After installing the universal remote control SRU 5120 you can operate a
maximum of 2 different devices with it:
TV and DVD player/HDD/recorder or VCR.

2.1 Inserting the batteries

Press the cover inwards and slide it in the direction of the arrow.

Place two AAA type batteries into the battery compartment, as
shown.
Replace the cover and click it firmly into place.

2.2 Testing the remote control

The remote control has been programmed to operate most Philips
devices. Because the SRU 5120 may use different signals for each brand
and even for different models of the same brand, it is advisable to test
whether your device responds to the SRU 5120.The example below (TV)
instructs you how to do this.You can repeat the same steps for other
devices (DVD player/recorder or VCR) which you want to operate using
the SRU 5120.

Example of TV:

Turn your TV on manually or use the original remote control.Tune to
channel 1.
Press the TV key to select TV.

• The key lights up.

• If the key does not light up, check whether the batteries are
properly inserted (see ‘2.1 Inserting the batteries’).

Check whether all the keys are working.
For an overview of the keys and their functions see
‘3. Keys and functions’.

• If the TV responds as it should to all of the key commands the SRU 5120
is ready for use.

Tip

If the device does not respond at all or not to all of the key commands,
follow the instructions under ‘2.3 Setting the remote control’,or for
online setup go to: www.philips.com/urc.

2.3 Setting the remote control

This is only necessary if your device does not respond to the SRU 5120.
If that is the case, the SRU 5120 does not recognize the brand and/or
model of your device and you need to program the remote control to do
so.The example below (TV) instructs you how to do this.
You can repeat the same steps for other devices (DVD player/ recorder
or VCR) which you want to operate using the SRU 5120.

Example of TV:

Turn on the TV manually or use the original remote control.Tune in
to channel 1.
Look up the brand of your TV in the code list at the back of this
manual.A four-figure code is shown for each brand.
Note the code for your brand.

Be careful! There are separate tables for TV, DVD and VCR.
Make sure you use the codes from the correct table.

Press the TV key until it flashes twice and then remains lit.

Then enter the code noted in step 2 using the numeric keys.

• The TV key now flashes twice.

• If the key flashes once for an extended period, the code has not

been entered properly or the wrong code has been entered. Start
again from step 2.

Press and hold the Stand-by key of the SRU 5120 until your TV
switches off (stand-by).
Then release the key immediately.

• The SRU 5120 is now set to operate your TV.

Check if you can operate all functions on your TV with the SRU 5120.

• If a key does not function properly,keep it pressed until it works.
Then release the key immediately.
Repeat this for every key that does not work.

• If the TV responds to all of the key commands, the SRU 5120 is
ready for use. Do not forget to note your code.

Keep the TV key pressed for 5 seconds to exit setup mode.

• When no key is pressed for 2 minutes or more the remote control will
exit setup mode automatically.

When setting the remote control for other devices,be sure to enter
and exit setup mode with the appropriate mode key.DVD for DVD
player/ recorder and VCR.

Full search setup

If your code does not work or if the brand of your device is not
mentioned in the code list, you can try setting the remote control with
full search setup.

Press the mode key of the device you wish to set up the remote
control for. E.g. the TV key.
Press the key until it flashes twice and then remains lit.

Press and hold the Stand-by key of the SRU 5120 until your TV
switches off (stand-by).
Then release the key immediately.

• The SRU 5120 is now set to operate your TV.

Full search setup takes about 5 minutes.

4.1 Adjusting device selection (Mode keys)

The SRU 5120 is default set for operating TV or DVD.
You can select the device you wish to operate with the TV and DVD
keys. Each mode key allows operation of one device only. If desired, you
can program the keys to select a different kind of device. For example, if
you want to operate a second TV.In the following example you will see
how to configure the DVD key for a second TV.

Switch on the second TV.
Press the DVD key to select DVD.

• The key lights up.

Then keep keys 1 and 6 on the SRU 5120 pressed simultaneously for
three seconds, until the DVD key lights up.

Press keys 9,9 and 2 in that order.

Press the TV key to select TV.
Press the key until it flashes twice and then remains lit.

• The DVD key flashes twice.

