INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on purchasing the RM323A Radio-controlled
Travel Clock with World Time.

This clock is a compact device for travellers. It is designed to
automatically synchronize its current time and date with the
U.S. Atomic clock.

In addition to the local time and calendar display, the users
can also select to display the corresponding time of 130 major
world cities.

This clock also comes with favorable features including key­lock function, multilingual day-of-the-week display, EL back­light, hourly chime and dual alarm with 8-minute snooze
function.

4. FOLDABLE TABLE STAND

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Before operation, remember to slide the key-lock switch to
the left to release all key operations.

BATTERY INSTALLATION

1. Remove the battery compartment door.

2. Insert two (2) pieces of “AAA” 1.5V batteries as shown.

3. Press [RESET].

4. Replace the battery compartment door.

4. [ALARM] BUTTON

- Press to toggle among the calendar, weekday alarm
and single alarm modes

- Press and hold for 2 seconds to enter the setting modes
of the corresponding alarm in display

5. [ALARM ON/OFF] BUTTON

- Press to activate/deactivate the corresponding alarm
in display

- Slide to lock the key-functions

When the battery power level is low, the low battery indicator [ ]
will light up. Replace the batteries accordingly.

CTIVATING THE BACK-LIGHT

When the unit is placed on the table, press [SNOOZE/LIGHT]
button downward to turn on the back-light for 5 seconds.

DISPLAY MODES

Press [MODE] button to display the following in sequence:

To display the dual alarm times, press [ALARM] button.

ABOUT RADIO RECEPTION

This clock is designed to automatically synchronize its calen­dar clock once it is brought within the range of the WWVB
radio signal broadcast from Ft. Collins, Colorado. When the
unit is within range, its radio-control mechanism will override
all manual settings unless auto-reception of radio signal has
been manually deactivated.

When the clock is receiving radio signal, the radio reception
icon will start to blink. A complete reception generally takes
about 2 to 10 minutes, depending on the strength of the radio
signal. When the reception is complete, the radio reception
icon will stop blinking. The strength of the reception for the
last full hour will be indicated.

For better reception, place the unit away from metal objects
and electrical appliances to minimize interference.

Should you wish to deactivate the RF controlled function, press
and hold [DOWN] button for 3 seconds. The radio reception
icon will disappear. To reactivate the RF controlled function,
press and hold [UP] button for 3 seconds again and the radio
reception icon will be re-displayed.

SETTING THE CLOCK AND CALENDAR
CLOCK MANUALLY

1. Press and hold [MODE] button for 2 seconds.

2. Using the [UP]/[DOWN] button to scroll through the 4
U.S. time-zones (Pacific, Mountain, Central or Eastern)
or non-U.S.cities. Press [MODE] to confirm.

3. If non-U.S. city is selected, the world time city will be
flashing. Use [UP]/[DOWN] to select the city (for city
names abbreviation, please refer to the section “Selecting
the World Time”). Press [MODE] to confirm.

4. Repeat the same procedures to set the hours, minutes,
year, month, day, language of day-of-week and hourly­chime on/off by using [UP]/[DOWN] button.

5. Press [MODE] button to save the changes and exit.

6. For the language for day-of-week, you can select “E” for
English, “D” for German, “F” for French, “I” for Italian or
“S” for Spanish. The day-of-week can be expressed as
an abbreviation in five different languages. The languages
and their selected abbreviations for each day of the week
are shown in the language chart below.

NOTE When changes are made to the minute, the sec­onds will start from zero. The unit will also save all changes
and return to normal display automatically after the unit
has been left idle for a minute.

ABOUT THE HOURLY-CHIME FUNCTION

When the Hourly-Chime is set to on, the indicator [ ] will
light up and a beep sound will be given out at the beginning of
each hour.

SETTING THE ALARM

This clock is equipped with 2 alarms: Weekday Alarm and
Single Alarm. For the Weekday Alarm, alarm will only sound
out at the preset times during weekday (i.e., from Monday to
Friday) and will be automatically disabled during the week­end (i.e., Saturday and Sunday). For the Single Alarm, alarm
will sound out once at the preset time.

