Dear Customer,
We would like to thank you for the confidence you placed in Polti choosing this
product.
Vaporella Pratica is specially designed for fabrics: it will help you in ironing, spotting, refreshing and eliminating smells.Vaporella can also been used to clean and sanitise small surfaces in your house using just the power of steam.
Thanks to its wide range of accessories, Vaporella can be used for many different jobs, with its trolley it can follow you wherever it is needed.
Vaporella allows you to achieve perfect ironing, saving time and effort. By using professional iron it is not necessary to press or iron over repeatedly but just let the iron slide gently over the fabric.
The pressure of its steam jet produced in the boiler gets right into the fibre of the fabric eliminating every crease in just one single pass. The power of Vaporella steam is so strong that allows you to iron more than one ply of fabric at a time (making ironing sheets, for example, many time faster). You can even iron curtains while still hanging thanks to the special accessory of Vaporella Pratica.
You can also remove stains with steam power, because the equipment of Vaporella Pratica includes the same stain remover gun as used in professional laundries. The garment freshener accessory helps to remove bad smells and dandruff from garments with the steam jet. Moreover, Vaporella is provided with a steam gun, equipped with some accessories for steam cleninig small surfaces fastly, using the power of the steam produced in its boiler.
Vaporella Pratica helps you to work safely. This product conforms with very strict regulations and is equipped with exclusive safety devices, among them the patented safety cup, which prevents the device being opened (including by accident) as long as there is slightest pressure inside the boiler.
Please read these usage instructions carefully before using this product.
We hope you enjoy using your Vaporella.
This unit conforms with EC-directives 89/336 as amended by 93/68 (EMC) and 73/23 as amended by 93/68 (low voltage).

• Before using your VAPORELLA carefully read these usage instructions.
• Before connecting VAPORELLA to the mains make sure that the current is the same as that indicated for the machine and that the plug is an earthed plug.
• Do not introduce any detergent or chemical substance into the generator tank. Do not put any detergent or chemical substance in the tank. Water by its nature contains magnesium, mineral salts and other deposits which in hard water areas can contribute to limescale build up in the tank. To avoid these problems, it is necessary to swill out with tapwater and empty the generator tank after every 3 or 4 uses. In very hard water areas we recommend the use of our KALSTOP FP 2003, a special natural-base decalcifier which inhibits and breaks down limescale, making it easy to remove just by swilling out the tank with a little tapwater. This is a preventive against scale build-up and protects the metal walls of the steam generator tank. KALSTOP is available from Polti dealers or by mail-order from your Polti Service Centre.
Do not use in any event distilled water or descaler.
• Do not refill the tank while it is still hot, allow it to cool down for a few minutes before refilling.
• During filling and refilling we recommend you disconnect the machine from the mains supply.
• Never empty VAPORELLA when the water inside the generator tank is still hot.
• Do not place the appliance or any of the tools whilst connected in water or in any other liquids.
• Do not touch the appliance with wet hands and feet whilst the appliance is connected to the mains.
• Never leave the appliance unattended whilst it is connected to the mains.
• Do not allow VAPORELLA to be used by children or by people who are not familiar with the usage instructions.
• When Refilling the generator tank, use HOT rather than cold water, pour in gently at first and keep your face away. Otherwise the still hot tank walls can spit drops of very hot water or steam spray.
• When cleaning ovens, refrigerators and other electrical appliances, ALWAYS clean with the electricity supply switched off to the appliance you are cleaning, and make sure you keep the steam well away from the parts which will be live when the appliance is re-connected.
• Do not leave the appliance exposed to wind or rain.
• Do not lay the hot appliance on surfaces sensitive to heat.
• Do not use electric extension leads that are not authorized by the manufacturer, as they may cause damage or fire.
• In case of breakdown or malfunction switch off the appliance and never attempt to disassemble it, but refer to an authorized service center.
• In case of accidental fall of the appliance it is necessary to have it checked by an authorized service center as the internal safety features may have been affected.
• Never direct the jet of steam towards small particles of debris without first protecting the user’s eyes.
•We recommend that the appliance is disconnected from the mains whenever it is not in use.
Never place your hands inside the jet of steam.
Danger of burns!
Do not direct the steam jet at people or animals.

