Simplicity in Design. Clarity in Sound.
At NAD Electronics an obsession for music, and a traditional commitment to
sonic and visual delity, have remained steadfast over our 36 year history. So
has our quest for ever-greater simplicity, innovation, and user-friendliness. Since
these also happen to be the values of many of the world’s most demanding
reviewers, the critics have raved about NAD audio excellence and have made
us something of a performance standard in the audio/video world.
Distinctive products seek a selective audience. NAD’s intent, by design, is to
meet and even exceed the highest audio and video expectations of serious
performance enthusiasts. Artistic authenticity—the ambition to achieve the
every design decision at NAD. Whether the medium is music or movies; our
objective is to place the NAD owner in the heat of the action of a theatrical
blockbuster, or third-row-center stage of a favourite musical event. Solid
engineering, honest power, and a passion for realism are NAD’s recipe for
achieving this goal.
Given the excitement and impact of home theatre, it can be easy to overlook
that music remains the truest test of any audio system. Every NAD component is
conceived and engineered with this “Music First” design mandate: a commitment to
deliver a true high-delity music listening experience. So while we insist that NAD
designs reproduce the full impact of a surround sound movie, we equally demand
the purity of a brilliantly played and masterfully recorded classical composition or jazz
session. Only components that deliver this with effortless power and resolve, can
satisfy NAD’s “Music First” credo.
Just as essential, NAD components preserve the artistic intent of musicians, producers,
and directors, despite the obstacles that system-setup and room acoustics can so often
present. Put another way, NAD receivers, ampliers, and source components don’t
just work perfectly in ideal setups, they’re engineered to deliver benchmark-quality
sound and picture for real people, living in the real world. Listen, and read beyond the
hype. Visit your NAD audio-video specialist to discover rst-hand how everything you’ll
hear is true.
NAD performance is supported by our
“Full-Disclosure” specications, rather than
specs created by engineers to fulll the
needs of marketing-driven brochures.
Paradoxically, plenty of engineers do
in fact choose NAD. So do thousands
of others; less technical but no less
demanding music and lm lovers who
make the effort to research, listen, and
read beyond the hype.
Audio. Video. NAD.
NAD T175 AV Tuner Preamplier
NAD’s home theatre designs reect a philosophy quite distinct from that of
most mass-market receivers, separate components, and DVD players today.
Our “Music First” credo mandates that we enrich our audio/video products
with the same tonally pure, dynamically thrilling performance that makes
listening to music through our world-renowned stereo components so very
compelling. This stands in stark contrast to our competitors, so many of whom
conceive audio/video components overwhelmingly from a “feature content”
point of view—with sound quality found well down the list of priorities.
Yet NAD AV receivers, AV component separates, and DVD players are
second to none in terms of exibility, usability and highly developed digital
technology. While they may avoid features that are of purely “gee-whiz”
value, they are richly endowed with sophisticated, thoughtful functions whose
genuine usefulness have proven themselves beyond question.
As an example, take NAD’s uniquely enhanced Audyssey™ MultEQ
XT auto set-up and room-calibration—perhaps the most advanced
and most musically and sonically effective application of audio digital
processing on any AV component. Examine NAD’s well-considered
approach to HDMI™, the single-cable, High-Denition Multimedia
Interface that is a key enabling technology of today’s AV gear. Every one
of the NAD AV receivers and preamp-processor features HDMI inputs
and switching supporting native resolutions up to and including 1080p.
The T175, T785 and T775 add even more HDMI functionality—with
audio processing and On-Screen Display. Our intuitive on-screen menu/
display system, makes operation fast and user friendly. Look at our

NAD AV Separates
Audio-Video separate components dene the height of AV reproduction. The NAD T175 AV
Tuner Preamp marries sophisticated performance to a most welcome simplicity of setup and
operation, while the 5-channel NAD T955 and 7-channel T975 power ampliers form the perfect
accompaniments. Together, our AV separates combine the exibility and up-to-the-minute digital
technology and connectivity to control even the most sophisticated home theatre and multi-
room system. Whether watching the latest lm or enjoying your most cherished music, you’ll be
immersed in detailed, convincing sound and pristine picture as never before.