To set the alarm:

1. Press [ALARM] to change to the respective alarm-time
display mode.

2. Press and hold [ALARM] for 2 seconds.

3. Use [UP]/[DOWN] button to enter the hours. Press
[ALARM] button to confirm.

4. Use [UP]/[DOWN] to enter the minutes. Press [ALARM]
to exit.

The alarm will be automatically activated after setting. The
corresponding Alarm-On indicator [

] or [ ]will appear.

To deactivate the alarm, press the [

ON/OFF ] button when

the corresponding alarm time is displayed. [ -: -- ] will be dis­played to indicate such deactivation.

ALARM AND SNOOZE FUNCTION

An alarm will go off for 2 minutes in two-step crescendo
patterns if undisturbed. The Alarm-On indicator will flash and
the back-light will be activated for 5 seconds. To mute the
alarm, press any key. Pressing [SNOOZE/LIGHT] button
will activate the snooze function.

When the snooze function is activated, the alarm will be
muted temporarily and set off again after 8 minutes. To disable the
snooze function when the alarm goes off, you can press
and hold the [SNOOZE/LIGHT] button for 3 seconds. Alternatively

press [ALARM] or [

ON/OFF] button.

SETTING THE WORLD TIME

This clock features a World-time display function so that you
can check the corresponding time of different places in the
world instantly with DST [Daylight Saving Time] automatically
adjusted. The names of the world cities are shown in an abbre­viated 3-letter format (e.g., “WDC” for Washington DC, U.S.).

To set the world time:

1. Press [WORLD TIME] button once. The World-Time icon
will be flashing.

2. Use the [UP]/[DOWN] button to select the world city.

3. Press the [WORLD TIME] button to confirm.

THE RESET BUTTON

The [RESET] button is used to enhance synchronization of
signals after battery replacement or when the unit is operating
in an unfavourable way or malfunctioning. Use a blunt stylus
to hold down the button. All settings will return to their default
values.

KEY-LOCK FUNCTION

To lock all key-operation when carrying this clock with you,
slide the [KEY-LOCK] switch to the right. To operate this clock
again, slide the switch to the opposite direction.

TABLE-STANDING

This unit is designed specially to facilitate table-standing.

MAINTENANCE

When handled properly, this unit is engineered to give you
years of satisfactory service. Here are a few product care
instructions:

1. Do not immerse the unit in water. If the unit comes in
contact with water, dry it immediately with a soft lint-free
cloth.

2. Do not clean the unit with alcohol containing detergent,
abrasive or corrosive materials. Abrasive cleaning agents
may scratch the plastic parts and corrode the electronic
circuit.

3. Do not subject the unit to excessive: force, shock, dust,
temperature, or humidity. Such treatment may result in
malfunction, a shorter electronic life span, damaged
batteries, or distorted parts.

4. Do not tamper with the unit’s internal components. Doing
so will terminate the unit’s warranty and may cause
damage. The unit contains no user-serviceable parts.

5. Only use new batteries as specified in this instruction
manual. Do not mix new and old batteries as the old
batteries may leak.

6. Read this instruction manual thoroughly before operating
the unit.

Trouble

All function keys are disabled

Reception icon "Antenna" is not
shown

- Clock time is not correctly set; and/or

- Reception icon "Antenna" displays
as "No reception"

Possible Cause

Rear slide switch is locked

Auto-reception of clock radio signal has
been disabled

The clock radio signal is not received
because:

- Electromagnetic interference exists, or
the Main Unit is located within reinforced
concrete walls or shadowed area
location

- Orientation of placement is not at opti­mum position for reception of clock
radio signal

Remedy

Unlock the rear switch

Enable this function by following the
instructions in the User’s Manual

- Locate the Main Unit far from PC,
mobile phone etc and re-locate it near
the window sill. Wait at least 24 hours
(note: during night-time signal is
stronger, particularly after rain)

- The clock radio signal is searched at
1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 9:00, 15:00, 21:00
every day automatically

-To force the signal reception please
refer to instructions in the User’s
manual

Este Reloj es un dispositivo compacto, ideal para las personas que
viajan. Su diseño le permite una sincronización automática del
horario y de la fecha actual con el Reloj Atómico de EE. UU.

Además del visor de la hora local y del calendario, los usuarios
también pueden elegir la visualización del horario correspondiente
a las 130 principales ciudades del mundo.

