1 Safety Precautions
1.1. General Guidelines
1. When servicing, observe the original lead dress. If a short circuit is found, replace all parts which have been overheated or
damaged by the short circuit.
2. After servicing, see to it that all the protective devices such as insulation barriers, insulation papers shields are properly
inst all ed.

2. Measure the resist a n ce val ue, with an ohmmeter ,
betwe en the ju mp ered AC pl ug and each expo sed
met a lli c cabin e t p a rt o n the equ ipment su ch as
screwhe ads, co nne ctors, contro l shaf t s , etc. Wh en the
expo sed met alli c p a rt ha s a return p a th to the cha s si s, the
read ing sho u ld be 1 00 Mohm and ove r .

3 . Use an AC voltmeter , with 10 00 oh ms/volt or mo re
sensitivity , to me asure the poten ti al across the re si sto r .

volt age at each po int.
5 . Reverse the AC pl ug in the AC o utl et an d re pea t each of
th e above mea s u r ement s.
6 . The poten tia l at any p o int sho u ld n o t exceed 0.7 5 vol t s

equivalent) may be used to ma k e the hot checks, leakage

Note: Lead is listed as (Pb) in the periodic table of elements.
In the information below, Pb will refer to Lead solder, and PbF will refer to Lead Free Solder.
The Lead Free Solder used in our manufacturing process and discussed below is (Sn+Ag+Cu).
That is Tin (Sn), Silver (Ag) and Copper (Cu) although other types are available.
Th is model uses Pb Fre e sold er in it’ s man u factu r e due to e n vironme n t a l conservatio n issues. Fo r se rvi c e and re p a ir wo rk, we’ d
sugg est the use of Pb free sol der as well , altho ugh Pb sold er ma y be u s ed.

Purpose:
To find the possible failure point where in LCD Panel or Printed Circuit Board when the abnormal picture is displayed.
How to Enter:
While pressing [VOLUME ( - )] button of the main unit, press [OPTION] button of the remote control three times within 2
seconds.
How to Exit:
Discon nect AC pl ug fro m wa ll outle t.
How to confirm:
If the abn ormal picture is displ a yed, go into LCD Pan e l test mode to display t h e several test p a tterns.
And then , jud ge by th e fo llowi ng method .
