Thank you for purchasing a RadioShack 22-Channel GMRS/FRS Two-Way Radio. You can use your radio to communicate at almost any time. You can talk to your friends in the next room, next door, and around the neighborhood. Your radio transmits and receives on General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) and Family Radio Service (FRS) frequencies. See your Owner’s Manual for licensing information.

adjustments.Your radio is set uptotransmit a regulated signalon an assigned frequency. It is against the law to alter or adjust the settings inside the radio to exceed those limitations. Any adjustments made to your radio must be made by a qualified technician using the proper test equipment. Never open your radio's case. Never change or replace anythingin your radio except the batteries.

INSTALLING BATTERIES
You can use four AA Ni-MH batteries, or four AA Ni-Cd batteries, or fourAA alkaline batteries (none supplied) to power your radio. Batteries are available at your local RadioShack storeoronlineat www.radioshack.com.Youcan rechargeNi-MH batteries in the radio using an optional smart chargeror AC or DC adapter. It takes about 2 hours for Ni-MH or Ni-Cd batteries to charge using a smart charger or 10 hours using an AC or DC adapter.
OPERATION

1. Turnoff the radio by rotating VOL/OFF clockwise until it clicks.
2. Pull down the latch on the battery compartment cover and remove the cover.
3. Set
CHARGE ON/OFF inside the battery compartment to ON if you use rechargeable
batteries or to according to the polarity symbols (+ and –) marked inside.
4. Replace the cover and push the latch up until it clicks. Then rotate counterclockwise until it clicks to turn on the radio.

Using Keylock

USING KEY TONE AND VIBRATE
You can set the radio so it sounds a tone when you press any key except PTT or FUNC. You can also set the radio to vibrate when it receives a signal after the radio is idle for 30 seconds.
To turn on the key tone and vibrate feature, press function and press setting. Repeat these procedures to turn off the key tone and vibrate feature.
To turn on the key tone and turn off the vibrate feature, press the Menu function and press store the setting.

RESETTING THE RADIO
If the radio’s display locks up or the radio does not work properly after you turn it on, turn it off and then on again. If this does not correct the problem, remove the batteries, wait about ten minutes, then reinstallthem.

USING AC POWER/ V
EHICLE BATTERY POWER
You can charge the batteries in the radio from a standard AC outlet or even your vehicle using a 6V, series-regulated, DC adapter and a size F Adaptaplug™ adapter (neither supplied). Both are available at your local RadioShack store.
