General Description
e Rane RM 1 Sacrament Microphone doesn’t make good Julienne fries, but it does convert audio to an electrical signal like all
great microphones. Unlike most mics, the RM 1 is built into a
vertical-mount metal enclosure with an auto-muting door. When
closed, the door mutes the microphone output. When opened,
the mic unmutes. Both actions are pop-free. An IR transmitter and receiver pair (mounted next to the microphone element)
detects the door position for muting and unmuting (patent
pending). But don’t rest your soda pop on the open door, since
this might stain the included prayer card (intended to mount on
the open door). e RM 1 ships with a mounting template to
assist installers with the drilling of mounting pilot holes. A single
male XLR connector on the RM 1’s rear requires 11-52 volts (at
10 milliamps) phantom power to operate the door-activated muting circuit and power the condenser microphone.