Este Reloj también cuenta con la función de bloqueo de reloj,

INSTALACIÓN DE LAS PILAS

1. Retirar la tapa del compartimiento de pilas.

2. Introducir dos (2) pilas tamaño “AAA” de 1,5 V según se muestra.

3. Pulsar RESET.

4. Volver a colocar la tapa del compartimiento de pilas.
Cuando el nivel de energía de la pila es bajo, el indicador de bajo

nivel de pila [ ] se iluminará. Cambiar las pilas según corresponda.

ENCENDIDO DE LA LUZ DE FONDO

Pulsar [SNOOZE/LIGHT] para encender la luz de fondo
5 segundos.

MODOS DE VISUALIZACIÓN

Pulsar [MODE] para ver la información siguiente en secuencia:

1) Hora actual con segundo
Abreviatura del nombre de la ciudad del

mundo y Hora

2) Hora actual con día de la semana
Abreviatura del nombre de la ciudad del

mundo con Hora

3) Almanaque
Abreviatura del nombre de la ciudad del

Para ver las horas de la alarma doble, pulsar el botón [ALARM].

ACERCA DE LA RECEPCIÓN DE RADIO

Este reloj se ha diseñado para sincronizar automáticamente su reloj
almanaque una vez que se encuentre dentro del radio de alcance de
la señal de radio. Cuando la unidad está dentro del alcance, su
mecanismo de radiocontrol anulará todos los ajustes manuales, a
menos que la recepción automática de la señal de radio haya sido
desactivada manualmente.

Cuando el reloj está recibiendo la señal de radio, el icono de
recepción de radio empezará a parpadear. Una recepción completa
tarda generalmente entre 2 y 10 minutos, según la intensidad de la
señal de radio. Cuando la recepción ha terminado, el icono de
recepción de radio parará de parpadear. La intensidad de la recepción
para la última hora completa se indicará en la pantalla.

Para obtener mejor recepción, alejar la unidad de objetos metálicos
y aparatos eléctricos a fin de reducir la interferencia al mínimo.

Si desea desactivar la función de control por RF, pulsar y mantener
oprimido el botón [DOWN] 3 segundos. El icono de recepción de
radio desaparecerá. Para reactivar la función de control por RF, pulsar
y mantener oprimido [UP] 3 segundos otra vez y el icono de
recepción de radio volverá a aparecer en la pantalla.

AJUSTE MANUAL DEL RELOJ Y DEL

RELOJ ALMANAQUE

1. Pulsar y mantener oprimido el botón [MODE] 2 segundos.

2. Utilice el botón [UP]/[DOWN] para avanzar o retroceder a través
de las 4 zonas horarias de EE. UU. (Pacífico, de las Montañas,
Central u Oriental) o de las ciudades que no están dentro de los
EE. UU. Presione el [MODO] para confirmar.

3. Si selecciona una Ciudad que no está dentro de los EE. UU., se
encenderá la ciudad del horario Internacional. Utilice [UP]/
[DOWN] para elegir la ciudad. (para la abreviatura de los
nombres de las ciudades, lea la sección “Selección de la Hora
Internacional”). Presione [MODO] para confirmar.

4. Repita los mismos procedimientos para poner la hora, minutos,
año, mes, día, el idioma del día de la semana y encienda/apague
on/off el campaneo cada hora-usando el botón [UP]/[DOWN].

5. Pulse el botón [MODE] para salvar los cambios y salir.

6. Para seleccionar el idioma del día de la semana, usted puede
escoger “E” para Inglés, “D” para Alemán, “F” para Francés, “I”
para italiano o “S” para Español. El día de la semana puede
expresarse en forma de una abreviación en cinco idiomas
diferentes. Los idiomas y sus abreviaciones seleccionadas para
cada día de la semana son mostrados en el cuadro de los idiomas
anotado debajo.

Nota: Cuando se realizan cambios en los minutos, los segundos
empezarán a partir de cero. La unidad guardará también todos los
cambios y regresará a la pantalla normal automáticamente después
de que la unidad haya estado inactiva durante un minuto.

FUNCIÓN DE ALARMA Y “SNOOZE”

Una alarma sonará durante 2 minutos en crescendo en dos pasos si
no se toca. El indicador de alarma activada destellará y la luz de
fondo se encenderá durante 5 segundos. Para silenciar la alarma,
pulsar cualquier tecla. Pulsar el botón [SNOOZE/LIGHT] para
activar la función de repetición de alarma “snooze”.

