Your RadioShack Personal Alarm sounds a 90 dB alarm when you press a button or remove its h and strap. Or, you can set it to detect motion and place it where its alarm will alert you to intruders or deter a thie f. It also has a built-in flashlight.
INSTALLING BATTERIES
Your Personal Alarm requires three AAA batteries for power. We recom­mend RadioShack alkaline batteries.
Cautions:
• Use only fresh batteri es of the re­quired size and recommended type.
• Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries.
Follow these steps to install batteries.
1. Gently press on the batte ry com­partment cover and slide it off in the direction of the arrow.
2. Place three AAA batteries in the compartment accordi ng to the po ­larity symbols (+ and –) marked in­side.
3. Replace the cover.
When the alarm's sou nd we akens or th e light dims, replace all three batteries.
Warning:
Dispose of old batteries prop-
erly. Do not burn or bury them.
TRIGGERING THE ALARM
You can set the ala rm to sound when i t detects motion, when you press a but­ton, or when you pull off the hand strap.
Using the Motion Sensor
Place the alarm on a flat, stable surface, then slide the switch to
MOTION ALARM
. The indicator lights for about 30 sec­onds, during which time you can reposi­tion the alarm. After the indicator turns off, the alarm triggers if it is moved.
When the alarm is triggered, its light flashes and a warning tone sounds for about 20 seconds . Then the tone stops and the alarm returns to standby mode. Any further motion wil l trigger the alarm again.
To silence the alarm or turn it off so it does not sound, slid e the switch to the middle or

position. Or, press the black button near the han d strap on the back of the case.

Using the Button
To trigger the alarm in an emergency, (with the switch set to any position), hold down the emergency button near the hand strap. The alarm s ounds until you release the button.
Using the Hand Strap
With the switch s et to any position, use the hand strap to secure the alarm to your wrist. If the hand strap comes off, the alarm sounds until you reinsert the hand strap back into its slot.
USING THE FLASHLIGHT
Slide the switch on the side panel to
LIGHT.
The
light turns on.
REPLACIN G THE BULB
When the bulb burns out, follow these steps to replace it with a replacement bulb (available at y our l oca l RadioShack store).
1. Remove the batteries.
2. Gently press and lift the flashlight's lens.
3. Turn the bulb counterclockwise to remove it.
4. Insert the new bulb and turn it clock­wise. Then insert the flashlight's lens and reinstall the batteries.
CARE
To enjoy your Pers onal Alarm fo r a long time:
• Keep the alarm dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately.
• Use and store the alarm o nly i n nor­mal temperature environments.
• Handle the alarm gently and careful­ly. Don’t drop it.
• Keep the alarm away from dus t and dirt.
• Wipe the alarm with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new.
Modifying or tampering with the alarm’s internal components can cause a mal­function and invalidate its warranty. If your alarm is not performing as it should, take it to your local RadioShack store for assistance.
