Secondary services
Certain radio stations carry additional services, known as secondary services. This facility enables broadcasters to provide up to date coverage of major events in addition to coverage provided by the main station.
These services are dynamic and can be turned on and off to suit coverage of major sporting or, for example parliamentary events.
At the time this booklet was produced secondary services were only available on BBC 5 Live.
