1 Safety Precautions
1.1. General Guidelines
1. When servicing, observe the original lead dress. If a short circuit is found, replace al l parts which have been overheated or damaged by the short circuit.
2. After servicing, see to it that all the protective devices such as insulation barriers, insulation papers shields are properly installed.
3. After servicing, make the following leakage current checks to prevent the customer from being exposed to shock hazards.
4. When servicing, observe the original lead dress. If a short circuit is found, replace all parts which have been overheated or damaged by the short circuit.
5. After servicing, see to it that all the protective devices such as insulation barriers, insulation papers shields are properly installed.
6. After servicing, make the following leakage current checks to prevent the customer from being exposed to shock hazards.
1.2. Touch-Current Check
1. Plug the AC cord directly into the AC outlet. Do not use an isolation transformer for this check.
2. Connect a measuring network for touch currents between each exposed metallic part on the set and a good earth ground such as a water pipe, as shown in Figure 1.
3. Use Leakage Current Tester (Simpson 228 or equivalent) to measure the potential across the measuring network.
4. Check each exposed metallic part, and measure the voltage at each point.
5. Reserve the AC plug in the AC outlet and repeat each of the above measure.

2Warning
2.1. Prevention of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) to Electrostatically Sensitive (ES) Devices
Some semiconductor (solid state) devices can be damaged easily by static electricity. Such components commonly are called Elec­trostatically Sensitive (ES) Devices. Examples of typical ES devices are integrated circuits and some field-effect transistors and semiconductor [chip] components. The following techniques should be used to help reduce th e incidence of component damage caused by electrostatic discharge (ESD).
1. Immediately before handling any semiconductor component or semiconductor-equipped assembly, drain off any ESD on your body by touching a known earth ground. Alternatively, obtain and wear a commercially available discharging ESD wrist strap, which should be removed for potential shock reasons prior to applying power to the unit under test.
2. After removing an electrical assembly equipped with ES devices, place the assembly on a conductive surface such as alumi­num foil, to prevent electrostatic charge buildup or exposure of the assembly.
3. Use only a grounded-tip soldering iron to solder or unsolder ES devices.
4. Use only an anti-sta tic solder remo val device. Some solder removal devices not classified as [anti-stati c (ESD protec ted)] can generate electrical charge sufficient to damage ES devices.
5. Do not use freon-propelled chemicals. These can generate electrical charges sufficient to damage ES devices.
6. Do not remove a replacement ES device from its protective package until immediately before you are ready to install it. (Most replacement ES devices are packaged with leads electrically shorted together by conductive foam, aluminum foil or compara­ble conductive material).
7. Immediately before removing the protective material from the leads of a replacement ES device, touch the protective material to the chassis or circuit assembly into which the device will be installed.
Caution
Be sure no power is applied to the chassis or circuit, and observe all other safety precautions.
8. Minimize bodily motions when handling unpackaged replacement ES devices. (Otherwise ham less motion such as the brush­ing together of your clothes fabric or the lifting of your foot from a carpeted floor can generate static electricity (ESD) sufficient to damage an ES device).

2.2. About lead free solder (PbF)
Note: Lead is listed as (Pb) in the periodic table of elements. In the information below, Pb will refer to Lead solder, and PbF will refer to Lead Free Solder. The Lead Free Solder used in our manufacturing process and discussed below is (Sn+Ag+Cu). That is Tin (Sn), Silver (Ag) and Copper (Cu) although other types are available.
This model uses Pb Free solder in it’s manufacture due to environmental conservation issue s. For service and repair work, we’d suggest the use of Pb free solder as well, although Pb solder may be used.
PCBs manufactured using lead free solder will have the PbF within a leaf Symbol PbF stamped on the back of PCB.
Caution
• Pb free solder has a higher melting point than standard solder. Typically the melting point is 50 ~ 70 °F (30~40 °C) higher. Please use a high temperature soldering iron and set it to 700 ± 20 °F (370 ± 10 °C).
• Pb free solder will tend to splash when heated too high (about 1100 °F or 600 °C). If you must use Pb solder, please completely remove all of the Pb free solder on the pins or solder area befo re applying Pb sol ­der. If this is not practical, be sure to heat the Pb free solder until it melts, before applying Pb solder.
• After applying PbF solder to double layered boards, please check the component side for excess solder which may flow onto the opposite side. (see figure below)
Suggested Pb free solder
There are several kinds of Pb free solder available for p urchase. This product uses Sn+Ag+Cu (tin, silver, copper) solder. How­ever, Sn+Cu (tin, copper), Sn+Zn+Bi (tin, zinc, bismuth) solder can also be used.

