3. Tighten the shoe lock to hold the microphone securely.
Be sure to turn the camcorder (movie camera) off
before attaching and connecting the microphone.
When the microphone is attached to the camcorder
(movie camera), never use the microphone as a handle.
The power for the microphone is supplied from the
camcorder’s (movie camera’s) accessory shoe (together with the zoom information).
Under extremely windy conditions when the wind shield is
not enough to reduce the wind noise, set [H.SHOE MIC] to [LOWCUT] in the camcorder’s (movie camera’s) menu to eliminate wind noise more effectively. (Normally, set [H.SHOE MIC] to [NORMAL].)
will damage the shoe.
[B] Switching the Microphone [ZOOM/TELE/
WIDE] Mode Selector
ZOOM: In this setting, the direction angle and sensitivity of
the sound pick-up changes according to the operation of the camcorder’s (movie camera’s) power zoom function, ranging from stereo sound recording over a wide area to super-directional (monaural) recording of sound coming from a narrow angle from the front only. When you push the zoom lever on the camcorder
(movie camera) toward “W”, the zoom magnification of the picture is lowered; accordingly, the stereo effect of the sound being recorded is gradually enhanced and the sound is picked up over a wider area.
When you push the zoom lever toward “T”, the
zoom magnification of the picture is increased; accordingly, the angle from which the sound is being recorded is gradually decreased until the recorded sound is monaural.
TELE: Only the sound coming from a narrow angle from
the front is picked up and recorded in mono.
WIDE: The sound from a wide angle is picked up and
recorded in stereo.
Changing the setting of the microphone [ZOOM/TELE/
WIDE] mode selector during recording is possible, however, some switching noise may be recorded. It is recommended to switch in the recording pause mode.
