tenga en cuenta que la
impedancia de las cajas acústicas no tiene
un comportamiento particularmente preciso
aunque, en la práctica, muy pocas de ellas
podrán presentar problemas a la RB-1050.
Consulte con un distribuidor autorizado de
productos Rotel en caso de que tenga cualquier
duda al respecto.

Selección del Cable de
Conexión a las Cajas Acústicas

Utilice un cable de dos conductores
perfectamente aislado para conectar la RB­1050 a las cajas acústicas. El tamaño y la
calidad de dicho cable pueden tener un efecto
audible sobre las prestaciones de la totalidad
de su equipo. Un cable de conexión de calidad
estándar funcionará pero es posible que
provoque una disminución de la potencia de
salida o una atenuación de la respuesta en
graves, en particular si la longitud del mismo
es elevada. En general, un cable más
consistente mejorará la calidad del sonido.
Para conseguir unas prestaciones óptimas,
debería considerar la compra de cables de
alta calidad especialmente diseñados para
aplicaciones de audio. Su distribuidor
autorizado de productos Rotel puede ayudarle
a seleccionar los cables que vaya a utilizar
en su sistema.

Polaridad y Puesta en Fase

La polaridad, es decir la orientación positiva/
negativa de las conexiones correspondientes
a cada caja acústica y a la unión con el
amplificador deben ser coherentes, de modo
que todas las cajas acústicas del sistema estén
en fase. Si la polaridad de una conexión es
invertida por error, se producirá una fuerte
caída de la respuesta en graves, así como una
degradación perceptible de la imagen
estereofónica global. Todos los cables están
marcados de manera que usted pueda
identificar fácilmente los dos conductores.
Puede haber marcas o líneas impresas en el
revestimiento aislante de un conductor. El cable
también puede presentar un claro aislamiento
al incorporar conductores de distintos colores
(cobre y plata). También puede haber
indicaciones de polaridad impresas en el
revestimiento aislante. Identifique los
conductores positivos y negativos y sea
coherente con cada una de las conexiones
del amplificador y las cajas acústicas.

Conexión de las Cajas
Acústicas

La RB-1050 incorpora dos pares de terminales
de conexión debidamente codificados (por
colores) en su panel posterior. Estos terminales
de conexión aceptan cable pelado, conectores
de tipo horquilla o conectores de tipo banana
doble (excepto en los países de la Comunidad
Europea, donde su uso no está permitido).

Lleve el cable desde la RB-1050 hasta las cajas
acústicas de su equipo. Procure que el mismo
posea la suficiente longitud para que pueda
accederse sin ninguna restricción a los
terminales de conexión de aquéllas.

Si usted está utilizando conectores dobles de
tipo banana, únalos primero a los cables y
a continuación insértelos en la zona poste­rior de los terminales de conexión. En cualquier
caso, las tuercas de fijación de los terminales
de conexión deberían bloquearse girándolas
en sentido horario.

Si está utilizando terminales de tipo horquilla,
conéctelos en primer lugar a los cables. Si está
colocando directamente cable pelado a los
terminales de conexión, separe los cables
correspondientes a cada conductor y quite la
parte superior del revestimiento aislante.
Asegúrese de no cortar ninguno de los
conductores propiamente dichos. Libere
(girándolas en sentido contrario de las agujas
del reloj) las tuercas de fijación hexagonales
y a continuación coloque los conectores
alrededor de los terminales de conexión o el
cable pelado en el orificio transversal que hay
en los mismos. Gire en sentido horario las
tuercas de fijación hexagonales para sujetar
firmemente en su lugar el conector o el cable
de conexión.

NOTA: Asegúrese de que no haya restos
de cable que puedan tocar los cables o
conductores adyacentes.

