My head set does not wo rk
with the base unit.
• Check t hat the lights o n the base unit ar e on. If not, ref er to above
section “I plugged everythi ng in but the light s won’t come on.”

Check th at the home phon e adapter is plug ged firmly into t he wall
teleph one jack (wit h or without usi ng the splitt er).
• Check th at the home phon e adapter base c ord is plugged fi rmly
into the b ase cord jack .
• Heads et may be out of ra nge of the base. M ove closer to ba se unit
until he adset is with in range. Ran ge varies w ith home envi ronment.
• Heads et battery i s dead. Rechar ge batter y by placing he adset in
the headset charging cradle. See page 8.
• List ening volume to o low. Press th e volume up but ton on headset .
If volum e is still too low , select anoth er listening v olume major
adjust s witch sett ing. See page 12 .
• Incorrect configuration dial setting for your phone. Try other configuration dial settings on the base unit. Ensure selected number is
in line with the position indicator. See page 11.
• You may hav e to resubscr ibe your head set with base . See page 18.
Calle rs cannot hea r me. • He adset is muted . Press the mut e button on hea dset to unmute
microphone. See page 13.
• Improper positioning of noise-canceling microphone. Point
microphone towards your chin.
• Spea k volume is too low . Increase spe aking volume b y adjusting
speak ing volume mino r adjust butt ons on base unit a s describe d on
page 13. If volum e is still too lo w, select ano ther speaki ng volume
major ad just settin g as describe d on page 13.
• Incorrect configuration dial setting for your phone. Try other
configuration dial settings on the base unit. Ensure selected number
is in line w ith the positi on indicator. See p age 11.
I can hea r a dial tone in more
than one configuration
position.
Phone will work in more than one configuration dial position. Use
positi on that sounds b est to you and the person you ca ll.
I cannot h ear a dial tone in an y
configuration position.

I cannot h ear caller/d ial tone. • Ch eck that all cor ds and jacks are c onnected co rrectly.
• Check th at home phone ad apter is plugge d firmly into wa ll
telephone jack (with or without using splitter).
• Check t hat home phone a dapter base co rd is plugged fi rmly into
base cord jack.
• Chec k that base has po wer (red ind icator light) a nd headset ba ttery
is fully charged.
• Try oth er phone config uration dia l settings on t he base unit. E nsure
selec ted number is in l ine with the pos ition indica tor. See page 11.
• Ensur e you are in head set mode. Pre ss call contr ol button to se lect
corre ct mode. The t alk indicato r light on the bas e is green.

Reduce speaking volume by changing speaking volume major

• Point microphone towards your chin.
• List ening volume to o high on phone. I f your phone has a h andset
volume control, lower this until distortion disappears.
• If dis tortion is st ill present , lower listen ing volume adj ust button
on headset. If distortion persists, select another listening volume
major ad just switch s etting. Se e page 12.
• Base is t oo close to comp uter or phone. S ee page 9 for pro per
positioning.

• Move C S55H base f urther awa y from your pho ne.
• AC char ger is plugged i nto a power str ip. Plug AC char ger into the
wall directly.
• Picking up another radio frequency. Call Plantronic s Technic al
Assistance Center for an RF filter.
• If a DSL l ine is using the s ame phone line , install a DSL fi lter
(generally provided with DSL equipment).
Battery talk time
performance is
significantly degraded
even after a full recharge.
Batte ry is going ba d. Replace the b attery wi th a new battery pack.
