Calipsa® Dahua Integration User Guide
Introduction
This guide covers the steps required to integrate your Dahua cameras with the Calipsa platform. Other
common integration steps, such as configuring your system to send alarms to your gmail account are
also covered.
Dahua
Adding a Dahua NVR to Calipsa
There are two ways to add a Dahua site to Calipsa. The first wayto add a Dahua site to Calipsa is
Automatic. We recommend you do the automatic setup because all the configuration is done through the
Calipsa portal. The second way is Manualwhere you would remotely log into the NVR and change the
email settings. This guide includes instructions for both processes.
Automatic Setup
Creating a Site

2. Under Timezone, select the site's timezone from the drop-down list.
3. Under is this a DVR/NVR site, select Yes.
4. Under Camera Brand, select Dahua.
5. Under Setup mode, select Automatic.
6. Under Notification email enter the email address where you would like Calipsa to forward alarm
events to e.g., Immix S-number, Gmail address, etc.

If any information was entered incorrectly, the setup will be unsuccessful. The notification lists possible
reasons.
1. ClickGo backto return to the configuration page.
2. Enterthe correct information.
3. Click Add site.
Note:Automatic connection requires a direct connection from Calipsa to the NVR via the Server Port.
Firewalls, VPNs, and other security features may block this connection.

Troubleshooting Questions
Q: Test email said successful however I cannot see a test email received in Calipsa
C6735M | 02/238
Calipsa® Dahua Integration User Guide
A: This is a known issue with some Dahua NVRs. If the test said successful then the connection should
be fine. Ensure the cameras are set to alarm with email notifications enabledon the alarm method.
Q: Why do some alarms coming into Calipsa only have one or no images?
A: Unlike our other Integrations, Dahua NVRs only ever send a maximum of one image within the alarm
email. However, our integration is built so that once we receive an alarm email, we will connect back to
the NVR to retrieve the required images from the livestream during the time the event was
triggered. However, in order to do this, we need a direct HTTP connection to the NVR.
Q: I have a firewall preventing inbound traffic, can I still connect the NVR to Calipsa?
A: Yes you can still connect to Calipsa as long as you alter the firewall permissions to allow Calipsa. How
to do this depends on your firewall. It should just require whitelisting the following IP addresses to allow
the connection via the HTTP/TCP ports:
l
52.19.32.51
l
52.212.236.183
Q: How do I connect a Dahua site that is sitting behind a VPN?
A: Unfortunately, this is not currently possible. We require a direct connection from Calipsa to the NVR in
order to pull alarm images.
Q: How do I test the HTTP connection between Calipsa and the NVR?
A: Follow the instructions below:
1. Login to your Calipsa account and navigate tothe site in question.
2. Under Configuration, click NVR Settings.
3. Under HTTP & TCP Port Test, enter a port number.
4. Click Test HTTP.
This test emulates the process of connecting to the NVR to retrieve alarm images. If the test says
success then the connection was made with no issues. However, if it is unsuccessful, that indicatesthere
is an issue with the network connection to the NVR itself. In this case, you should reconfirm the NVR
credentials entered (Host IP/ports/username/password). If this is all correct then you should check the
site for anything preventing a direct line of connection from Calipsa to the NVR e.g., Firewalls, VPNs, etc.

Adding your Monitoring Station SMTP Details
This guide is for manually configuring Calipsa to forward true alarms to your monitoring station software
via email.
NOTE: Please ensure our Calipsa IP addresses are whitelisted on your monitoring station software
before completing this setup. Otherwise the true alarms sent to you may get blocked. See the CalipsaEmail Alarm Notifications Manual for instructions on Whitelisting Calipsa's IP addresses.
Accessing Calipsa Account Settings

Inputting Your Credentials
Under Global configuration, input the credentials of your monitoring station software. The credentials
include the server information you would have had the cameras/NVRs alarming to before incorporating
Calipsa into your process.
1. Under Host/IP Address, enter the IP address/DNS of your server
2. Under HTTP port, enter the HTTP port number. If unsure, try entering 25.
3. Under Username and Password, enter the login credentials for your server. If you are using
Immix, leave this section blank.
4. Under Test Email, use the example email address belonging to that sever. For example,
S123@immixalarms.com for an Immix server.
5. Test the connection.
6. If connected, click Save.
NOTE: These settings will automatically apply to all new sites added. To direct a specific site to a
different location, you will need to change the monitoring station SMTP details on the site level.
Troubleshooting Questions
Q: The Test email said successful however I cannot see a test email received in Calipsa.
A: If the test fails please follow the steps below in order.
1. Check that you whitelisted our relevant IP addresses within your monitoring station sever.
2. Check that you entered the correct credentials. Even the test email needs to be an email address
that exists within your server.
3. Try enabling "Use proper Helo". this is a different method of connection to fit with the additional
security requirements of some systems.
4. Reach out to the Calipsa support team by submitting a request or emailing: support@calipsa.io
Q: Can I send alarms to an email address instead?
A: Yes you can send to an email server as long as the specified email server allows it within their security
settings. Please see the Calipsa Email Alarm Notifications Manual for an example.