Problemas y Posibles

Ausencia de Sonido

Si el amplificador recibe señal eléctrica pero

La mayoría de dificultades que suelen
producirse en los sistemas de audio son el
resultado de conexiones realizadas
incorrectamente o ajustes inapropiados. En
caso de que se encuentre con algún problema,
aísle en primer lugar el área afectada,
compruebe los ajustes de control realizados,
determine la causa del fallo y haga los cambios
necesarios. Si se ve incapaz de hacer funcionar
de nuevo a la RB-1050, considere las
sugerencias que le damos para las siguientes
condiciones:

El Indicador Luminoso del
Panel Frontal No Se Activa

No entra corriente eléctrica en la RB-1050.
Compruebe el conmutador de puesta en
marcha del panel frontal. Asegúrese de que
esté situado en la posición ON. Compruebe
las conexiones relativas al suministro de señal
eléctrica tanto del amplificador como de su
propia casa.

no produce sonido, compruebe el estado del
indicador luminoso de Protección situado en
su panel frontal. Si el mismo está activado,
lea las líneas que siguen. En caso contrario,
compruebe todas las conexiones de su equipo
y los ajustes correspondientes a cada uno de
los componentes del mismo.

El Indicador de Protección
Está Activado

El indicador luminoso del panel frontal se
activa cuando los circuitos de protección de
la RB-1050 han interrumpido el
funcionamiento normal del aparato. Por regla
general, esto sólo suele ocurrir cuando las
ranuras de ventilación están bloqueadas,
cuando hay una conexión incorrecta de las
cajas acústicas o después de un período de
utilización en condiciones extremas.
Desconecte su equipo y espere que el
amplificador se enfríe. A continuación, pulse
repetidamente el conmutador de puesta en
marcha del panel frontal de la RB-1050 para
reinicializar los dispositivos de protección. Si
la anomalía no es corregida y vuelve a hacer
acto de presencia, significa que hay un
problema en su equipo o en el propio
amplificador.

De waarschuwingen op het apparaat en in de
gebruiksaanwijzing zijn belangrijk, sla ze niet in de wind.

Als het apparaat vuil wordt, stof het dan af met een zachte
droge doek, of maak gebruik van een stofzuiger. Gebruik nooit
een oplosmiddel van welke soort dan ook.

Het apparaat moet dusdanig gebruikt worden, dat een
behoorlijke koeling niet in het gedrang komt. Voorbeeldjes:
Gebruik het apparaat niet op bed, sofa, plaid of andere
onregelmatige oppervlakken, waardoor de ventilatiegaten
geblokkeerd zouden kunnen worden. Ook het inbouwen in
een te kleine ruimte kan een voldoende koeling in de weg
staan, zorg dan ook voor een ruimte boven de versterker van
zo’n 10 cm.

Het apparaat moet verre gehouden worden van
warmtebronnen zoals: radiatoren en kachels, maar ook
versterkers.

Het apparaat mag alleen aangesloten worden op het voltage
zoals aangegeven op de achterkant, in dit geval 220 - 240
Volts 50 Hz.

Het apparaat dient alleen aangesloten te worden met de
bijgeleverde netkabel, of een soortgelijke.

Maatregelen dienen genomen te worden, die de aarding en
polarisatie van het apparaat niet te niet doen. Gebruik vooral
geen verlengsnoeren.

De lichtnetkabel dient zo neergelegd te worden, dat er niet
op getrapt kan worden of geklemd kan worden door scherpe
voorwerpen. Vooral de aansluitpunten zijn belangrijk: de
aansluiting in de wandcontactdoos en daar waar de kabel het
apparaat binnengaat.

Wanneer het apparaat voor langere tijd niet in gebruik is,
dient de lichtnetkabel uit het lichtnet verwijderd te zijn.

Het apparaat zal in service gegeven moeten worden wanneer
één van de volgende situaties zich voordoet:

• Wanneer het netsnoer en/of steker beschadigd zijn.

• Wanneer er toch voorwerpen/vloeistof in het apparaat
terecht zijn gekomen.

• Als het apparaat in de regen heeft gestaan.

• Als het apparaat niet normaal functioneert of een duidelijk
afwijkend gedrag vertoont..

Wij van Rotel

Het is alweer meer dan 40 jaar geleden dat
een familie met een gepassioneerde
betrokkenheid bij muziek besloot om zelf
geluidsapparatuur van onberispelijke kwaliteit
te gaan vervaardigen onder de naam Rotel.
Door de loop der jaren heen is die passie
gebleven en het familiedoel om audiofielen
en muziekliefhebbers voor aantrekkelijke
prijzen topkwaliteit te bieden wordt door iedere
Rotel-employé gesteund.

