ted on the rear side of the device. When the housing has been opened
and the lock is not engaged, visible laser radiation can escape. Avoid

•If operating the device inside a vehicle, do not set the volume level too

•Make sure that the cables are not damaged, stretched or twisted and
that no short circuits occur. This could lead to electric shocks and fires.
Install the cables in such a way that they do not come in contact with
any movable parts. Do not install any cables near heaters and do not
place any heavy objects on them.
•Make sure that no objects or fluids can penetrate into the device
though openings or venting slots . This could lead to short circuits,

contain liquids, such as vases, on top of the device.

Note
•The mains voltage must correspond to the operating voltage of the
device indicated on the device housing. If you are not sure what the
mains voltage is, please find out from your local electric power

•Ensure adequate air circulation around the device. Do not place the
device on soft furniture, carpets or other materials while in operation,

are damaged or deformed in any other way or that are of poor quality.
•Do not play any discs of a wrong format. For example, if you assign the
exten si o n “.cda” to a fi l e that does not, in fact, have this for mat, a very
loud sound may be played that can dama ge speakers.
• Do not touch the TFT LCD screen with your bare hand.
• Do not place any heavy objects on top of the device. Otherwise
malfunctions or damage may result.
•Do not expose the remote control to direct sunlight. This may cause
malfunctions or the batteries to leak.
•When cleaning the device, do not use any vola tile sub stan ce s, su ch as
solvents, to avoid damaging the surface. Clean the device only using a

Using the remote control
•Aim the remote control straight at the sensor of the player. The
distance to the player should not be greater than 5m, and the angle
should not exceed 60°.
•The inappropriate use of the battery can lead to overheating, explosion,
fire and injuries. Leaking batteries can damage the remote control.
• Do not expose the remote control to direct sunlight.
• The battery must not be recharged, deformed, disassembled or
overheated.
• Do not throw the battery into water or fire.
• Replace discharged batteries immediately.

5 Connecting the DVD player
• The DVD player, the television set and any other electric devices to be
connected to the DVD player mus t be switched off and disconnected from
the mains.
• Observe the colour coding when connecting audio and video cables.
5.1 Connecting to a television set
Audio/video connectors
Using the audio/video cables, connect the DVD player t o the A/V inputs
of the television set as shown in the illustration below.

5.2 Connecting to an amplifier
Prior to connecting the DVD player to an external audio device, read
the operating instructions f or the respect i ve devi ce. Connect the DVD
player to the A/V amplifier as shown in the illustration below.

5.3 Connecting to an external A/V source
Using the audio/video cables, connect the DVD player t o the A/V signal
source (for example, DVD or video recorder) as shown in the illustration
below. Then set the DVD/AV IN switch to AV IN.
Note
When external audio signals are received during DVD playback, this
can lead to disturbing noise in the lo udsp eakers. If this is the case,
disconnect the audio cable.

5.4 Connecting headphones
Connect the headphones to the headphone jack on the right side of the
device. The loudspeakers are automatically deact i vat ed.
5.5 Power supply unit
The DVD player is delivered with a power supply unit. Connect the
power supply unit as described below:
Connect the power supply cable to the DC 9.5V IN jack on the right side
of the device as shown below.
Connect the power plug to an earthed socket. The power supply
indicator lamp lights up red.
Note
1. Turn off the DVD player before you unplug the mains cable from
the socket.
2. When the DVD player operates on mains power, the LCD screen
lights up brighter than when it operates on battery power.

5.6 Car adapter
Use the supplied car adapter to operate the DVD player in a vehicle.
Connect the adapter cable as shown below to the mains terminal of the
DVD player and the cigarette lighter of the vehicl e.

6 Rechargeable battery pack
A rechargeable lithium ion battery is incl uded in the scope of deli very of
your portable DVD player. This battery is connect ed on the rear side
of the device. Fully charge the battery before you use the device for
the first time. Normally it takes about five hours for the battery to be
charged. When the rechargeable battery is fully charged, you can
operate the device with it for about three hours. However, the actual
operating time also depends on the disc you use. Fully charge the
battery when it will not be used for an extended period of time.
Notes on using rechargeable batteries:
¾ When using a new recha rge able battery, full y charg e it pri or to use .
¾ Use rechargeable batteries only in temperatures between 0°C and
40°C.
¾ Do not throw the battery into water or fire.
¾ Do not expose recharg ea bl e batt eri es t o high tem pe rat ur es or di re ct
sunlight.
¾Ensure adequate air circ ulation around the device. Do not place the
device on soft furniture, carpets or other materials while in operation,
as this may restrict the air from properly circulating around the device.
¾ Do not short-circuit the contacts of a rechargeable battery.
¾ Do not disassemble the rechargeable battery.
¾ Remove the battery pack when it is fully charged. While the battery is
being charged, the battery status indicator lamp lights up red; when
the battery is fully charged, the l amp lights up green.
¾ Remove the rechargeable battery pack when it is not used.
¾ When the state of charge reaches a low level, the
displayed on the LCD screen. About five minutes later the DVD player
turns off automatically.

6.1 Connecting the rechargeable battery pack
Connect the rechargeable battery pack as described below:
1. Place the DVD player with the bottom side up on a plain, clean
surface.
2. Hold on to the device with one hand. Position the battery's plastic pins
so that they are aligned with the matching notches on the DVD player,
and push the battery inside the device until it audibly locks into place.

6.2 Charging the battery pack
Charge the rechargeable battery as descri bed below:
1. Connect the battery to the DVD player.
2. Connect the power supply unit that is supplied with the device to the
DC 9.5V IN power jack on the right side of the device.
3. Connect the power plug to an earthed socket as shown in the
illustration below.

6.3 Removing the rechargeable battery pack
Fully charge the battery and remove it from the device when it will not
be used for an extended period of time. Even a device that is turned off
uses small amounts of electricit y in standby mode which ultimately
discharges the battery.
Turn off the DVD player before you remove the rechargeable batt ery as
described below:
1. Push the battery's locking mechanism forward with one hand and,
using the other hand, pull out the bat tery as shown in the illustration
below.
2. Store the battery in a suitable location when it will not be used for an
extended period of time.

8 Playback operation
Getting started
1. Connect the device to a mains socket using the power supply unit that
is delivered with the device.
2. Pus the POWER ON/OFF switch on the left side of the device to the
ON position. The device's power supply indicator lamp lights up green,
and a welcome screen is displayed.
3. Press the OPEN butto n, insert a disc with th e printed side facing up,
and close the disc cover (see illustr ation).

4. The DVD player automatically starts with the playback.
5. Adjust the vol ume to the desired level using the VOLUME contro ller on
the r ight si de.
6. Press the PWR button on the remote control. The DVD player switches

To change brightness, contrast or colour. Adjust
the values using the + and – buttons. If you hold
down the button for 1-2 s, the aspect ration toggles
between 16:9 and 4:3 (see illustration).
For DVDs the image size is successively changed
to the following values compared to the normal
size: 2x, 3x, 4x, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4.
For JPEG discs, first press the ZOOM button; this
allows you to successivel y inc rease the image size
to 125 %, 150 % and 200 % using the button or
to successively decreas e the image size to 75 %

This function is not available for CDs.
A-B button
Enables you to repeat playback of the section bet ween points A and B multiple times while a disc is

In this section, you will learn how to customize the default settings of
the system according to your needs.

Letterbox image format
In this format, the image of widescreen DVDs is displayed with black
bars at the top and the bottom of the screen.
Pan&Scan image format
In this format, the image of widescreen DVDs is cropped on the right

Titles, chapters