The DVD key will now allow you to operate your second TV.

Program the SRU 5120 to operate the second TV.

4.2 Restoring the original functions of your remote control

Keep keys 1 and 6 on the SRU 5120 pressed simultaneously for three
seconds, until one of the mode keys (TV or DVD) flashes twice and
then remains lit.

Press keys 9,8 and 1, in that order.

• The mode key (TV or DVD) flashes twice.
All original functions have now been restored and any extra functions
have been deleted.

5 Frequently asked questions

In this chapter you find answers to the most frequently asked questions
about your universal remote control.

How do I set the remote control for combo devices (TV/VCR,
TV/DVD, DVD/VCR, etc)?

Some combo devices require you to set up two different source selection
keys to control both parts of the combo device. For example, if you have
a TV/DVD combo, you might need to set up one code under the TV key
to control the TV and a separate code under the DVD key to control the
DVD.

The device I want to operate does not respond and the mode
key (TV or DVD) does not flash when I press a key.

Replace the old batteries with two new AAA batteries.

The device I want to operate does not respond but the mode
key (TV or DVD) does flash when a key is pressed.

Point the SRU 5120 at the device and make sure that there are no
obstructions between the SRU 5120 and the device.

The SRU 5120 does not respond properly to commands.

Try programming the SRU 5120 again.
If the device still does not respond, call our helpline.

The Text TV keys do not work.

• Find out whether your TV is equipped with Text TV.

• Maybe the SRU 5120 has to be adapted to the model of
the device. Call our helpline for details.

Une fois la télécommande universelle SRU 5120 installée, vous pouvez
l’utiliser avec 2 différents appareils : téléviseur et lecteur/enregistreur de

2.1 Mise en place des piles

Faites glisser le couvercle en appuyant vers l’intérieur dans la
direction de la flèche.

Insérez deux piles de type AAA dans le compartiment à piles, comme
indiqué.
Replacez le couvercle jusqu’à ce que vous entendiez un déclic.

2.2 Tester la télécommande

La télécommande a été programmée pour fonctionner avec la plupart des
appareils Philips. La télécommande SRU 5120 peut utiliser différents
signaux en fonction de chaque marque et de chaque modèle de la même
marque. C’est pourquoi il est conseillé de vérifier que votre appareil
réponde à la télécommande SRU 5120. L’exemple ci-après (TV) vous
indique comment procéder.Vous pouvez répéter les mêmes étapes pour
d’autres appareils (lecteur/enregistreur de DVD ou magnétoscope) que
vous souhaitez utiliser avec la télécommande SRU 5120.

Exemple d’un téléviseur :

Allumez votre téléviseur manuellement ou à l’aide de sa
télécommande d’origine. Sélectionnez la chaîne 1.
Appuyez sur la touche TV pour sélectionner TV.

• La touche s’allume.

• Si la touche ne s’allume pas, vérifiez que les piles sont insérées
correctement (consultez la section ‘2.1 Mise en place des piles’).

Vérifiez que toutes les touches fonctionnent.

• Si le téléviseur répond correctement à toutes les touches,
la télécommande SRU 5120 est opérationnelle.

2.3 Configuration de la télécommande

Cette opération n’est nécessaire que si votre appareil ne réagit pas à la
SRU 5120. Ce sera le cas si la SRU 5120 ne reconnaît pas la marque ou le
modèle de votre appareil.
Il vous faudra alors programmer la télécommande pour l’appareil.
L’exemple ci-après (TV) vous indique comment procéder.Vous pouvez
répéter les mêmes étapes pour d’autres appareils (lecteur/enregistreur de
DVD ou magnétoscope) que vous souhaitez utiliser avec la
télécommande SRU 5120.

Exemple d’un téléviseur :

Allumez votre téléviseur manuellement ou à l’aide de sa
télécommande d’origine. Sélectionnez la chaîne 1.
Trouvez la marque de votre téléviseur dans la liste des codes au dos
de ce manuel. Un code à quatre chiffres correspond à chaque marque.
Notez le code de votre marque.