Cuando la función “snooze” está activada, la alarma se silenciará
temporalmente y volverá a sonar al cabo de 8 minutos. Para
desactivar la función “snooze” cuando suena la alarma, puede pulsar
y mantener oprimido el botón [SNOOZE/LIGHT] durante 3
segundos. Alternativamente, pulsar el botón [ALARM] o [ALARM

ON/OFF].

AJUSTE DE LA HORA MUNDIAL

El reloj posee una función de visualización de Hora Mundial, para
comprobar la hora correspondiente de diferentes ciudades del
mundo de forma instantánea con la función DST [Cambio de Hora
debido al Cambio de Estación] ajustada automáticamente. Los
nombres de las ciudades del mundo se muestran en formato
abreviado de 3 letras ( Por ejemplo: “WDC” en lugar de Washing­ton DC, EE. UU.).

Para ajustar la hora mundial:

1. Pulsar el botón [WORLD TIME] una vez. El icono de hora
mundial destellará.

2. Utilizar el botón [UP]/[DOWN] para seleccionar la ciudad del
mundo.

3. Pulsar el botón [WORLD TIME] para confirmar.

ACERCA DE LA FUNCIÓN DE

CAMPANADA HORARIA

Cuando la campanada horaria está en el modo activado, el indicador

[

] se encenderá y un bip sonará al comienzo de cada hora.

AJUSTE DE LA ALARMA

Este reloj tiene 2 alarmas: Alarma del día de la semana y Alarma
simple. Para la alarma del día de la semana, la alarma solamente
sonará a las horas prefijadas durante el día de la semana (es decir,
lunes a viernes) y se desactivará automáticamente durante el fin de
semana (sábado y domingo). Para la alarma simple, la alarma sonará
una vez a la hora prefijada.

Para ajustar la alarma:

1. Pulsar [ALARM] para cambiar al modo de visualización de hora

de alarma respectivo.

2. Pulsar y mantener oprimido [ALARM] 2 segundos.

3. Usar el botón [UP]/[DOWN] para introducir las horas. Pulsar
[ALARM] para confirmar.

4. Usar el botón [UP]/[DOWN] para introducir los minutos. Pulsar
[ALARM] para salir.

La alarma se activará automáticamente después del ajuste. El

EL BOTÓN RESET

El botón [RESET] se utiliza para mejorar la sincronización de las
señales después de sustituir las pilas o cuando la unidad funciona
mal. Utilice una punta roma para presionar el botón. T odos los ajustes
volverán a sus valores predeterminados.

FUNCIÓN DE BLOQUEO DE TECLAS

Para bloquear las funciones de las teclas cuando se transporta el
reloj, deslizar el conmutador [KEY-LOCK] a la derecha. Para volver
a accionar el reloj, deslice el conmutador en dirección opuesta.

PARA APOYAR EN LA MESA

Esta unidad fue especialmente designada para facilitar su apoyo
sobre la mesa.

MANTENIMIENTO

Cuando se maneja con cuidado, esta unidad se ha construido para
proporcionar años de servicio satisfactorio. He aquí algunas
instrucciones para su cuidado:

1. No sumergir la unidad en agua. Si la unidad entra en contacto
con el agua, secarla inmediatamente con un paño suave sin borra.

2. No limpie la unidad con detergente que contenga alcohol,
materiales abrasivos o corrosivos. Los materiales de limpieza
abrasivos pueden rayar las partes plásticas y pueden corroer el
circuito electrónico.

Solución

Desbloquee el interruptor trasero

Active esta función siguiendo las
instrucciones dadas en el Manual del
Usuario

- Coloque la Unidad Principal lejos de PC,
teléfonos móviles etc. y reubiquelas cerca
del umbral de la ventana. Espere 24 horas
por lo menos (nota: durante las horas de la
noche la señal de la hora es más fuerte,
particularmente después de la lluvia)

- La señal de radio del reloj es buscada a la
1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 9:00, 15:00, 21:00 todos
los días automáticamente

- Para reforzar la señala de recepción por
favor refiérase a las instrucciones del
manual del Usuario

- Para otros casos no listados en el cuadro anterior, siéntase libre de contactar nuestra línea de ayuda al consumidor.
