Installation Instructions
Circuit Breaker Kits, 2-Pole Part No. 913554 3-Pole Part No. 913740
These instructions are primarily intended to assist qualified individuals experienced in the proper installation of heating and/or air conditioning appliances. Before beginning the installation, read these instructions thoroughly and follow all warnings and cautions in the instructions and on the unit. Improper installation, service, adjustment, or maintenance can cause explosion, fire, electrical shock, or other conditions which may result in personal injury or property damage.
INTRODUCTION
The Circuit Breaker Kit is configured and sized for use in selected air-conditioner and heat pump units based on NEC, UL, and CSA codes. See the unit installation instructions for application details.
within the unit DO NOT provide over-current protection of the supply wiring.
Whether or not circuit breakers are used within the unit, branch circuit over-current protection must be provided at the distribution panel and sized as shown in the unit installation instructions or on the unit data label and per the NEC and applicable local codes. In most cases the over-current protection specified in the unit installation instructions or on the unit data label is less than the 60 amp rating of the Circuit Breaker Kit. This is because the function of the over-current protection required at the distribution panel (field supplied) and the function of the circuit breakers within the unit are different.
When circuit breakers are used they must be used for all circuits within the unit.
Attaching To Bracket: Attach the circuit breakers to the circuit breaker bracket by hooking the bottom slot in the base of the circuit breaker onto the bottom rail of the bracket and rotating up. (See Figure 1) The circuit breaker should snap into place. Install the circuit breakers with the ON marking up.
Removing From Bracket: Remove the single circuit adaptor kit, if used. Insert a screwdriver into the hole in the release tab and pull up while rotating the circuit breaker out and down. The “release tab” is a white plastic tab located at the base of the circuit breaker under the load side terminals.
If the unit is installed with more than one 2-Pole (P/N
913554) Circuit Breaker Kit and a single feeder circuit is desired a single circuit adaptor must be used. Use the 4pole single circuit Adaptor Kit (P/N 913350) when two circuit breakers are used and the 6-pole single circuit Adaptor Kit (P/N 913556) when three circuit breakers are used. A single circuit Adaptor Kit is not available for the 3-Pole (P/N 913740) Circuit Breaker Kit.
