instruction manual and car seat
labels.

2• This car seat meets or exceeds

all applicable requirements of
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety
Standard 213 for use in motor
vehicles and aircraft.

3• Use this car seat REAR FACING

only.

4• Never use in vehicle seat with

air-bag.

5• Complete the registration form

immediately.

6• Do not allow anyone to use this

car seat without first
understanding all instructions.

7• Always keep this manual with

the car seat in its holder located
in a pocket on the back side of
the base. Always keep the
manual for future reference.

8• NEVER try to use this unit in a

vehicle WITHOUT its base.

UNIVERSAL LOWER ANCHORS OR
WITH STANDARD LAP OR
LAP/SHOULDER BELT. IF LOWER

COMMENT INSTALLER LA BASE

1• Pour décrocher le siège du bébé de la

base-auto (des poussettes ou des
châssis Peg Perego), tirer vers l'haut la
poignée située derrière le dossier et
soulever le siège du bébé.

2• Placez la base sur le siège du véhicule;

la position préférable est au milieu du
siège arrière.

3• La base doit être parallèle au sol. Pour

ajuster la base dans l’angle juste,
tournez la griffe à vis en haut ou en
bas en suivant la flèche. Veuillez à ce
que votre automobile soit stationnée
sur un sol plat avant de commencer
cette opération.

4• Ajustez la base jusqu’à ce que la balle

dans l’indicateur latéral soit dans la
zone verte.

NOTE:

• Si votre véhicule est équipé avec des
ancrages de fixation universelle,
référez-vous à la section "UTILISATION
DU SYSTÈME LATCH" (page 18).

• Si votre véhicule est équipé avec des
ceintures de sécurité conventionnelles,
référez-vous à la section "UTILISATION
DE CEINTURES DE SÉCURITÉ
STANDARD" (page 20).

1• To remove the car seat from the base

(or from Peg Perego strollers or
carriages), pull up the handle on the
rear of the backrest and lift the car seat
at the same time.

2• Place the base on the vehicle seat; the

preferred position is in the middle of
the back seat.

3• The base must be parallel to the

ground. To adjust the base at the
proper angle, rotate the screw knob up
or down following the arrow. Check
that your car is parked on level ground
before beginning this operation.

4• Adjust the base until the ball in the side

indicator is in the green area.

NOTE:

• If your vehicle is equipped with
universal lower anchors, please refer to
section “USE OF LATCH SYSTEM” (page

18).

• If your vehicle is equipped with
conventional seat belt only, please refer
to section “USE OF STANDARD SEAT

USE OF LATCH SYSTEM

Primo Viaggio is designed for vehicles
equipped with universal lower anchors.
Anchors can be positioned in various
locations depending on vehicle model.
Please read your vehicle owner’s manual
about use and position of anchors for child
passenger seats.

5• The base is fitted with LATCH latches

for the universal lower anchors. The
latches are stored at each side of the
base. To release the latches, loosen the
strap pressing the button on the
adjuster and pulling as shown in the
picture. Press the red tab on top of the
latches and pull the latches out of their
housings.

6• Locate the lower anchors on your car

and place the latches as shown in the
picture (see detail for correct position).

7• Press until an audible click is heard.

Check that the harness is threaded flat
and free of any obstruction.

8• Tighten the base on the seat pulling

the free portion of the latch harness.
Press down on the base using your
body weight and tighten the harness
further. If the ball rolls on the red area,
please adjust the screw further until the
ball returns in the green area. The
harness may have to be loosened
slightly to raise the base. Pull on the
base to see if it is securely mounted.
There should be very little movement
side to side or front to rear. The base is
ready for car seat fitting.

Primo Viaggio est conçu pour les véhicules

plat et libre de toute obstruction.

9• Place the base on the vehicle seat; the

10•If a lap/shoulder belt is used, the

shoulder strap must not be placed in

VEHICLE SEAT BELTS

Primo Viaggio is designed for vehicles
equipped with a lap belt or shoulder/lap
belt. However, there may be different
designs. Only the most popular are
reviewed here. Please read your vehicle
owner’s manual on use of child passenger
seats.

12•If your vehicle is equipped with a seat

belt that slides freely through the latch
plate, you must use the locking clip
(located on the car seat base) because
the base will not be firmly secured to
the seat and will slide in the event of a
crash. To put the plate on the belt, first
install the base, then hold the lap and
shoulder strap together close to the
latch and unbuckle. At the end of this
operation, it may be necessary to
further adjust the base inclination with
the screw knob. Always check that the
ball in the side indicator is in the green
area.