It is performance rst that makes these components unmistakably
NAD. There’s no magic formula, but it begins by following our “Music
First” credo. NAD designs are shaped by dedicated professionals
such as Bjorn Erik Edvardsen, the company’s Director of Advanced
Development, whose reputation for innovative audio design is as
thoroughly established internationally as is NAD’s at large. Superior circuit
design, critical parts selection, and meticulous construction techniques
lead to superior performance, as does a design philosophy that values
concentrated, expert listening and viewing evaluations just as highly as
test-bench measurements. Today, when all too many manufacturers
seem content to deliver marketing-driven, unnecessarily feature-laden
“brochure performers,” and thus an ever-more complex user experience.
NAD chooses to pursue a path less followed. Our AV receivers and amp-
liers produce more usable, real-world power, so regardless of published

impact and pure, lifelike musicality. Our DVD players’ advanced digital-to-
analogue designs specify key converter-circuit components from the most
respected chipmakers, so they can reconstruct digital data more precisely,
and thus play digitally recorded sound and picture more convincingly.
If a component, a feature, or a control doesn’t legitimately contribute to
accurate, involving music and lmsound or pristine video quality, you
won’t nd it in an NAD. If it doesn’t demonstrably enhance accessibility,
convenience, or user-interface elegance, or genuinely add value and
enjoyment to the home entertainment experience, it will not be included.
We design our user interfaces, including control “software”, in order to
make NAD components as intuitive, uncluttered, and simple to use as
possible. Our goal? That NAD owners can spend their time enjoying music
or movies, instead of fussing with buttons or puzzling over manuals.

Music. Pure and Simple.
NAD C515BEE CD Player (top) & C315BEE Stereo Integrated Amplier
Reputations are earned through performance, not purchased with
marketing budgets. NAD’s reputation has been cultivated across three-
plus decades of unagging innovation, beginning with the iconic model
3020, the integrated amplier that captured the attention of serious
audiophiles and redened just what high-value performance could
mean. Today, NAD’s products reect our ongoing commitment to music
listening. They similarly reect NAD’s grasp of the fact that the over-
whelming majority of our customers’ musical enjoyment continues to
be derived from stereo recordings, and will continue doing so for the
foreseeable future.
Consequently, the NAD range of stereo components is no less ad-
vanced, and no less sonically compelling than our current AV models.
NAD’s component stereo ensemble enjoys advanced technology
and audio performance well beyond our original integrated amplifier.
While our designs have evolved, they maintain a durable thread to our
past: true value for our customers. NAD hi-fi components continue to
employ premium components at all sonically critical circuit locations,
to ensure the transparency and transient purity that all NAD owners
have come to expect. We also retain all-discrete-component amplifier
designs in all our models, rather than substituting the cheaper but
less desirable chip-based op-amp modules many of our competitors
exploit. NAD remains true to our pedigree by developing music
amplifiers that are purpose-designed, specifying high-current power
supplies for each model throughout our extended electronic family.
You enjoy the benefits.
NAD HiFi Music System
Is space a concern? It’s now possible to listen to all your favourite music, with true audio delity,
neatly presented in a single super-compact package: Introducing the NAD C715. The C715
integrates a rened, full-functioned CD player, sensitive, 30-preset FM/AM tuner (we also offer
the C715DAB, a DAB version available in markets with DAB), and the power and quality of an
NAD stereo receiver into a single uncomplicated unit. It may be a little larger than many mass-
market shelf systems, but the C715 is no “boom-box.” It frees you to select loudspeakers suited
to your taste, your room layout, and your demand for sonic performance, and with high quality
speakers it will deliver musical satisfaction that has left many a skeptical audiophile speechless.
Connections for outboard analogue and digital sources are located on both front and back
panels, making temporary hookups from portable devices or permanent system-expansions
easy—plus, a front panel USB port allows you to stream or record music les or Digital Radio
from virtually any portable-media device, a computer, or even a USB ash drive. You can also
set the C715 to turn on or off at a preset time, making it easy to wake up or fall asleep to music
of your choice. Combine this with its small footprint and many premium features and you have
the ideal music system for a small room, ofce or apartment.