Attention ! Il y a des tableaux différents pour le téléviseur, le lecteur
de DVD et le magnétoscope.
Assurez-vous d’utiliser les codes des tableaux appropriés.
Appuyez sur la touche TV jusqu’à ce qu’elle clignote deux fois et
qu’elle reste allumée.

Entrez ensuite le code noté à l’étape 2 à l’aide des touches
numériques.

• La touche TV clignote deux fois.

• Si la touche ne clignote qu’une seule fois pendant une longue
période, c’est que le code n’a pas été entré correctement ou que le
code saisi est incorrect. Recommencez les manipulations à partir de
l’étape 2.

Maintenez enfoncée la touche veille de la SRU 5120 jusqu’à ce que le
téléviseur s’éteigne (en veille).
Puis relâchez la touche immédiatement.

• La SRU 5120 est désormais opérationnelle avec votre appareil.

Vérifiez que vous pouvez utiliser toutes les fonctions de votre
téléviseur avec la télécommande SRU 5120.

• Si une touche ne fonctionne pas correctement, maintenez-la
enfoncée jusqu’à ce qu’elle fonctionne.
Puis relâchez la touche immédiatement. Répétez la même opération
pour les touches qui ne fonctionnent pas.

• Si le téléviseur répond correctement à toutes les touches, la
télécommande SRU 5120 est opérationnelle. N’oubliez pas de noter
votre code.

Maintenez enfoncée la touche TV pendant 5 secondes pour quitter le
mode configuration.

• Si au bout de 2 minutes vous n’appuyez sur aucune touche, la
télécommande quitte automatiquement le mode configuration.

Lorsque la télécommande est configurée avec d’autres appareils,
entrez et quittez le mode configuration à l’aide de la touche de mode
appropriée. DVD pour lecteur/enregistreur DVD ou magnétoscope.

Configuration de recherche complète

Si votre code ne fonctionne pas ou si la marque de votre appareil ne
figure pas dans la liste des codes, vous pouvez essayer de configurer la
télécommande à l’aide de la configuration recherche complète.

4,1 Réglage des sélections de l’appareil

(touches de mode)

La SRU 5120 est paramétrée par défaut pour fonctionner avec un téléviseu
ou un lecteur de DVD.Vous pouvez sélectionner l’appareil que vous
souhaitez utiliser avec la télécommande à l’aide des touches TV et DVD.
Chaque touche de mode permet d’utiliser un appareil uniquement. Si vous
le souhaitez, vous pouvez programmer les touches afin de sélectionner un
autre type d’appareil. Par exemple, si vous voulez faire fonctionner un
second téléviseur. L’exemple suivant vous indique comment configurer la
touche DVD pour un second téléviseur.

Allumez le second téléviseur.
Appuyez sur la touche DVD pour sélectionner DVD.

• La touche s’allume.

Maintenez appuyées simultanément les touches 1 et 6 de la
télécommande SRU 5120 pendant trois secondes, jusqu’à ce que la
touche DVD s’allume.

Appuyez sur les touches 9, 9 et 2 dans l’ordre indiqué.

Ce chapitre contient les réponses aux questions les plus fréquentes sur la
télécommande universelle.

Comment régler la télécommande pour les appareils combinés
(téléviseur/magnétoscope, téléviseur/lecteur de DVD, lecteur de
DVD/magnétoscope, etc.) ?

Pour certains combinés, il y a lieu de programmer deux touches de
sélection de source différentes pour pouvoir commander les deux
appareils. Par exemple, si vous disposez d’un combiné téléviseur/lecteur
de DVD, vous pouvez configurer un code sous la touche TV, pour
commander le téléviseur, et un autre sous la touche DVD, pour
commander le lecteur de DVD.

L’appareil que je souhaite faire fonctionner ne répond pas et la
touche mode (TV ou DVD) ne clignote pas lorsque j’appuie sur
un bouton.

Remplacez les anciennes piles par deux piles neuves AAA.

L’appareil que je souhaite faire fonctionner ne répond pas mais
la touche mode (TV ou DVD) clignote lorsque j’appuie sur un
bouton.

Placez la télécommande SRU 5120 en face de l’appareil et vérifiez qu’il n’y
ait pas d’obstacle entre la SRU 5120 et l’appareil.