13•Keeping the two straps in hand, put

the locking clip as shown in the picture
keeping the locking clip position away
from the latch by 1/2 inch approx
(1cm).

14•Manually adjustable lap belt: if after

locking, the latch plate becomes loose,
due to a wrong angle, flip the plate
over and buckle again. Test installation
before use.

15•Lap belt with retractor: if you have

an Automatic Locking Retractor, let the
belt pass through the base slot, buckle
and tighten until the retractor locks.

If you have an Emergency Locking
Retractor DO NOT USE to fit your car seat.
(to check the retractor: extend the belt all
the way out, allow it to retract by about 6
inches and then pull out again; if it locks
you have an Automatic Retractor, if you
can pull freely, then you have an
Emergency Retractor).

CEINTURES DE SECURITE DU VEHICULE

cependant différentes conceptions.
Uniquement les plus populaires sont
décrites ici. Lisez votre guide du
propriétaire sur l’utilisation du siège-auto
pour enfant.

12•Si votre véhicule est équipé d'une

ceinture de sécurité qui glisse librement
à travers l'embout du boîtier de
verrouillage, vous devez utiliser le clip
de blocage (situé à la base du siège
auto) ou bien la base ne sera pas
attachée fermement au siège et glissera
en cas d'accident. Pour mettre l'embout
dans la ceinture, installer d'abord la
base, puis tenir ensemble la partie
ventrale et la partie diagonale à côté
du boîtier de verrouillage et détacher. À
la fin de cette opération, il pourrait être
nécessaire d’ajuster l’inclinaison de la
base avec la griffe à vis. Vérifiez
toujours si la bille sur l’indicateur latéral
est dans la zone verte.

13•En gardant les deux courroies dans la

main, mettre le clip de blocage comme
sur le dessin, en tenant le clip à 1 cm
du boîtier de verrouillage.

14•Ceinture ventrale réglable de façon

manuelle: si après blocage, l'embout
du boîtier de verrouillage se détache, à
cause d'un mauvais angle, remettre
l'embout à sa place et boucler de
nouveau. Tester l'installation avant
utilisation.

15•Ceinture ventrale avec rétracteur: si

vous avez un rétracteur avec blocage
automatique, laisser passer la ceinture à
travers la fente de la base, boucler et
tendre jusqu'au blocage du rétracteur.

Si vous avez un rétracteur à blocage
d'urgence, NE PAS L' UTILISER pour
fixer votre siège auto. (Pour vérifier le
rétracteur: tendre complètement la
ceinture, en lui permettant de se
rétracter d'environ 12 cm et puis tirer
de nouveau; si cela se bloque, vous
avez un rétracteur automatique, si vous
pouvez tirer librement, alors vous avez
un rétracteur d'urgence).

HOW TO FIT THE CAR SEAT

20•Take the car seat by the handle and

position it REAR FACING over the base.
Then press it into the base until it clicks
audibly. Check to see that the seat is
properly locked trying to move or tilt it.
Do not try to install the car seat
without the base.
When the car seat is installed, the ball
may be moved out of the green area.
Unlatch the car seat and further adjust
the base. Remember that in case of use
of the car seat with a newborn a
slightly more reclined position is
recommended.

21•To adjust the handle push the buttons

on both sides of the handle.

22•In the car the handle must be

placed along the top edge of the
seat as in the picture. Any other
position may cause injuries to the
child in case of accident.

23•To remove the car seat, rotate the

handle to the vertical position. Pull the
lever in the backrest and lift the seat at
the same time.

COMMENT FIXER LE SIEGE AUTO

20•Prendre le siège auto par la poignée et

le positionner DOS A LA ROUTE sur la
base. Puis, appuyer sur la base jusqu'à
l'obtention d'un clic. Vérifier que le
siège est correctement fixé en essayant
de le bouger ou de l'incliner. Ne pas

Lorsque le siège-auto est installé, on
peut faire sortir la bille de la zone verte.
Débloquez le siège-auto et ajustez la
base davantage. Rappelez-vous que,
dans le cas d’utilisation du siège-auto
avec un nouveau-né, une position
légèrement plus inclinée est
recommandée.

21•Pour ajuster la poignée, pousser les

boutons des deux côtés de la poignée.

22•Dans la voiture, la poignée doit être

placée le long de la partie supérieur
du siège, comme sur le dessin. Toute
autre position peut causer des
blessures à l'enfant en cas
d'accident.