5 Service Mode
5.1. How to enter into Service Mode
While pressing [VOLUME ( - )] button of the main unit, press [0] button of the remote control three times within 2 seconds.

5.2. Service tool mode
5.2.1. How to access
1. Select [SRV-TOOL] in Service Mode.
2. Press [OK] button on the remote control.
5.2.2. Display of SOS History
SOS History (Number of LED blinking) indication. From left side; Last SOS, before Last, three occurrence before, 2nd occurrence after shipment, 1st occurrence after shipment. This indication except 2nd and 1st occurrence after shipment will be cleared by [Self-check indication and force d to factory ship­ment setting].
5.2.3. POWER ON TIME/COUNT
To display TIME/COUNT menu, highlight position, then press MUTE for 3sec. Time : Cumulative power on time, indicated hour : minute by decimal Count : Number of ON times by decimal Note : This indication will not be cleared by either of the self-check or any command.
5.2.4. Exit
1. Disconnect the AC cord from wall outlet or switch off the power with the [POWER] button on the main unit.

5.3. Hotel mode
1. Purpose Restrict a function for hotels.
Access command to the Hotel mode setup menu
In order to display the Hotel mode setup menu, please enter the following command (within 2 second). [TV] : Vol. [Down] + [REMOTE] : AV (3 times)
Then, the Hotel mode setup menu is displayed.
2. To exit the Hotel mode setup menu Disconnect AC power cord from wall outlet or switch off the power with the [POWER] button on the main unit.
3. Explain the Hotel mode setup menu

6.2. Power LED Blinking timing chart
1. Subject Information of LED Flashing timing chart.
2. Contents When an abnormality has occurred the unit, the protection circuit operates and reset to the stand by mode. At this time, the defective block can be identified by the number of blinks of the Power LED on the front panel of the unit.

7 Disassembly and Assembly Instructions
7.1. Remove the Back cover

7.2. Remove the P-Board
Caution:
To remove P.C.B. wait 1 minute after power was off for dis­charge from electrolysis capacitors.
1. Unlock the cable clampers to free the cable.
2. Disconnect the connectors (P2, P6, P7, P9, P11, P12 and P25).
3. Remove the screws (×8 ) and remove the P-Board unit.
6. Remove the screws (×12 ).
7. Remove the molding props (×6 ).
8. Remove the P(Multi)-Board.
9. Remove the molding props (×6 ).
10. Remove the P(Sus)-Board.
4. Remove the screws (×34 ) on the back side.
5. Disconnect the connectors (P51-P52, P53-P54 and P55­P56).
Note:
When assembling the P(Multi)-Board and the P(Sus)­Board, the position of each hole of the insulation sheets(A, B, C, D) is set to the position of each hole of the P(Multi)­Board and the P(Sus)-Board and then assemble them.

7.14. Remove the SC-Board
1. Remove the SU-Board and SD-Board. (See section 7.12. and 7.13.)
2. Disconnect the connectors (SC2 and SC20).
3. Remove the screws (×8 ) and remove the SC-Board.
7.13. Remove the SD-Board
1. Disconnect the flexible cables (SD1B, SD2B, SD3B, SD4B and SD5B).
2. Disconnect the flexible cable (SD11-SU11) and discon­nect bridge connectors (SD42-SC42 and SD46-SC46).
3. Remove the screws (×3 , ×3 ) and remove the SD- Board.
7.15. Remove the SS2-Board
1. Unlock the cable clampers to free the cable.
2. Disconnect the connector (SS32) and disconnect the flex­ible cables (SS51 and SS52).
3. Disconnect the bridge connector (SS02-SS21).
4. Remove the screws (×5 ) and remove the SS2-Board.