La télécommande SRU 5120 ne réagit pas correctement aux
touches.

Essayez de programmer de nouveau la SRU 5120. Si l’appareil ne répond
toujours pas, appelez l’assistance téléphonique.

Les touches télétexte ne fonctionnent pas.

• Vérifiez que votre téléviseur est équipé du mode télétexte.

• La télécommande SRU 5120 doit peut-être être adaptée au modèle de
l’appareil.Appelez l’assistance téléphonique pour plus d’informations.

Nach der Installation der Universal-Fernbedienung SRU 5120 können Sie
bis zu zwei verschiedene Geräte bedienen:TV und DVD-Player/HDD/­Recorder oder Videorecorder.

2 Fernbedienung installieren

2.1 Batterien einlegen

Drücken Sie die Abdeckung nach innen, und schieben Sie sie in
Pfeilrichtung.

Legen Sie zwei Batterien des Typs AAA in das Batteriefach wie oben
dargestellt.
Setzen Sie die Abdeckung wieder ein, drücken Sie darauf, bis sie
hörbar einrastet.

2.2 Fernbedienung testen

Die Fernbedienung wurde so programmiert, dass Sie mit den meisten
Geräten von Philips verwendet werden kann.
Da die SRU 5120 möglicherweise verschiedene Signale für jede Marke
und für unterschiedliche Modelle derselben Marke verwendet,müssen Sie
zunächst testen, ob die SRU 5120 mit Ihrem Gerät funktioniert. Das
unten stehende Beispiel zeigt, wie dies an einem Fernsehgerät
vorgenommen werden kann. Gehen Sie mit anderen Geräten (DVD­Player/ Recorder oder Videorecorder), die Sie mit der SRU 5120
bedienen möchten, gleichermaßen vor.

Beispiel für TV:

Schalten Sie Ihr Fernsehgerät manuell ein, oder verwenden Sie die
Original-Fernbedienung.Wechseln Sie zu Kanal 1.
Drücken Sie die Taste TV, um das Fernsehgerät auszuwählen.

• Die Taste leuchtet auf.

• Wenn die Taste nicht aufleuchtet, überprüfen Sie,
ob die Batterien ordnungsgemäß eingelegt wurden
(siehe ‘2.1 Batterien einlegen’).

Überprüfen Sie, ob alle Tasten einwandfrei
funktionieren.

Sie unter ‘3.Tasten und Funktionen’.

• Wenn das Fernsehgerät auf alle Tastenbefehle reagiert,
kann die SRU 5120 benutzt werden.

2.3 Fernbedienung einstellen

Dies ist nur dann erforderlich, wenn Ihre Fernbedienung nicht auf die SRU
5120 reagiert.Wenn dies der Fall ist, kann die SRU 5120 die Marke
und/oder das Modell Ihres Geräts nicht erkennen. Sie müssen dann die
Fernbedienung programmieren.Das unten stehende Beispiel zeigt, wie
dies an einem Fernsehgerät vorgenommen werden kann.Gehen Sie mit
anderen Geräten (DVD-Player/Recorder oder Videorecorder), die Sie mit
der SRU 5120 bedienen möchten, gleichermaßen vor.

Beispiel für TV:

Schalten Sie Ihr Fernsehgerät manuell ein, oder verwenden Sie die
Original-Fernbedienung.Wechseln Sie zu Kanal 1.
Suchen Sie die Marke Ihres Fernsehgeräts in der Codeliste auf der
Rückseite dieser Anleitung. Für jede Marke wird ein vierstelliger Code
aufgeführt.
Notieren Sie sich den Code für Ihre Marke.

Vorsicht! Fernsehgeräte, DVD-Geräte und Videorecorder werden
separat aufgelistet.
Achten Sie darauf, den Code aus der entsprechenden Spalte
auszuwählen.

Drücken Sie die Taste TV, bis diese zweimal blinkt und anschließend
aufleuchtet.

Geben Sie dann mit den Zifferntasten den in Schritt 2 notierten
Zahlencode ein.

• Die Taste TV leuchtet nun zweimal auf.

• Wenn die Taste einmal lange aufleuchtet, wurde der Code nicht

korrekt oder der falsche Code eingegeben. Beginnen Sie erneut mit
Schritt 2.

