Subject: Repair Procedure for HiFi DD Cylinders
We are pleased to introduce a service hint for repairing the DD cylinder instead of replacing it if the
following symptoms occur.
Please note that this repair may not be carried out if the DD cylinder is seized and fails to rotate.
1) Model Numbers
Group A NV-HD100/HD90/HD700/HS1000/HS800/F55/F65/F70/F75/F77
V8000/FS90/FS1/FS100 Series.
Group B NV-HD600/HD650/HS900 Series.
2) Symptom
A) Noise appears on the TV screen during playback.
B) The picture is unstable (horizontal jitter) during playback.
C) The DD cylinder is noisy in record or playback modes.
3) To carry out the repair the following parts are required:
VFK1268 (oil)
VFK0301 (spacer)
VFK0960 (special asterisk type screw driver)
VFK0959 (grease)
4) Repair
Please apply the special oil VFK1268 to the DD cylinder as detailed in Groups A and B.

FS1/FS100 Series
Note: If the DD cylinder is seized and does not rotate it will have to be replaced.
1) Insert the spacer VFK0301 between the upper and lower cylinders to protect the video head.
Ensure that you do not damage the video head when inserting the spacer. Fig. A-1.
2) Remove 3 screws on the cylinder unit using screwdrive VFK0690. Fig. A-1.
3) Remove the thrust plate from the upper cylinder.
4) Wipe the grease from the thrust plate and the spindle of the cylinder.
5) Apply a drop of oil VFK1268 to the tip of some tweezers to prevent over application Fig. A-2.
6) Place the tip of the tweezers on to the E-ring which is mounted on the cylinder spindle and apply
one drop of oil only. Fig. A-3.
7) Apply grease VK0959 to the spindle of the cylinder unit. Fig. A-4.