De technici werken als een hecht team al
tweakend en luisterend totdat ieder nieuw
produkt dat muzikale niveau heeft bereikt dat
hun bij de aanvang voor ogen stond. Zij
worden volkomen vrijgelaten in hun keuze van
componenten, waar ze ook van de wereld
vandaan moeten komen. In Rotel apparatuur
kunt u condensatoren vinden uit Duitsland en
Engeland of half geleiders uit Amerika en
Japan, terwijl de ringkerntransformatoren in
eigen huis worden vervaardigd.

Onze goede reputatie werd gevestigd door
honderden waarderende testrapporten en vele
onderscheidingen die wij hebben mogen
ontvangen van mensen die uit professie dag
in dag uit naar muziek luisteren. Hun kritiek
houdt ons bij de les: het vervaardigen van
muzikale, betrouwbare en betaalbare
apparatuur.

Aan de slag met de RB-1050

Wij danken u voor de aankoop van onze
RB-1050 eindversterker. Wij zijn ervan
overtuigd, dat de muziek d.m.v. deze RB-1050
ten gehore gebracht, voor u een jarenlange
bron van plezier zal zijn.

De RB-1050 is een moderne twee-kanaals
eindversterker. Discrete uitgangstrappen, een
grote voedingshuishouding uitgerust met een
ringkerntransformator, eerste klas onderdelen
en natuurlijk Rotel’s “Balanced Design” con­cept garanderen een superbe geluidskwaliteit.
En z’n capaciteit veel stroom te kunnen leveren
maakt hem tot een perfecte maat voor de
moeilijkste luidspreker.

Wees ervan doordrongen dat de RB-1050 heel
veel vermogen kan leveren: meer dan 70 watts
per kanaal aan 8Ω. Overtuig u van het feit
of uw luidsprekers bij uw manier van gebruik
van deze versterker tegen dit vermogen zijn
opgewassen. Twijfelt u, neem dan contact op
met uw leverancier.

De RB-1050 is heel gemakkelijk te installeren
en te bedienen, helemaal als u al ervaring heeft
met andere eindversterkers. Koop een paar
kwaliteits aansluitkabels, verbindt middels deze
kabels de RB-1050 met uw voorversterker, sluit
uw luidsprekers aan en geniet.

Een paar
voorzorgsmaatregelen

Leest u vooral goed de gebruiksaanwijzing.
Er staat behalve over het installeren en de
bediening, belangrijke informatie in over de
verschillende manieren waarop u de RB-1050
in uw installatie kan inpassen alsmede
algemene richtlijnen om het maximale uit uw
audio-installatie te halen. Mocht u, ondanks
onze pogingen om het u zo duidelijk mogelijk
te maken, toch nog vragen hebben aarzel dan
niet om met uw Rotel dealer contact op te
nemen hij heeft vast en zeker de antwoorden.

Bewaar als het even kan de verpakking. Altijd
handig bij een eventuele verhuizing of wanneer
het apparaat opgestuurd moet worden voor
reparatie, want er is geen betere bescherming
tijdens transport dan zijn eigen doos.

Wanneer u van de ongelofelijk lange garantie
van 5 jaar wilt genieten moet u wel even uw
garantiebewijs invullen, door uw dealer laten
afstempelen, een deel opsturen naar de
importeur en uw deel goed bewaren bij de
nota van uw leverancier.

Een plek voor de RB-1050

Doordat de RB-1050 nogal een krachtpatser
is, kan hij behoorlijk warm worden. De
koelribben en de ventilatie-openingen zijn er
echter voor om deze hitte adequaat af te
afvoeren. Die ventilatie-openingen aan de
bovenkant moeten vrij zijn en de hele versterker
moet een ruimte van ongeveer 10cm. om zich
heen hebben. Alleen onder deze
omstandigheden kan de koeling goed zijn
werk doen.

Gebruik uw gezonde verstand wanneer u een
plek zoekt voor de RB-1050. Controleer of
de plank waarop of het meubel waarin u hem
zet het gewicht wel kan torsen.

Het aansluiten op het
lichtnet en de bediening

De lichtnetaansluiting

Door het enorme vermogen dat de RB-1050
kan leveren, zijn er momenten dat hij erg veel
vermogen uit het lichtnet opeist. Het is daarom
het beste de steker van de RB-1050 direct in
het lichtnet te steken zonder tussenkomst van
verlengsnoeren. Een multi stekkerdoos mag
alleen gebruikt worden als hij geschikt is voor
de totale stroomafname van alle apparaten
die erop worden aangesloten.