NAD C715 CD Receiver
NAD HiFi Integrated Amplifiers
NAD has an enviable reputation for creating some of the most critically acclaimed, best
performing ampliers of all time—beginning with the legendary model 3020 three decades
ago. Today, with the exception of power output the four NAD stereo integrated ampliers
share much of their design, like their proprietary PowerDrive™ amplier circuitry assuring
high dynamic power and low impedance drive capability even with the most inefcient or
demanding loudspeakers. With this high dynamic power and their serious power supplies,
these ampliers sound “open”, “effortless” and “smooth” in a way that no other components
so affordable can equal, while their high peak current capabilities preserve the impact and
“rhythmic punch” of even the best recordings. The result? The atmosphere, energy, and soul
of the original performance is revealed in brilliant realism.
NAD C325BEE (top) & C355BEE Stereo Integrated Ampliers
NAD C525BEE CD Player (top) & C720BEE Stereo Receiver
It’s not surprising that today’s NAD stereo receivers, ampliers, and
music systems still produce dynamic impact beyond expectation and
out of all proportion to their power ratings. And just like that rst stereo
amplier some 30 years ago, NAD’s contemporary designs continue
our legacy of palpable, three-dimensional imaging and stunning trans-
parency, for sound that continues to astonish careful listeners—listeners
who value quality, dynamics, and denition above trendy features. Yet
the NAD stereo family is thoroughly modern, too, fully satisfying the
demands of digital audio, and incorporating versatile automation and
integration facilities such as 12-volt triggers and IR connectivity for
interfacing with advanced outboard system controllers. And while they
display ample sophistication, every NAD stereo component also retains
our rm’s unwavering commitment to simplicity and intuitive design.
Resolutely selecting top-quality internal components, and eschewing
design shortcuts in favour of rigorous proprietary engineering, NAD
puts forth no claim to be the cheapest. Only the best.
NAD Tuners
The C425 FM/AM tuner incorporates the convenience of RDS, plus infrared and RS-232 control
ports for easy integration with sophisticated custom-installation system controllers. The C445 tuner
combines the convenience of DAB, FM and AM in one component. Via the best broadcasters, DAB
can rival CD sound quality, so NAD deploys to the C445 the very same audiophile-grade D/A convert-
ers and op-amp components it uses in its award-winning CD players. Yet because we recognize that
analogue radio remains a vital source of music and information, the C445’s FM section is carefully
engineered to extract the best possible quality even under difcult reception conditions—both weak,
“fringe” environments and crowded urban locations. (C445 is not available in North America.)
NAD CD Players
NAD’s critically acclaimed, award-winning CD players set a new performance/value benchmark.
The C525BEE (the initials acknowledge our lead designer Bjorn Erik Edvardsen) combines the most
sophisticated available digital-to-analogue devices with costly, high-end analogue components such
as ultra-linear “op-amps,” metal-lm resistors, and polypropylene capacitors, to ensure superbly
accurate signal reconstruction and response. For its part, the C542 offers the system-integration
exibility of both IR and 12V-trigger inputs. In either case, while you could spend far, far more for
a high-performance CD player you’d have a very difcult time nding a more musically complete,
transparent-sounding player anywhere near their prices.

NAD HiFi Preamplifiers & Power Amplifiers
Performance, exibility, and reliability make these pre- and power ampliers ideal for more demanding
music, home theatre or professional studio applications. The C162 preamplier features six line inputs
with MM/MC switchable phono input for the most sophisticated vinyl buff. Following NAD’s “Music First”
design brief, the preamp’s completely new and innovative design invests in the nest audiophile-grade,
close-tolerance components at numerous critical circuit locations. The 2 x 150-watt C272 power amp in-
corporates NAD’s unique PowerDrive™ technology for high dynamic power with even the most difcult-
to-drive loudspeakers—and for still greater exibility the C272 is bridgeable to 300 watts mono.

PowerDrive™
NAD receivers and ampliers are well known for delivering amazing “real world” dynamic
power. NAD’s exclusive PowerDrive technology provides high dynamic power and low
impedance drive capability. PowerDrive’s “dual-rail” power supply delivers
optimised internal voltage levels especially during the most demanding
conditions: dynamic peaks, sweeping musical transients, deep-bass
excursions that drive a loudspeaker into its most power-hungry impedance
range. It’s a little like the “kickdown” of a sophisticated automatic transmission—providing
extra short-term power on demand. PowerDrive is one big reason why NAD AV receivers
do not exhibit the dynamic compression, attened imaging, or the strident
harshness audiophiles so often decry as “receiver sound.” PowerDrive not
only makes NAD receivers and ampliers sound better, it makes them cooler
running, with improved efciency, leading to greater reliability as well.
