Diffraction is a type of distortion that occurs when sound reflects off an object such as a speaker grille frame or driver basket. The re-radiated
sounds smear the original sound, much like ghost images on a TV smear the picture. Sound wave reflections (diffraction), color the sound and make
the speaker sound “closed in” and “boxy.” Polk Audio uses a variety of techniques—such as narrow cabinets with rounded baffles, raised bezels,
