At the end of a nickel-cadmium battery's useful life, it must be recycled
or disposed of properly. Contact your
local, county, or state hazardous
waste management a uth ori t ies for information on recycling or disposal programs in your
area or call 1-800-843-7422. Some options that might
be available are: municipal curbside collection, dropoff boxes at reta ilers such as your local RadioShack
store, recycling collection centers, and mail-back programs.

PREPARATION
CONNECTING POWER
You can power your radio from any of these sources.
• internal AA batteries (not supplied)
• internal Ni-Cd rechargeable battery pack (supplied)
• built-in power generator (dynamo)
Using AA Batteries
Your radio can use two AA batteri es (n ot su ppl ied ) for
power. For the best performance and longest life, we
recommend RadioShack alkaline batteries.
Caution:
• Use only fr esh batt eries of t he requ ired size and
recommended type
• Do not mix old and new batteries, different types
of batteries (standard, alkaline, or rechargeable).
Follow these steps to install batteries.

1. Remove the battery compartment cover by pushing in the cover’s two t abs (sh ow n re mo ve d) then
pulling the cover in the direction of the arrow
marked on the cover.
2. Place the batteries in the compartment, as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and –) marked
inside.
3. Replace the cover.
