10.1.1 Setting of self diagnosis mode
TOP PREVIOUS NEXT
1.Remove the cassette from the deck.
2.Switch to CD function.
3.Press the STOP key of the main set for more than 2 seconds. While pressing this key, press the FF key on the main set for another 2 seconds to enter into the Self-Diagnosis mode.
*Even if STOP / FUNCTION key of the main set is pressed while the Self Diagnosis mode is on, function shall not be switched. Instead, confirmation of error numbers shall begin.

10.1.2 Setting of cassette mechanism self diagnosis mode
TOP PREVIOUS NEXT
1.Activate the Self Diagnosis mode for the Deck and the following Self Diagnosis shall be couducted.
A.H02 : REC INH SW abnormal
B.H03 : HALF SW abnormal
C.H04 : LOAD SW abnormal
D.F01 : Reel pulse abnormal
¡
H01 : If MODE SW abnormal is detected during normal operation, it shall be memorized. The detection and memory shall be done for Deck.
2.Activate the Self Diagnosis mode with the Deck unloaded.
3.The test mode display ( [ T ] at the 1st digit, meaning TEST ) shall be made and detection shall be executed to check RECINH SW, HALFSW are in OFF state.
4.Slot a cassette tape ( with recording preventive tab present ) into the deck and push the cassette into the deck (LOADING Operation should be observed).
5.After this instant with the cassette loaded in, RECINH SW, HALF SW shall be checked and confirmed at this stage by the software. Press FF key to proceed the self-diagnosis. The FF operation shall stop automatically after 3 sec. If abnormal operationis detected, the tape shall stop automatically after 1 seconds. During the FF operation, the Reel Pulse shall be checked by the software.
6.After the tape stop, the Error codes shall be displayed by toggling the STOP key.
¡ In Self Diagnosis mode, the operations which are normally conducted by the cassette
mechanism basic operation keys shall not be executed. Those keys are used only to comfirm a diagnosis results. The keys used for other functions shall bevalid, unless there are some reason to make them invalid.
¡
As HALF SW solder point and RECINH SW solder point are located close to each other, it’s necessary to check the shorting between the adjacent points. For this purpose, operation has to be executed twice using two kind of cassettes,i.e. a cassette with recording preventive tabs for both Sides A/B and a cassette with a recording preventive tab for only either one side of Sides A/B.

10.1.3 Setting of CD mechanism self diagnosis mode
TOP PREVIOUS NEXT
F15 : CD REST SW abnormal.
At initial setting of CD traverse position, if REST SW ON is not detected even though the fail safe timer time is over (10 sec), this is memorized as an error and the error number can be cleared only at the start up of micro-p after reset.
H15 : CD OPEN SW abnormal.
During normal operation, if CD OPEN SW ON is not detected within 4 sec, then H15 shall be memorized in memory. The error code can be cleared only at the start up of micro-p after reset.
H01 : Deck operation abnormal (reel motor, solenoid and mode SW)
During normal operation, if mechanism error process is executed once by mode switch against the same deck operation, it is judged as mechanism abnormality and this is memorized as an error.
Conditions for judging mechanism error :
1.Mode switch ON is not detected 800 ms after plunger activation for PLAY/REC process.
2.Mode switch ON in not detected 800 ms after plunger activation for FF/REW process. Or, Mode switch OFF in not detected 800 ms after plunger activation after detecting Mode SW ON. Or, Mode switch ON is not detected 800 ms after detecting Modeswitch OFF.
3.If Mode switch comes ON at STOP/PAUSE state (normal condition), this is judge as Error :-
A.Main purpose for this Self Diagnosis is to diagnose a partial short of a deck.
B.Mechanical error process caused by EJECT operation shall not be counted.
C.This error number can be cleared only at the start up of micro-p reset.
F26 : Communication between CD servo LSI and micro-p abnormal
At the time of switching to CD function, SENSE = H shall be detected using DTMS system setting command. If the error is memorized when SENSE = L is not detected within fail safe timer time (20 msec), [F26] shall be displayed simultaneously. This display shall be retained if the power is ON and at CD function. If this error occurs, CD operation afterward shall not be executed as in the case of [NO DISC].
This error number can be cleared only at the start up of micro-p reset.

10.1.4 Confirmation of self diagnosis result
TOP PREVIOUS NEXT
1.At the Self Diagnosis mode, error number shall be displayed every time STOP/FUNCTION key is pressed.
Example:[ T H 03 ] (the display shall be retained)
2.To come out from the Self Diagnosis mode, execute power OFF.
3.Even at power OFF operation, this error numbers shall not be cleared (the number can be cleared only at the start up of micro-p reset).
4.If repeating Self Diagnosis, add the newly detected errors only without deleting errors which has been detected before
