SWITCHING ON

A Press PWR and hold until confirmation tone is
heard.
The phone will carry out a short self-test, briefly displaying the mobile phone number, or name associated with the number.
If
NO SVC
appears, it most likely means that you are outside the cellular service area and the network cannot serve you.
A cellular phone can only send and receive calls when it is switched on.

SWITCHING OFF

A Press PWR and hold until confirmation tone is
heard.

PLACING A CALL

Fully extend the antenna before making or receiving a call.
Push in the antenna when you are not using the phone. You can use the phone without extending the antenna in a good coverage area (see the signal strength meter on the display).
A Key in the number (include the area code, if
you’re making a long distance call).
If you make a mistake, you can delete the last number by pressing CLR momentarily; or clear the whole display, by pressing and holding CLR.
B Press SEND.
6
The
IN USE
indicator will appear on the display, and the number will disappear from the display once the connection is made.
C Lift the phone to your ear, and wait until your call
is answered – then speak.
D When you have finished the call, press END.
If the indicator
NO SVC
appears, you are outside the
cellular service area and no calls can be made. If the message
LOCKED
appears when you try to
make a call, your phone has been
LOCKED
– see Section 4, Lock Phone, page 18. You can make emergency calls with the 9 key pressed down for about 3 seconds (remember to set the emergency feature
ON
with the phone’s menu facility). Emergency calls can also be made by keying in the emergency number and pressing the SEND key .

RECEIVING A CALL

When there is an incoming call, the phone rings and the
CALL
message flashes on the display.
If the ringing tone has been switched off – the
SILENT SERVICE
feature has been selected for privacy reasons – the keypad and display lights will flash instead and only one short beep will be given (see Section 4, Ringing Volume, page 22).
A Press the SEND key or any key except PWR, then
lift the phone to your ear.
B When you have finished speaking, press END.
If you don’t answer the call, the
CALL
indicator message will remain on the display (showing that someone has tried to phone you). Press any key to clear the display.

VOLUME KEYS

The earpiece volume can be controlled by the scroll keys during a call.
Use the key to increase and the key to decrease volume level. The volume level is displayed with VOLUME 1 indicating the lowest volume level and VOLUME 5 indicating the highest volume level.
Note that these keys also act as scroll keys within the memory recall and menu facility.

LAST NUMBER REDIALING

The last number dialed can be redialed automatically without re-entering it.
A With the display clear, press SEND.
The number you last called or tried to call will appear on the display. (The number can still be retrieved even if the phone has been switched off between attempts.)

EASY DIALING

Easy dialing is the quickest and easiest way to make a call with your phone – with only one keystroke.
You can store the two telephone numbers which you use most often, i.e. home, office or voice mail, in these Easy Dial memory locations.
A To call, press the key and the phone
displays the number and automatically dials it.
To place a call with the key, follow instructions above. For storing the Easy Dial numbers see Section 3, Storing Easy Dial Numbers, page 11.
8

SPEED DIALING

Speed dialing is a quick way to recall and dial a telephone number (already stored in the memory).
A Key in the number of the memory location (e.g. 2)
and press SEND.
The phone will recall the telephone number from memory (e.g. from the memory location 2), display it briefly, and then dial it.
For storing, see Section 3, Storing a Number, page 11.

EMERGENCY DIALING

Note: Remember to turn the EMERGENCY CALL feature ON in the menu (see page 21).
A Press and hold the 9 key for about 3 seconds to
place an emergency call.
The phone dials an emergency number programmed in your phone by your phone dealer. The call is made even if your phone is locked. If there is more than one emergency number programmed, the first one is used for emergency speed dialing. Up to 21 digits can be entered for emergency numbers.
Note: When the Keyguard feature is active (see next paragraph), one key emergency dialing is prevented, however you can dial an emergency number in the normal way, i.e. by pressing 911 (the number is displayed on the entry of last digit) and SEND.
9

KEYGUARD

The phone’s keypad may be locked to avoid accidental keypresses, e.g. when the phone is in your pocket.
When keyguard is active, only calls to emergency numbers can be made (911 and SEND, the telephone number is displayed on the entry of last digit). All incoming calls can be answered by pressing SEND.
A To turn keyguard on or off, press MENU
When the keypad is locked, the
‘KEYGUARD ACTIVE’
message is shown. When any key is pressed, the phone prompts you with
‘PRESS MENU
’ to
deactivate the feature.

3. The Memory

GENERAL INFO

The phone has 14 standard memory locations (1-14) which allow you to store phone numbers up to 32 digits long.
Locations 12 and 13 are used as Easy Dial locations, which can be accessed by normal recall keystrokes but also directly with the and keys respectively.
In addition: – the phone stores the last five dialed telephone numbers with memory location 0 storing the last number dialed – see Section 3, Dialed Calls Memory, page 14.
– memory location 15 stores the phone’s own number. If your phone has two numbers it will display the one it is currently using – see Section 3, Displaying Your Own Number, page 15.
