All OPTIMUS 50/65/80 RAD – R/F generators with High Speed Rotor Control.

CAUSE:

The processor on the rotor control has a debug port. One of the signals is not connected to a pull up resistor. The floating signal leads to the error combination 00XI + 00M3. It happens only once during turn on, not during normal operation.

REMEDY:

Modification of the PCB High Speed Rotor Control EY 100

delivered with Rotor Control HS 9890 000 0221x

SYMPTOM:

Errors 00M3 in combination with 00XI appear after first power on of the generator.

MANPOWER / TIME TO COMPLETE:

1 engineer 0.5 hour

TOOLS & TEST EQUIPMENT:

– Standard tool set – Soldering iron with fine tip – Service PC, XRG-Scope and Hardkey .

MODIFICATION KIT / PARTS REQUIRED:

5cm wire of approximately 0.1mm

Note:

Wire has to be prepared locally . No service kit available.

PROCEDURE:

Service reliability information

1. Switch Off the generator .

2. Open the Rotor Control unit, (back side of generator cabinet) – solder a link between N5:23 and N5:26 of the EY 100 PCB. see sketches (page 3).

Attention

When handling PCBs, take all the necessary Electro Static Discharge (ESD) precautions.

3. Check that the connnecting wires of resistors R29 / R35 have a distance of at least 1.5 mm to the capacitors C13 and C14. Also between the resistors itself a gap of 1.5 mm is necessary. see sketch (page 3) When the resistors come in contact to the capacitors or have mechanically contact to each other this can lead to a shortcircuit and defect of the rotor control.

4. Close the Rotor Control unit.

Permanently interested in quality improvement of the PMS products, we are dependent on information from the field. Therefore we kindly ask to send the current generator logfile information.

Please download the generator errorlog logfile.

The filename should express the generator serial number, e.g. ”er960234.tdl” for the error log of serial number

960234. Send this file regarding the serial number of the generator to: Carsten Mais, Service Innovation generators, PMS Hamburg, as Attachment to an E–Mail or a BBS message.