Before using the stain remover gun, it is advisable to carefully read these instructions which allow a correct classification of stains and supply accurate advice on the most appropriate way of operating.
IIDDEENNTTIIFFYYIINNGGTTHHEESSTTAAIIN
N
In order to act properly on stains, it is important to be able to distinguish them. Identifying the stain means understanding its origin and age. This allows you to avoid unsuccessful attempts which often, as well as not producing an optimal result, can also be damaging.
“THE AGE”
All RECENT stains can be removed with the stain remover gun without having to wash the item. As they get older, stains attach themselves to the fabric’s fibres and in some cases, steam cannot remove them. In such cases it is necessary to wash the item. If the recently stained fabrics are treated immediately with mineral water, the stain does not attach itself to the fibres and subsequent steam cleaning with the stain remover gun will prove quicker and more effective.
“THE ORIGIN”
Stains are produced from substances of various origins and according to the base of the predominant substance they can be classified as having the following origin:
ANIMAL (protein base): soup and meat sauce, milk and cream, blood, sweat, egg, urine, vomit.
VEGETABLE (tannin base): beer, coffee, chocolate, Coca-Cola, fruit, wine, tea.
VARIOUS (specific stains): paint, lip-stick, biro, tar, rust, perfume.
To better identify the origins of the staining substance you can help yourself by using your senses. The shape, touch, colour and location are very important.

•Proceed as described in the “PREPARATION FOR USE” paragraph. To obtain steam from the stain remover gun, press button (10).
• At the first steam request, a few drops of water mixed with steam may come out of the soleplate until the temperature stabilises. It is advisable to direct the first jet of steam onto a cloth.
• The powerful jet of steam produced can be used effectively as follows, as a function of the type and size of stain.
• If operating on a SUPERFICIAL STAIN, you must direct the jet of steam to skim the fabric in proximity of the stain in order to project the dirt with the pressure against a cloth used to collect it (fig. 14).
• If operating on a DEEP STAIN, you must turn the item inside out and act on the fabric from the inside. After resting it on a sponge, direct the jet of steam onto the stain so that the dissolved dirt can exit from the opposite side of the fabric and be absorbed by the sponge (fig. 15).

• When dealing with coloured items, it is advisable to test the colour resistance on a section of non visible material.
• Use moderately with silk items and acetate based fibres.
• Simple methods are often the most effective: a shot of steam is sufficient to eliminate even the most resistant stains.
• Ensure that the stain has been completely removed from the fabric before ironing it, as the iron’s heat fixes the stain permanently.
•To obtain an even better result, it is advisable to perform the cleaning operations on an ironing table equipped with a suction board, such as Polti Stira e Aspira.
• DO NOT use the steam on blood stains as blood coagulates with heat thus fixing the stain permanently.
• Should the stain persist, do not dry the item before acting a second time. Should the stain persist even after the second attempt, it is advisable to contact a qualified dry cleaning centre.
•Asummary table accurately classifying the types of stains in relation to the appropriate cleaning method advisable has been compiled.
• Always do a test on a non visible part of the item first or on a sample.
• Never leave the gun within the reach of children, it is recommended to disconnect it when it is not in use.

Curtain freshener accessory (19) (Fig. 18)
specially designed to iron curtains vertically without removing them. How to use it: At first steam request a few drops of water may come out due to thermal stabilization of the steam tube, so it is advisable to direct the first jet of steam onto an old cloth.
Move the accessory downwards in order to iron the curtains and to eliminate creases or smells, the useful sponge attached to the accessory will absorbe any excess drops of steam. Adjust the strenght of the steam jet according to the kind of fabric to be ironed. To prevent the sponge wetting the curtains with absorbed water, simply remove the sponge and sqeeze it out, then replace the sponge by reattaching to the accessory with velcro strips and go on with ironing.
Garment freshener (20) (Fig. 19)
• This accessory is suggested to remove crumbs, dandruff,
animal hairs and hairs from jumpers, trousers, jackets,
overcoats and from other textiles. How to use it: pass the accessory against the nap so as to remove all particles on the item to be treated. Vaporize the cloth eliminating creases and bad smells.
Small round bristled brush (21) (Fig. 20)
•To remove encrusted dirt in inaccessible places, such as corners, cookers, toilet bowls, car interiors.

All Polti machines are equipped with the unique Polti patented safety cap, which prevents opening of the generator tank as long as there is any pressure remaining inside the tank. This is an important and indispensable safety device, and it is necessary to follow certain procedures when re-filling the tank. Lack of water is indicated by the (4) indicator light, which will light up. When you have used up all the water in the tank, do as follows:
Switch off the heater on/off switch (2).
•Press the steam request button on the iron (10) so as to fully exhaust the steam
supply from the tank.
Disconnect the power supply cable from the mains.
Unscrew anti-clockwise the patented safety cap (1).
•Wait for a few minutes to allow the generator tank to cool down.
When cool proceed to carefully refill the tank as described in paragraph 1a of the sec-
tion “PREPARATION FOR USE” in the instructions. If refilling the generator when not completely cooled, we recommend that you carefully pour only very small quantities of water at each pouring into the tank, so as to avoid spitting from the tank.
