Important
Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance and save them for future reference.
The appliance is equipped with an automatic
voltage selector and is suitable for mains voltages ranging from 100 to 240 volts.
Only use the appliance in combination with
the mains cord supplied.
If the mains cord is damaged, always have it
replaced by one of the original type in order to avoid a hazard.
Make sure the appliance and the cord do not
get wet.
Keep the appliance out of the reach of
children.
Use, charge and store the appliance at a
temperature between 15cC and 35cC.
This appliance is only designed for trimming
the human beard. Do not use the appliance for any other purpose.
Do not use the appliance if the cutting unit is
damaged or broken, as this may cause injury.
Before first use
Charge the appliance fully before using it for
the first time (see chapter 'Charging').
When the appliance has been charged for the
first time, we advise you to use it until the battery is completely empty.

1 Make sure the appliance is switched off.

2 Insert the appliance plug into the
appliance.
3 Put the mains plug in the wall socket.

The charging light goes on to indicate that the
appliance is charging.
It will take approx. 1 hour to fully charge the battery. The charging light blinks to indicate that the battery has been fully charged.
Do not charge the appliance for more than 24 hours.
When it is fully charged, the appliance has a cordless trimming time of up to 40 minutes.
Optimising the lifetime of the rechargeable battery
- Do not recharge the appliance in between the trimming sessions.
- Discharge the battery completely twice a year by letting the motor run until it stops.
- Do not keep the appliance plugged into a wall socket all the time.

CHARGE
Using the appliance
Always comb your beard or moustache with a fine comb before you start trimming.
If you are trimming for the first time, be careful Do not move the trimmer too fast. Make smooth and gentle movements.
Corded trimming
To use the trimmer connected to the mains:
switch the trimmer off, connect it to the mains and wait a few seconds before switching it on.
If the battery is completely empty, wait one minute before switching the appliance on, as the trimmer might not start working right away.
Do not run the appliance from the mains when the battery is fully charged.
Trimming with comb attachment

1 Turn the Precision Zoom Lock` to the
desired hair length setting (see table).
The setting will appear in the window below the Precision Zoom Lock`.

If you are trimming for the first time, start by using the maximum hair length setting (9).
2 Switch the appliance on.

3 Place the trimmer on the skin and move
the trimmer slowly over the skin against the direction of hair growth while pressing it lightly.
Make sure the surface of the comb attachment always stays in contact with the skin.
If a lot of hair has accumulated in the comb
attachment:
4 Remove the comb attachment by pulling it
off the appliance.

Never pull at the flexible top of the comb attachment. Always pull at the bottom part.

5 Blow or shake the hair out of the comb
attachment.
The selected hair length setting will not change when you do this.
Trimming at the unique 'stubble look' setting

Using the trimmer with the comb attachment
set to setting 1 allows you to create a 'stubble look'.
Trimming without comb attachment
Use the trimmer without comb attachment to trim full beards and single hairs.

1 Remove the comb attachment by pulling it
off the appliance.
Never pull at the flexible top of the comb attachment. Always pull at the bottom part.
2 Switch the appliance on.

3 Make well-controlled movements. Touch
the hair lightly with the trimmer.

Trimming with the precision trimmer
You can use the precision trimmer to shape your moustache and sideburns, to define contours and to cut single hairs.
1 Remove the comb attachment.

2 Push the precision trimmer upwards. If the
appliance is switched on, the precision trimmer will start to work right away.
Note: the main cutting unit continues to work when you use the pop-up precision trimmer.

3 Hold the appliance in vertical position and
make strokes.
The pop-up precision trimmer is also suitable for outlining the edges of the beard on the throat and on the cheeks.

4 When you have finished using the pop-up
precision trimmer, push it back into the appliance.
You can now put the comb attachment back onto the appliance.
Cleaning
Do not use abrasives, scourers or liquids such as alcohol, petrol or acetone to clean the appliance.
1 Make sure the appliance is switched off
and disconnected from the mains before you start cleaning it.

2 Remove the comb attachment.

3 Flip the cutting unit open.

4 Clean the cutting unit and the hair
chamber with the brush supplied.

5 Close the cutting unit by pushing it back
onto the appliance ('click').
The appliance does not need any lubrication.
Replacement
A worn or damaged cutting unit must always be replaced with an original Philips cutting unit, available from authorised Philips service centres.
1 Flip the cutting unit open.

2 Remove the old cutting unit by pulling it
upwards.

3 Place the two lugs of the new cutting unit
into the guiding slots.
4 Push the cutting unit onto the appliance
('click').

Environment

Do not throw the appliance away with the
normal household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. By doing this you will help to preserve the environment.
The built-in rechargeable battery contains
substances that may pollute the environment. Always remove the battery before discarding the appliance and handing it in at an official collection point. Dispose of the battery at an official collection point for batteries. If you have trouble removing the battery, you can also take the appliance to a Philips service centre, which will remove the battery for you and will dispose of it in an environmentally safe way.
Disposal of the battery
1 Disconnect the appliance from the mains
and let the appliance run until the motor stops.

2 Undo the screw in the trimmer housing.

3 Separate the 2 housing parts by means of a
screwdriver.

4 Insert a screwdriver into the small slots in
the printed circuit board marked with an arrow. Push the screwdriver down until parts of the printed circuit board break off.

5 Press the hook and remove the printed
circuit board.

6 Separate the rechargeable battery from
the appliance by means of a screwdriver.
Do not connect the appliance to the mains again after it has been opened!

1 Assurez-vous que l'appareil est éteint.

2 Insérez la fiche dans l'appareil.
3 Branchez le cordon d'alimentation sur la
prise secteur.

Le voyant de charge s'allume pour indiquer
que l'appareil est en charge.
Une charge complète dure environ 1 heure. Le voyant de charge clignote pour indiquer que la batterie est complètement chargée.
Ne chargez jamais l'appareil pendant plus de 24 heures.
Un appareil complètement chargé offre une autonomie d'utilisation de 40 minutes environ.
Optimisation de la durée de vie de la batterie rechargeable
- Évitez de recharger l'appareil entre chaque séance.
- Déchargez complètement la batterie deux fois par an en laissant l'appareil fonctionner jusqu'à l'arrêt du moteur.
- Évitez de laisser l'appareil branché sur le secteur en permanence.

CHARGE
Utilisation de l'appareil
Peignez toujours votre barbe ou moustache avec un peigne fin avant de la tailler.
Soyez prudent lorsque vous utilisez la tondeuse pour la première fois. N'effectuez pas de mouvements rapides, mais des mouvements uniformes et tout en douceur.
Utilisation de la tondeuse sur secteur
Pour utiliser la tondeuse sur secteur :
arrêtez-la, branchez-la sur le secteur et patientez quelques secondes avant de la mettre en marche.
Si la batterie est complètement déchargée, attendez une minute avant de mettre l'appareil sous tension car il pourrait ne pas fonctionner immédiatement.
N'utilisez pas l'appareil sur secteur si la batterie est complètement chargée.
Taille avec le sabot

1 Tournez le Precision Zoom Lock` sur la
position souhaitée (voir tableau).
Le réglage apparaît dans la fenêtre située en dessous du Precision Zoom Lock`.

Si vous utilisez l'appareil pour la première fois, commencez par sélectionner le réglage de longueur maximum (9).
2 Mettez l'appareil en marche.

3 Placez la tondeuse sur la peau et déplacez-
la lentement dans le sens inverse de la pousse des poils tout en exerçant une légère pression.
Veillez à ce que la surface du sabot reste toujours en contact avec la peau.
Si des poils se sont accumulés dans le sabot :
4 Retirez le sabot de l'appareil.
