Precautions
Do not attempt to disassemble the camera.
To prevent electric shock, do not remove screws or covers. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Ask qualified service personnel for servicing.

Use this product for indoor use only.
Do not expose this product to direct sunlight for hours and do not install the product near a heater or an air conditioner. Otherwise, it may cause deformation, discoloration and malfunction. Keep this product away from water.
To keep on using with stable performance
• Parts of this product may deteriorate and it may shorten the lifetime of this product when using in locations subject to high temperatures and high humidity. Do not expose the product to direct heat such as from a heater.
• Use this product at temperature within –10 °C - +50 °C {14 °F - 122°F} and humidity below 90 %. (When using this product without turning the power off)
Handle the camera with care.
Do not abuse the camera. Avoid striking, shaking, etc. The camera could be damaged by improper handling or storage.
Cleaning the camera body
Turn the power off when cleaning of the camera. Use a dry cloth to clean the camera. Do not use strong abrasive detergent when cleaning the camera body. When the dirt is hard to remove, use a mild detergent and wipe gently. Then, wipe off the remaining detergent with a dry cloth. Otherwise, it may cause discoloration. When using a chemical cloth for cleaning, read the caution provided with the chemical cloth product.
Discoloration on the CCD color filter
When continuously shooting a bright light source such as a spotlight, the color filter of the CCD may have deteriorated and it may cause discoloration. Even when changing the fixed shooting direction after continuously shooting a spotlight for a certain period, the discoloration may remain.
6
Do not aim the camera at strong light sources.
A light source such as a spot light causes a blooming (light bleeding) or a smear (vertical lines).
• Locations subject to vibrations (This product is not designed for on-vehicle use.)
• Locations subject to condensation as the result of severe changes in temperature

Installing place
Contact your dealer for assistance if you are unsure of an appropriate place in your particular environment. Make sure that the installation area is strong enough to hold the camera, such as a concrete ceiling. When the installation area is not strong enough, reinforce and strengthen it.
Avoid installing in the following locations.
• Locations where it may get wet from rain or water splash
• Locations where a chemical agent is used such as a swimming pool (not only outdoor)
• Locations subject to steam and oil smoke such as a kitchen
• Locations near flammable gas or vapor
• Locations where radiation or x-ray emissions are produced
• Locations subject to strong magnetic field or radio waves
• Locations where corrosive gas is produced
• Locations where it may be damaged by briny air such as seashores
• Locations where the temperature is not within –10 °C - +50 °C {14°F - 122°F}.
Be sure to remove this apparatus if it is not in use.
Radio interference
When the camera is used near TV/radio antenna, strong electric field or magnetic field (near a motor or a transformer), images may be distorted and noise sound may be produced.
Mounting screws
It is necessary to procure screws or bolts to mount the camera. Prepare them according to the material and strength of the area where the camera is to be installed. The screws and bolts must be tightened with an appropriate tightening torque according to the material and strength of the installation area.

q Flange-back adjustment ring
This ring adjusts the back-focal distance or picture focus.
Important:
• When an object is out of focus because it is too close to the camera, focus on a darker object with the aperture open.
w ALC lens connector
Supplies power and control signals to an auto iris lens (optional).
e Lens (optional)
Important:
• The lens mount should be a CSmount (1"-32UN).
• The protrusion at the rear of the lens should be as shown in the diagram to prevent the camera's damage.
CS-mount: Less than 8 mm {5/16"}
r Flange-back lock screw
Loosen this screw with a screwdriver to adjust the flange-back adjustment ring. When completing the adjustment, tighten this screw. Recommended tightening torque:
0.05 N·m {0.5 kgf·cm}
Important:
• When the screw is tightened stronger than the recommended tightening torque, it may strip the thread or cause focus misalignment.
tom, however, a top-mounting type is also available. To mount from the top, remove the mount adapter from the bottom of the camera by removing two fixing screws. Attach the mount adapter to the top as shown in the diagram, then mount the camera on the mounting bracket. Make sure that two original screws are used when mounting the mount adapter; longer type screws may damage inner components, too shorter type screws may cause the camera drop.
y Power cord (WV-CP280 only)
Connect this power cord to an electrical outlet of 120 V AC 60 Hz.
u 24 V AC/12 V DC input terminal [AC
24V IN/DC 12V IN] (WV-CP284 only)
This terminal is for connecting the 24 V AC 60 Hz/12 V DC power supply cord.
i GND terminal (WV-CP284 only)
o Video output connector [VIDEO OUT]
Composite video signals are transmitted. If this unit is connected to the multiplex unit, the multiplexed VD2 that is prioritized over INT/LL is automatically selected.

• Simple day/night mode selector [D/N]
ON: The camera selects black-and-white
mode if the picture is dark, or color mode if the picture is bright enough.
OFF: Color picture is displayed normally. Default setting: OFF
Note:
• The simple day/night function is established by utilizing the sense up function for B/W images. The IR filter is secured.
• Adaptive Black Stretch Selector [B.S.]
ON: The dark area of the object is auto-
matically corrected to lighten it.
OFF: Does not compensate. Default setting: ON
Important:
• In the case of "ON" setting, noise may be increased in the dark area of the object. In addition, darkness and brightness may be emphasized in the vicinity of the boundary between the dark and bright areas.
• Backlight compensation selector [BLC]
ON: Compensates the background auto-
matically if it is brighter than the object.
OFF: This mode is used when the front of
the object is extremely bright.
Default setting: OFF
Note:
• Under conditions such as extremely strong backlight, the desired compensation effect may not be achieved even with this mode set to ON to detect the backlight level.
• Synchronization mode selector [INT/LL]
Selects the camera synchronization mode as either internal sync mode (INT) or line-lock mode (LL).
INT: Sets to internal 2:1 interlace LL: Sets to line-lock mode Default setting: INT
• Light control mode selector [ALC/ELC]
ALC: Adjusts the lens iris automatically. ELC:
Select this mode when a fixed iris lens or manual iris lens is used with this camera.
Default setting: ALC