Halten Sie die Stand-bytaste auf der SRU 5120 gedrückt, bis Ihr
Fernsehgerät sich ausschaltet (Stand-by).
Lassen Sie dann sofort die Taste los.

• Die SRU 5120 wurde für die Benutzung mit Ihrem Fernsehgerät eingestellt.

Überprüfen Sie, ob Sie alle Funktionen Ihres Fernsehgeräts mit der
SRU 5120 bedienen können.

• Wenn eine Taste nicht ordnungsgemäß funktioniert, halten Sie sie
gedrückt, bis sie funktioniert.
Lassen Sie dann sofort die Taste los.Wiederholen Sie diesen Vorgang
mit jeder Taste, bis diese funktioniert.

• Wenn das Fernsehgerät auf alle Tastenbefehle reagiert, kann die SRU
5120 benutzt werden.
Vergessen Sie nicht, Ihren Code zu notieren.

Halten Sie die Taste TV fünf Sekunden lang gedrückt, um den
Einrichtungsmodus zu beenden.

•

Wenn zwei Minuten lang keine Taste gedrückt wurde, beendet die
Fernbedienung automatisch den Einrichtungsmodus.

Wenn Sie die Fernbedienung für die Benutzung mit anderen Geräten
einstellen, müssen Sie für das Wechseln in und das Beenden des
Einrichtungsmodus die entsprechende Modustaste verwenden.Taste
DVD für DVD-Player/Recorder und Videorecorder.

Einstellung durch vollständige Suche

Wenn Ihr Code nicht funktioniert oder wenn die Marke Ihres Geräts in
der Codeliste nicht aufgeführt wird, versuchen Sie, die Fernbedienung mit
einer vollständigen Suche einzustellen.

Drücken Sie die Modustaste des Geräts, für das Sie die Fernbedienung
einstellen möchten, z. B. die Taste TV.
Drücken Sie die Taste, bis diese zweimal blinkt und anschließend
aufleuchtet.

Halten Sie die Stand-bytaste auf der SRU 5120 gedrückt, bis Ihr
Fernsehgerät sich ausschaltet (Stand-by).
Lassen Sie dann sofort die Taste los.

• Die SRU 5120 wurde für die Benutzung mit Ihrem Fernsehgerät
eingestellt.

Die Einrichtung durch vollständige Suche dauert
ca. 5 Minuten.

4 Zusätzliche Möglichkeiten

4.1 Geräteeinstellungen ändern (Modustasten)

Die SRU 5120 ist standardmäßig für die Verwendung mit einem
Fernsehgerät oder einem DVD-Gerät eingerichtet.Wählen Sie die
Geräte, die Sie bedienen möchten, mit den Tasten TV und DVD aus.
Mit jeder Modustaste kann jeweils nur ein Gerät bedient werden. Bei
Bedarf können die Tasten auch für andere Geräte programmiert werden,
wenn z. B. ein zweites Fernsehgerät verwendet werden soll. Im folgenden
Beispiel wird gezeigt,
wie die Taste DVD für ein zweites Fernsehgerät konfiguriert werden
kann.

Schalten Sie das zweite Fernsehgerät ein.
Drücken Sie die Taste DVD, um ein DVD-Gerät auszuwählen.

• Die Taste leuchtet auf.

28 Zusätzliche Möglichkeiten

Halten Sie anschließend die Tasten 1 und 6 auf der
SRU 5120 gleichzeitig drei Sekunden lang gedrückt,
bis die Taste DVD aufleuchtet.

Drücken Sie die Tasten 9, 9 und 2 in dieser
Reihenfolge.

Drücken Sie die Taste TV, um das Fernsehgerät auszuwählen. Drücken
Sie die Taste, bis diese
zweimal blinkt und anschließend aufleuchtet.

• Die Taste DVD blinkt zweimal.
Sie können nun mit der Taste DVD das zweite Fernsehgerät bedienen.

Programmieren Sie die SRU 5120 für die Verwendung mit einem
zweiten Fernsehgerät. Siehe ‘2.3 Fernbedienung einstellen’.
