The Next Generation of Bass Guitar Pickup.
The GK-2B Divided Pickup for Bass sends an individual output for each string of a 4-, 5- or 6-string bass. Thanks to a unique design with moving magnets, you can set it up for optimal performance with a range of bass guitars.*
*Note that the V-Bass is the only product currently compatible with the GK-2B pickup. You cannot use this pickup with the GR-33, VG-88, or WP/OC-20G.

Once a musical instrument generates sound vibrations, it reaches the human ear through various mediating objects, each of which significantly affects the
magnetic amplifying system, the air and the reverberation of the room all affect the final sound. Sound modeling, the latest DSP technology, "virtually" reconstructs these objects. Roland's breakthrough Composite Object Sound Modeling (COSM) uses the advantages of multiple modeling methods and succeeds in accurately emulating existing sounds, as well as producing sounds that have never before been created.

with Endless Possibilities.
Sonic Inspiration Starts Here.
Imagine a bass guitar processing system which accurately models the world’s most popular basses—everything from classic electrics to upright acoustic bass, fretless bass and more— and combines them with the sounds of the world’s greatest amplifiers and polyphonic synth effects. That’s the power of the Roland V-Bass, a floor-based processor which takes bass guitar into new sonic dimensions.
Introducing GK-2B Divided Pickup
for Bass.
The new GK-2B is the first bass pickup which sends an individual output for each string of a 4-, 5- or 6-string bass. This allows the V-Bass to process each string separately, resulting in stunning bass guitar effects. The GK-2B can be easily user-installed on standard electric basses.
power the V-Bass. COSM Bass technology can process a standard bass guitar with a GK-2B Divided Pickup to sound like a variety of other basses— including acoustic upright bass, fretless bass, a variety of classic electric basses, synth bass and more—and you can even design custom basses by combining different body types and pickup configurations. Of special note is the polyphonic pitch shifting, which can re-pitch individual strings for instant alternate tunings and wild sound effects. The V-Bass’ polyphonic processing also provides some of the best-sounding synth bass tones ever developed, and you can even play synth bass chords!
like the originals, then pair them with a variety of modeled speaker cabinets to get just the sound you’re after. You can even select the mic position on the speaker cab for a legit full sound. So why lug a stack of bass amps when you can plug in and get just the right sound, every time, with the V-Bass?
Effects for All Seasons.
The comprehensive effects processing section of the V-Bass features a variety of wah sounds, modeled overdrive/distortion pedals, compressors, pitch shifting, extensive EQ, delay, chorus and reverb. All of these effects rank among the finest Roland and BOSS have ever produced. Select an overdrive/distortion pedal model for a bit of grind, tap into killer octave and chorusing, create and save custom pitch-shifted sounds, and much much more.
Extremely Natural Response with
Polyphonic Processing.
Since the GK-2B Divided Pickup detects the vibrations of each string individually and in real time, so there’s no delay. All of the V-Bass’ processing is then performed to the actual waveforms from the strings, so all of your expressive nuances remain intact. As a result, playing through the V-Bass feels like playing through an amp, but with so many more possibilities.

Sounds.
As a recording and performance tool, the V-Bass stands alone. Thanks to COSM Bass Amp Modeling, the V-Bass can precisely model the sound of classic and modern bass amps, from “CONCERT 810” and “SESSION” models to “T.E.”, “BASS 360” and others—all giving you the sonic signature and control of the original classic amps. V-Bass Algorithms
Roland's Revolutionary V-Bass
With the V-Bass, not only can you make your regular fretted instrument sound like an acoustic or fretless bass, but you can also choose simulated pickup configurations and placements. And most exciting to me is the fact that you have access to great synth-bass sounds and can control many sound design parameters. All of this and much more—with incredible tracking! Are you ready for the V-Bass? I am.
