THE "PORSCHE TIPTRONIC SYSTEM"
AUTOMATIC GEARBOX
The 4-speed automatic gearbox offers the choice between the comfort of
fully automatic gear changing, enhanced by a sport programme and a
snow programme, or manual gear changing.
Function selection grid
☞ Move the lever in the grid to select a position.
The indicator light for the function selected comes on on the instrument
panel display.
Park: to park the vehicle and to start the
engine, handbrake applied or released.
Reverse: to reverse (select this function with the
vehicle stationary and the engine at idle).
Neutral: to start the engine and to park, hand-
brake applied.
Note: if position N is engaged inadvertently while
driving, allow the engine to slow down before
engaging function D to accelerate.
Drive: to drive, in automatic mode.
Manual: to select the gears.
S: sport programme.
: snow programme.
Manual changing of the four gears:
☞ Push the lever towards the + sign to change up to the next gear and
pull the lever towards the – sign to change down to the next gear.
Note: the S (sport) and (snow) programmes are not operational during
manual operation.
Starting the engine
☞ with the handbrake applied,
select function P or N on the
grid,
☞ turn the ignition key to the
Starting position.
Starting the vehicle
With the engine running, to start
the vehicle from position P:
☞ the brake pedal must be
pressed in order to exit
position P,
☞ select function R, Dor M, then
progressively decrease the
pressure on the brake pedal;
the vehicle moves off immedi-
ately.
You can also start from function N:
☞ release the handbrake, with
your foot on the brake,
☞ select function R, D or M,
then progressively decrease
the pressure on the brake
pedal; the vehicle moves off
immediately.
When the engine is running at idle, with the brakes
released, if function R, Dor
M is selected, the vehicle
moves, even if the accelerator
pedal is not pressed.
For this reason, do not
leave children in the
vehicle, with the engine
running, without supervision.