Zorg dat de versterker uitgeschakeld staat
wanneer u het bijgeleverde netsnoer op de
versterker en op het lichtnet aansluit.

Uw RB-1050 is ingesteld op het lichtnet-volt­age van het land waarin hij gekocht is. In uw
geval dus 230/240 volts. U kunt het ingestelde
voltage controleren op de achterkant van het
apparaat.

Extra informatie: Mocht u ooit moeten
verhuizen naar een land met een ander
voltage, dan is de versterker op dat andere
voltage in te stellen. Doe deze operatie
NIET zelf, maar laat hem verrichten door
uw Rotel leverancier. Deze handelingen
zijn voor een niet ingewijde niet van
gevaar ontbloot.

Als u van plan bent om langdurig van huis
te zijn, adviseren wij u uw gehele beeld en
geluidsinstallatie (dus ook de RB-1050) van
het lichtnet te ontkoppelen.

De aan/uitschakelaar met
bijbehorende indicator

De aan/uitschakelaar vindt u midden op de
voorkant van de versterker onder de
aanduiding “POWER”. Wanneer u de RB­1050 aan wilt zetten drukt u deze schakelaar
in. Het lampje boven deze schakelaar gaat
nu aan ten teken dat de versterker aan staat.
Wanneer u nu nogmaals de schakelaar indrukt
begrijpt u waarschijnlijk wat er gebeurt: uit
dus.

De 12V
triggerkeuzeschakelaar

De RB-1050 heeft de mogelijkheid om al dan
niet op afstand aan/uit gezet te kunnen
worden. Deze opties kunt u op de achterkant
instellen.

Extra informatie: De aan/uit­schakelaar
het op afstand bedienen op “AAN” staan.

Wanneer schakelaar 10 in de “12V trig”
positie staat wordt de RB-1050 automatisch
aangeschakeld wanneer er een 12 volt signaal
op de 3.5mm “jackplug” ingang komt te staan.
De versterker gaat weer uit (STAND-BY)
wanneer dit signaal verdwijnt.

Wanneer schakelaar 10 in de “SIGNAL SENSE”
positie staat wordt de RB-1050 automatisch
aangeschakeld wanneer er een audiosignaal
op de ingang
gaat (na 5 minuten) weer uit (STAND-BY)
wanneer het audiosignaal verdwijnt.

Wanneer schakelaar 10 in de uitpositie (OFF)
staat kan de versterker alleen maar aan/uit
gezet worden middels de aan/uitschakelaar
“POWER”

De 12V trigger in- en
uitgang

De plug “IN” is voor het verbinden van de
RB-1050 met een 12 volt signaal om de
versterker op afstand aan/uit te kunnen zetten.
De versterker moet voor deze mogelijkheid
wel aanstaan. Deze speciale eigenschap werkt
op ieder signaal met een spanning tussen de
3 en 30 volts.

De plug “OUT” is voor het z.g. doorlussen van
het 12 volts signaal naar een ander compo­nent dat op dezelfde manier werkt. Op deze
uitgang staat het signaal zodra op de “IN”
plug ook dat signaal staat.

De circuitonderbreker

Een circuitonderbreker op de achterkant van de
RB-1050 beschermt de versterker tegen te hoge
stromen in het elektrische circuit. Een dergelijke
onderbreker treedt alleen in werking bij een foute
omstandigheid die leidt tot een zeer hoge stroom.
Om de onderbreker weer te herstellen: druk
gewoon op de knop “AC BREAKER”

Mocht deze ongewenste omstandigheid zich
regelmatig voordoen, waarschuw dan uw Rotel
leverancier.

Het beveiligingscircuit

De RB-1050 is uitgerust met een thermische
beveiliging, welke de versterker behoedt voor
schade veroorzaakt door foutief of extreem
gebruik. Niet zoals bij vele andere versterkers,
werkt dit beveiligingscircuit onafhankelijk van
het audiosignaal dus heeft het geen invloed
op de geluidsweergave. De beveiliging houdt
continu de temperatuur in de gaten en schakelt
de versterker uit wanneer deze te heet wordt.

Hoogst waarschijnlijk ziet u dit circuit nooit
in werking treden. Mocht dit echter toch
gebeuren, dan stopt de versterker met het
produceren van geluid en de indicator bij
“PROTECTION” gaat branden.