23•Pour enlever le siège auto, mettre la

poignée à la verticale. Tirer le levier sur
le dossier et tirer le siège en même
temps.

HARNESS OPERATIONS

24•To fit the safety belt take the two

shoulder straps and place them over
the child's shoulders. Take care that the
straps are not twisted along the route
from behind the backrest. Place the
harness latch plates into the buckles
and press until they “click” into
position. Check that the harness is
secured.

25•Fit the chest clip by simply pushing the

two halves together as shown in the
picture. Adjust to arm pit level.

26•To release the harness simply depress

the red button and pull the latches in
an upward manner.

27•To undo the chest clip, press on the

side and pull apart as shown in the
picture.

HARNESS OPERATIONS

28•Adjust the harness retainer clip to the

arm pit level and snug the harness
simply by pulling the adjuster strap. Be
sure that there is one finger width
between the harness and the collar
bone. Tuck loose end of adjuster strap
in next to baby.

29•To loosen harness, depress the harness

adjuster placed under the fabric pocket
and pull harness from the top of the
shoulders.

30•The harness can be positioned at three

different shoulder heights. To change
position, remove the harness from the
metal plate under the seat.

31•Pull the shoulder straps through the

openings and reposition at the desired
height.
In order to correctly fasten the child in
the seat, the shoulder harness should
always be positioned slightly lower
than the shoulder level (as shown in
the picture).

OPTIONS

32•Pour mettre les couvertures de la

courroie diagonale, enlever le harnais
de la plaque de métal sous le siège

(comme sur l'image 30) et tirer les
courroies transversales à travers le
coussin de protection pour la tête en
choisissant la hauteur désirée. Faire
passer la courroie à travers l'ouverture
du dossier du siège et accrocher de
nouveau à la plaque en métal.

33•Placer les couvertures de la courroie

diagonale autour de la ceinture, en les
fixant à l'aide de la fermeture velcro.
Pour qu'elles soient utilisées
correctement, vérifier que le velcro est
tourné vers l'extérieur.

34•Pour fixer la protection de la fourche,

tirez la boucle à travers l’ouverture
comme indiqué dans la figure.

35•Résultat final: vérifier que le harnais

n'est pas entortillé.

OPTIONS

32•To fit the shoulder strap covers, remove

the harness from the metal plate under
the seat (as in picture 30) and pull the
shoulder straps through the head
protection cushion choosing the proper
height. Let the strap pass through the
seat backrest opening and latch again
to the metal plate.

33•Put the shoulder strap covers around

the belt and close using the velcro. For
correct use check that the velcro is
looking outward.

34•To fit the crotch protection pull the

buckle through the opening as shown
in the picture.

35•Final result: check that the harness is

not flipped over along its routing.

OPERATIONS

36•This unit is designed to be used as an

infant seat other than in the car. The
special shell shape enables the chair to
rock, so that you can even rock your
baby. To prevent rocking, position the
handlebar behind the backrest
following instructions in the picture.

37•To fit the hood, push the handle

backwards, place the hood adjusting
couplings onto the handle, then tie up
the fastening strings as shown in the
figure. To remove the hood, reverse
operations.

38•The hood can be adjusted to two

positions: To raise or lower it, push on
the inner sides of the adjusting
couplings and bring the hood up or
down till the next click.

OPERATIONS

39•This car seat is certified for use on

aircraft seats. Fasten the base to the
seat using the lap belt as shown in the
picture.

40•A secondary belt path as shown in the

figure, can also be used.
Once the seat belt is buckled tighten
the base on the seat pulling the seat
belt. Adjust the knob until the ball in
the side indicator is in green area. Press
down on the base using your body
weight and tighten the harness further.

adjust the screw further until the ball

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

Your product requires only minimal
maintenance. Cleaning and maintenance
operations must be performed only by
adults.

•Be sure to keep all moving parts clean,
lubricating them with light oil if necessary.

•Regularly clean the plastic parts with a
damp cloth. Do not use solvents or similar
products.

•Brush the fabric parts to remove dust.

•Protect the product against smog, water,
rain and snow. Continued and extended
exposure to sunlight can change the
colours of many materials.

•Store the product in a dry area.

41•To wash the baby chair padding,

remove the hood;

42•Unfasten and remove the safety belt

from the upholstery;

43•Undo the flaps fixing the upholstery

from below the chair; do not remove
or wash the internal padding.

44•Draw the upholstery upwards and

wash it following the washing
instructions provided.
