"DET NORSKE VERITAS" CERTIFICATE:
Rules for Mobile Offshore Units ............... 25-27
1.1 Owners responsibility
To maintain the effi cient operation and ensure a long trouble free life from your new Nilfi sk-ALTO high pressure cleaner it rests with each operative to handle and operate the cleaner in the correct way. It is important therefore to ensure that the in struc tion manual is made available to each operative and that it is always to hand in order that he may read the operating instructions and in particular the safety requirements (section 8.0).
1.2 Use in hazardous areas
This high pressure cleaner model 03KOS has been approved by “DET NORSKE VERITAS” for use in hazardous areas classifi ed as zone 1 and 2 as the models comply with the requirements of “DET
NORSKE VERITAS’s Rules for Mobile Offshore Units, Part 5, Chapter 3". (See certifi cate page
25-27).
The approval appears from the model tag of the cleaner. Even though the above-mentioned cleaners have been approved for use in hazardous areas, Nilfi skALTO still recommends the users to observe all necessary precautions when using mobile high pressure cleaners in hazardous areas.
Furthermore it should be emphasized that the users are responsible for the examination and observance of other national and international requirements of any kind.

3.1 Water connection
The water input is connected at the back of the machine. The machine can be connected directly to the mains water supply, or it can work as a selfpriming unit*). For direct water connection the inlet hose must be at least 6 m long, and the water temperature must not exceed 85°C. Please note that connection to the public water supply may entail mounting of a fl oat cham ber. If there is sand or other impurities in the water, it is advisable to provide an external water fi lter in addition to the internal fi lter situated behind the quick coupling. For connection of air motor, see section 9.0.
*) With cold water (up to 8°C) the cleaner will operate satisfactorily with up to a 5 metre diffe rence of level between cleaner and water supply. The pump and the inlet hose must be connected to the water supply before starting up. When working with hot water (85°C) the cleaner must be below or on a level with the point of water supply. Working with hot water and connected to high pressure hoses longer than 10 m or inlet hoses shorter than 6 m, the cleaner must be equipped with a fl oat chamber. The same applies if the outlet of the cleaner is connected to a tube system.
The cleaner is delivered with a double lance and a spray handle together with high pressure hose as standard equipment. The low pressure tube is equipped with a fl at jet nozzle 6530 and the high pressure hose with a fl at jet nozzle 1506. The fi rst two fi gures of the nozzle reference number indicate the spray angle in degrees and the last two indicate the water fl ow in I/min. at a pressure of 20 bar and a tem per a ture of 20°C. The equivalent hole diameters for nozzle 1506 is
1.6 mm and for nozzle 6530 is 3.6 mm. Do not replace with nozzles of a smaller diameter. The maximum working pressure and temperature are printed on the standard high pressure hose. Only use Nilfi sk-ALTO high pressure hoses. In case of damage, arrange for Nilfi sk-ALTO service engineers to repair it. Do not attempt to repair it yourself.
The thrust on the nozzle is for: 2603KLU 31N (3.2 kp)
As the thrust forms an angle with the spray lance, the spray handle is subject to torque.
As standard equipment the cleaner is delivered with chemical injector for addition of detergents.