Gebeurt dit, schakel de versterker dan uit, laat
hem gedurende enkele minuten afkoelen en
probeer er ondertussen achter te komen wat
de oorzaak van het probleem zou kunnen zijn
geweest. Wanneer u nu de versterker weer
aan zet, zal het beveiligingscircuit zichzelf
herstellen en gaat de indicator weer uit.

In de meeste gevallen wordt het
beveiligingscircuit geactiveerd door een
foutieve aansluiting b.v. kortsluiting van de
luidspreker-bedrading of slechte ventilatie bij
een oververhitte situatie.

Slechts in uitzonderlijke gevallen zal de
impedantie (extreem laag) of de Inductie (zeer
hoog) van een luidspreker de oorzaak zijn
van het ingrijpen van het beveiligingscircuit.

De “klip” indicators

Beide kanalen hebben een klipindicator.
“Klippen” is het vervormingsverschijnsel
wanneer een versterker meer moet presteren
dan hij kan. Klippen komt van het Engelse
“clipping”: het afvlakken van de originele
sinusvorm van het signaal. Wanneer u dus
de indicators regelmatig ziet knipperen moet
u het volume wat temperen. Behalve dat het
naar is om naar een vervormd geluid te
luisteren, is het ook slecht voor uw luidsprekers.
Klippend signaal wordt namelijk in warmte
omgezet omdat de luidspreker er geen geluid
van kan maken, met alle gevolgen van dien.
Het verschijnsel kan ook het beveiligingscircuit
activeren!

Het aansluiten van de
ingangen

De RB-1050 sluit u aan middels kabels met
de bekende cinchpluggen.

Extra informatie: Het is zeer verstandig
voor uw gehoor en luidsprekers dat
wanneer u signaalverbindingen maakt van
welke aard dan ook, uw apparatuur UIT
staat.

Gebruik indien mogelijk hoogwaardige
verbindingskabels. Verbindt de linker uitgang
van uw voorversterker of signaal processor
(“LEFT”) met de linker cinchingang van de RB­1050 en de rechter uitgang van de
voorversterker (“RIGHT”) met de rechter
cinchingang van de RB-1050.

De ingangsniveau-regelaars

Met de twee regelaars op de voorkant kunt
u de geluidssterkte van de RB-1050 regelen.
Normaal gesproken staan deze regelaars
helemaal voluit (rechtsom). Er zijn echter
omstandigheden zoals bij bi-ampen of in een
multiroom toepassing dat deze regellaars
moeten worden ingesteld. Gebruik om deze
regelaars in te stellen een
fittingschroevendraaier.

Het zijn ingangsregelaars dus het
eindvermogen van de RB-1050 wordt niet
aangetast.

De signaaldoorgifte
aansluitingen

Het signaal dat van de voorversterker de
ingang ingaat van de RB-1050 staat ook weer
tot uw beschikking op de signaaldoorgifte
aansluitingen “SIGNAL OUTPUT LINK”
In b.v. multiroom toepassingen heeft u dit
signaal nodig om naar een volgende versterker
in het systeem te voeren.

Luidsprekers

De luidsprekerkeuze

Wij raden u aan om bij de RB-1050
luidsprekers te gebruiken die minstens een
nominale impedantie hebben van 4Ω. Daar
bij parallel-schakeling de totale weerstand
kleiner is dan de laagst gebruikte weerstand
en de nominale impedantie nooit de weerstand
over het gehele frequentiespectrum voorstelt,
moet u bij gebruik van meerdere luidsprekers
op dezelfde uitgangen ervoor zorgen dat de
totale impedantie van de onderlinge
luidsprekers nooit onder de 4Ω komt. Dat komt
er in de praktijk op neer dat wanneer u twee
luidsprekers per kant aansluit de weerstand
onderling niet lager dan 8Ω mag zijn. Met
deze regel in acht genomen zal u weinig
problemen hebben met wat voor luidspreker
dan ook. Mocht u toch nog vragen hebben
over dit onderwerp, dan weet u uw handelaar
te vinden.