1. Unlock the cable clampers to free the cable.
2. Disconnect the connector (SS35) and disconnect the flex­ible cables (SS57 and SS58).
3. Disconnect the bridge connector (SS03-SS22).
4. Remove the screws (×5 ) and remove the SS3-Board.
7.18. Remove the Vertical Bar (L, R) and the V-Bar fixing metal (A, B, C, D)
1. Remove the plasma panel section from the servicing stand and lay on a flat surface such as a table (covered), with the plasma panel surface facing downward. Spread a soft cloth or similar on the table for protection, so the panel surface is not scratched.
2. Remove the screws (×2 each) and remove the Vertical Bars (L, R).
3. Remove the screws (×2 each) and remove the V-Bar fixing metal (A, B, C, D).
7.17. Remove the SS-Board
1. Unlock the cable clampers to free the cable.
2. Disconnect the connectors (SS11, SS12, SS33 and SS34).
3. Disconnect the flexible cables (SS53, SS54, SS55 and SS56).
4. Disconnect the bridge connectors (SS21-SS02 and SS22-SS03).
5. Remove the screws (×6 ) and remove the SS-Board.
7.19. Remove the Fan unit (R) and Fan
1. Disconnect the relay coupler.
2. Remove the screws (×4 ) and remove the Fan unit (R).

3. Remove the flexible cables holder fastening screws (×10 ).
4. Disconnect the flexible cables (CB1, CB2, CB3, CB4 and
CB5).
5. Disconnect the flexible cables (C60 and C61).
6. Remove the screws (×5 ) and remove the C6-Board.
7.31. Remove the C4-Board
1. Remove the Cabinet-fixing metal (B). (See section 7.30.)
2. Remove the Vertical Bar (L). (See section 7.18.)
3. Remove the flexible cables holder fastening screws (×10 ).
4. Disconnect the flexible cables (CB11, CB12, CB13, CB14
and CB15).
5. Disconnect the flexible cable (C41).
6. Disconnect the connector (C45).
7. Remove the screws (×5 ) and remove the C4-Board.
7.34. Remove the Speaker (Squawker)
1. Remove the screws (×4 ) and remove the Bottom sup­port metal.
2. Disconnect the relay connectors.
3. Remove the screws (×2 each).

5. Remove the GH-Board.
6. Remove the screws (×2 ) and remove the GS-Board.
7. Remove the screws (×3 ).
8. Disconnect the connector (G51) and remove the G­Board.

1. Remove the Bottom support metal. (See section 7.33.)
2. Unlock the cable clampers to free the cable.
3. Disconnect the connectors (GS02, GS09 and GH11).
4. Disconnect the connector (A51). (See section 7.4.)
5. Remove the screws (×3 , ×2 ) and remove the Front bracket.
7.36. Remove the G-Board, GS­Board and GH-Board
1. Remove the Front bracket. (See section 7.35.)
2. Remove the screws (×5 ).

8. Remove the K-Board and disconnect the connector (K1).
7.38. Remove the GL-Board
1. Remove the Cabinet assy. (See section 7.25.)
2. Remove the Speaker (Squawker /R). (See section 7.34.)
3. Remove the Bottom shield L. (See section 7.36.)
4. Remove the screws (×5 ) and remove the Bottom shield R.
7.39. Replace the plasma panel (fin­ished)
1. Place the new plasma panel (finished) on the flat surface of the table (covered by a soft cloth), with the plasma panel surface facing downward.
2. Attach the C1, C2, C3,C4,C5-Board and the C6-Board, connect the flexible cables (×30) from the Plasma panel to the C1, C2, C3,C4,C5-Board and the C6-Board, and fit the flexible cable holders.
3. Attach the Hooks (left, right) and fit the Vertical Bar (L, R) and the V-Bar fixing metal (A, B, C, D) to the new plasma panel.
4. Place the plasma panel section on the servicing stand.
5. Attach the cabinet assy and each P.C.Board and so on, to the new plasma panel.
* When fitting the cabinet assy, be careful not to allow any debris, dust or handling residue to remain
between the front glass and plasma panel.
5. Remove the screws (×8 ) and remove the Bottom plate.
6. Remove the screws (×2 ) and remove the GL-Board and disconnect the connector (GL02).

1. Input a white signal to plasma video input.
2. Set the picture controls as follows. Picture menu : Dynamic PNR : OFF Aspect : 16:9
Caution
1. First perform Vsus adjustment.
2. Confirmation of Vscn voltage should be performed after confirmation of Vad adjustment. When Vad= -120V, Voltage of Vscn is 25V ±4V.
