IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:
1. Read all instructions before using.
2. To protect against risk of electrical shock do not immerse cord, plugs, or motor unit in water or other liquid.
3. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
4. Unplug from outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning.
5. Avoid contacting moving parts. Keep hands, hair, clothing, as well as spatulas or other utensils away during operation to reduce the risk of injury to persons, and/or damage to the appliance.
6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the manufacturer (see warranty) for examination, repair, or electrical or mechanical adjustment.
7. The use of accessory attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock or injury.
8. Do not use outdoors.
9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces, including the stove.
10. Keep fingers, utensils, and other foreign objects out of the Bucket while in use to reduce the risk of injury to persons or to the appliance itself. Do not use sharp objects or utensils inside the Bucket or on the Gel Disc. Sharp objects will scratch and damage the Gel Disc and Bucket. A rubber spatula or wooden spoon may be used when the appliance is turned off.
11. Ice Cream Maker must be completely assembled and motor assembly locked in place before operating.
12. Do not expose Gel Disc to temperatures above 221°F / 105°C.
-E3-
POLARIZED PLUG
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet,
reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way. If the plug fits loosely into the AC outlet or if the AC outlet feels warm do not use that outlet.

HOW IT WORKS
When the mixture comes into contact with the cold surface of the Gel Disc, small ice crystals form. These crystals are scraped away from the top of the Gel Disc by the Mixing Paddle action. The ice crystals slowly build up during the process thereby thickening the mixture into a hard consistency. The time it takes to make the ice cream depends greatly on the type of recipe, the chill time, and the temperature of the mixture.
Before using your ice cream maker for the first time it is good practice to wash the Lid, Bucket, Mixing Paddle and Ingredient Scoop in warm soapy water, rinse well, and dry thoroughly.
Make sure that the Gel Disc is completely dry before freezing. Place the Gel Disc upside down in the freezer. (See Figure 2) Freeze Gel Disc for a minimum of 24 hours. We recommend keeping the Gel Disc in the freezer when not in use. Its compact size will take up a minimum amount of freezer space and you will be able to make your favorite frozen dessert at a moments notice!
NOTE: Place Gel Disc upside down.

Disassemble unit:
1. Turn the switch to the "Off" position and unplug the unit.
2. Remove the Lid by turning it counter-clockwise to unlock.
3. Remove the Motor by pressing the small release Tabs on the underside of the Motor (see Figure 1).
4. Remove the Mixing Paddle.
5. Remove the Gel Disc by lifting it by the Disc Knob.
Cleaning unit:
1. Wash the Lid, Bucket, Mixing Paddle, and Ingredient Scoop in warm soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly. These parts are also dishwasher safe. Please note the Gel Disc is not dishwasher safe.
CAUTION: Under no circumstances should the Motor be immersed in water. Clean the Motor by using a damp cloth.
NOTE: After the Gel Disc is completely dry, you may place it back in the freezer (see figure 2), to be used for future batches of your favorite frozen dessert.
6. Pour your well-chilled recipe into the Bucket through the Ingredient Feeder .
NOTE: The unit must be turned to the "On" position and the Mixing Paddle must be moving when the recipe is poured in.
7. The processing time for making ice cream may vary depending on specific recipes or personal taste. Generally, the freezing process should take 20-30 minutes. When your ice cream is ready, switch the unit to the "Off" position and unplug.
8. Remove Lid and Mixing Paddle and scoop ice cream out of Bucket and into another container.
NOTE: To further harden ice cream, you may place the Bucket with ice cream contents into the freezer for a short period of time (no more than 30 minutes). Long term freezing should be done in an air tight container.
CAUTION: Never insert an object, like a spoon, into the Bucket while the ice cream maker is operating.

1. When your mixture is ready, remove the Gel Disc from the freezer and place it into the bottom of the Bucket. Turn the Gel Disc slightly to make sure it is placed properly in the Bucket, and does not spin.
NOTE: Do not rinse the frozen Gel Disc. A thick film of ice will immediately cover its surface and cause the Mixing Paddle to not operate correctly. A thin film of white frost may cover the surface. Simply remove it with a spatula. To avoid damage, do not use metal or an abrasive tool.
2. Place the Motor and Lid together by aligning the locking tabs on the Motor with the slots in the Lid.
3. Position the Mixing Paddle on top of the Gel Disc.
4. Set the Lid over the rim of the Bucket and turn the Lid clockwise to lock it into position.
5. Plug unit into electrical outlet and set to the "On" position. The Mixing Paddle will begin to rotate.

Recipe Tips
Prepare your recipe in a separate container.
Do not exceed the quantities provided in the recipes.
For best results, the mixture should be chilled until it reaches 3240°F. Depending on the recipe, we recommend chilling the recipe for 2-5 hours in the refrigerator or 1/2 - 1 hour in the freezer. An instant read thermometer is convenient to use when checking the temperature.
Some recipes require the mixture to be pre-cooked. For best results, make the recipe at least one day ahead. This will allow the mixture time to cool completely.
When using eggs in a recipe, make sure they are properly cooked. Heat until the mixture coats the back of a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
The ice cream mixture will stay fresh in the refrigerator for several days. Be sure to shake well before pouring into the unit.
The flavor of sorbet or sherbet will depend greatly on the ripeness and sweetness of the fruit and/or juice. If fruit is too tart, add sugar; if the fruit is very ripe, decrease or omit sugar. Freezing subdues sweetness, so the recipe will not be quite as sweet when frozen.
Freezing Tips
The freezing process will take anywhere from 20-30 minutes. The time it takes depends greatly upon the ambient temperature, type of recipe, chill time, and temperature of the mixture.
Make sure the Gel Disc is placed in the upside down position when freezing.
Make sure the Gel Disc is completely dry before freezing. If a white frost appears, remove it with a spatula.
Make sure the unit is running and the Mixing Paddle is turning as the mixture is being poured into the unit.
Replace the Ingredient Scoop into the Lid while the unit is operating.
To store prepared ice cream, place it in an airtight container.