De luidsprekerkabelkeuze

Om de volle potentie van deze geweldenaar
te kunnen ondergaan adviseren wij u hoge
kwaliteits luidsprekerkabel te gebruiken.
Standaard twee-aderig draad werkt wel, maar,
en u kunt het geloven of niet, de kwaliteit van
de kabel is echt van grote invloed op de totale
prestaties van uw installatie. Informeer eens
bij uw Rotel leverancier over de diverse
mogelijkheden voor uw installatie.

Alles in fase

Het is niet alleen belangrijk dat u de
luidsprekers met de juiste kanalen verbindt,
(hiermee bedoelen wij links aan links en rechts
aan rechts enz.), maar ook dat u ze correct

aansluit t.o.v. het signaal. Kortom, wat te
doen? Zorg ervoor dat de + (rood) van de
speaker aan de + van de versterker is
aangesloten en dus de — (zwart) van de
speaker aan de — van de versterker. Goede
luidsprekerkabel, zoals in het vorige
onderwerp besproken, is, om het u
gemakkelijk te maken, meestal gemerkt
doordat een tekst op een van de twee aders
is afgedrukt of inderdaad een van de twee
geleiders gemerkt is met een kleur. Als u die
tekst of kleur op beide/alle kanalen als plus
aanhoudt dan weet u dat u het goed gedaan
heeft. Controle is dan ook niet meer
noodzakelijk.

Het aansluiten van de
luidsprekers

Op de achterkant heeft de RB-1050 twee
luidsprekeruitgangen, met de bo-venvermelde
kleurcodering. U kunt daar de kaalgestripte
luidsprekerkabel direct door het dwarsgat
insteken en de draaipluggen aandraaien,
achter de draaiknoppen klemmen via de
bekende vorkjes of (indirect) met
banaanpluggen, hoewel dat eigenlijk binnen
de Europese gemeenschap niet mag.

Overtuig uzelf of u de juiste luidspreker op
de juiste uitgang aansluit. Oftewel links (“LEFT”)
op links en rechts (“RIGHT”) op rechts. Gebruik
genoeg kabel om eventueel bij calamiteiten
de luidspreker of de versterker weg te kunnen
schuiven.

Als u tegen alle community-regels in toch
banaanpluggen wilt gebruiken, moet u de
draaipluggen wel helemaal aandraaien.

Als u aansluitvorkjes gebruikt, moet u deze
achter de draaipluggen vastklemmen. Bij het
gebruik van blank gemaakte kabel moet u er
goed op letten dat u bij het strippen geen deel
van het draad zelf afstript.

aansluiten geen sluiting maakt. Losse

Wat te doen bij
problemen?

De meeste problemen in geluidsinstallaties
ontstaan door slechte aansluitingen of het
verkeerd gebruik van de knoppen en toetsen.
Als u problemen tegenkomt, probeer ze dan
te lokaliseren: check eerst de
bedieningsorganen en maak eventueel de
juiste correcties. Komt u er dan nog niet uit,
probeer dan de onderstaande suggesties:

De lichtnet-indicator werkt
niet

Het is duidelijk: uw RB-1050 ziet het lichtnet
niet. Controleer of de aan/uitschakelaar
“POWER” wel ingedrukt is en controleer tevens
of de lichtnetkabel zowel op de versterker als
op de wandcontactdoos goed en stevig is
aangesloten.

Hij geeft geen geluid

De lichtnetindicator brandt wel, maar jammer
genoeg weinig welluidende klanken.
Controleer eerst of de beveiligingsindicatoren
branden. Is dat inderdaad het geval, handel
dan als onderstaand. Zo niet, check dan alle
verbindingen en of de toetsen en knoppen van
de voorafgaande apparatuur wel juist zijn
ingesteld.

De beveiligingsindicator licht
op

Als de beveiligingsindicator oplicht is er iets
loos. Er zijn nu drie mogelijkheden: de
ventilatiegaten bovenop de versterker worden
geblokkeerd, er heerst kortsluiting bij de
luidsprekeruitgangen of er is een tijdje lang
extreem met de RB-1050 te keer gegaan. Zet
de versterker eerst uit, check dan de eerste
twee mogelijkheden. De derde mogelijkheid
weet u zelf het best. Wacht een paar minuten
om de RB-1050 de gelegenheid te geven af
te koelen. Zet de versterker weer aan. Nu moet
het probleem zijn opgelost. Doet ‘ie het nu
nog niet, dan is het tijd om contact met uw
niet aflatende leverancier op te nemen.
