REMOTE POWER SUPPLY

General Description

The RS 3 Remote Power Supply is a general purpose AC
to DC adapter designed to power Rane’s new line of digital
audio equipment. The RS 3 can be used anywhere a high
quality AC to DC power supply is required. The RS 3 has a
universal AC input covering all line voltages and frequencies
for the entire world. The DC outputs of the RS 3 are classified
as safety extra-low voltage (SELV) for both the United States
and Canada and therefore all units powered from the RS 3 are
exempt from safety agency approval requirements for those
countries. The DC outputs of the RS 3 are also below the 50
volt level established by article 1 of the Low Voltage Direc­tive (LVD), thus all units powered from the RS 3 are exempt

from further safety approval testing for the European Com­munity (EC). The RS 3 itself carries the Underwriters
Laboratory (UL) mark, Canadian Standards Association
(CSA) mark, and the European CE mark for both electromag­netic compatibility and product safety. The RS 3 also meets
FCC requirements for unintentional RF radiation.

The desk top style of the RS 3 and integral 4 foot output
cable, along with the included 8 foot long removable input
line cord, allows the RS 3 to be installed in any location away
from the powered unit and AC outlet strip, using the included
mounting bracket and screws. It is recommended that the
RS 3 be mounted away from all sensitive audio equipment
like mic inputs and wireless mic receivers.