Full Disclosure Power Ratings
Power sells audio products, so many manufacturers tailor their designs to obtain the best
power ratings that can be contrived. In today’s digital world, with uncompressed signals and
multi-channel entertainment, these continuous power ratings drive designs that are inefcient,
hot, heavy and expensive to produce. Even worse, the sound quality of many such designs
can be thin, overly bright, and lacking in musical texture. And since the power produced is far
less than that “promised” when driving 5 or 7 loudspeakers, the dynamic power required for
the full intensity of an action movie scene or orchestral climax is simply not available.
NAD’s solution to this conundrum is to optimize our power supplies to drive real-world
loudspeakers effectively. This requires a precisely regulated, high current power supply
to be designed for each NAD amplier and receiver. Thus we can rate our
receivers with continuous 4 ohm loads, all channels driven simultaneously,
full bandwidth (20Hz - 20kHz), and at rated distortion. This is a far cry from the
NAD Soft Clipping™
Created by NAD engineers who understood that no matter how much real-
world power you give the people, someday, somewhere, someone will demand
more. It is all too easy to keep setting the volume higher without realizing just
how high you have turned it up. Switching in Soft Clipping will greatly reduce
commonly used FTC minimal requirement using 8 ohm dummy loads, and requiring no more
than two channels to be stressed at a time, and those at an easy 1 kHz frequency, with no
distortion specied!
Music or movie sound is not a uniform, unchanging signal such as continuous power
ratings would suggest. Rather, it is dynamic, occurring in bursts of varying durations and
constantly changing amplitudes. Unlike conventional ampliers, NAD’s “smart” dual-stage
power supplies are designed to handle the dynamic power required by today’s music
and lms more effectively. Furthermore, our amplier designs produce outstanding low
impedance drive capabilities, even when driving the most demanding loudspeakers in
a high-performance home theatre system. FDP is an important reason why
NAD components offer a valuable alternative to the over-hyped receivers and
ampliers on the market today.
the chance of damage. NAD’s patented selectable Soft Clipping circuit gently
transforms the music waveform as the point of distortion (clipping) approaches,
resulting in much clearer reproduction and possibly protecting your speakers
from damage, especially tweeters.
Audyssey Auto Setup and Room Calibration
ZONE
The Audyssey™ auto-setup and room calibration functions on NAD’s AV receivers and preamp
exploit today’s extraordinarily powerful yet affordable digital signal processing (DSP) to improve
real-world sound reproduction. Audyssey auto setup employs the supplied calibrated microphone;
simply locate the microphone at the listening position and engage the Audyssey system via a single
remote-control key. The AV receiver or preamp automatically detects the connected loudspeaker
layout, veries correct connections, selects ideal crossover points, and adjusts each speaker’s
level and delay with precision that would be difcult or impossible to duplicate by ear alone.
NAD’s proprietarily enhanced Audyssey MultEQ XT* technology, the latest in digital
sophistication, enables home theatres to sound the way they were intended in every seat by
removing the distortion caused by room acoustics. Using the calibration microphone to “hear”
your room, a series of test tones measure the speakers’ response and the room’s distorting
acoustic reections independently, and then calculates an ideal response that minimizes the
effects of these reections – Dialogue intelligibility is dramatically improved, precise imaging
and sound stage are enhanced and the accurate localization of instruments for musical balance
is optimised. While this sounds simple, the digital technology that is required for this level of
performance would have cost many thousands of dollars
just a few short years ago.
* Audyssey MultEQ XT available on the T785, T775 and T175.
Four Zone Control
A whole-house sound system allows you to easily enjoy your favourite music with
independent source and volume control in each room or zone. With control for as many
as three remote zones, NAD AV receivers allow you to listen, for example, to the radio
in one area, compact discs in another, and to enjoy your iPod
through your NAD system in a third. Or you can ll your home
with seamless sound that welcomes one and all. Your local NAD
audio/video specialist can make it all happen.
NAD Green & Eco Friendly
At NAD, we take our responsibilities to the planet very seriously: after all,
we live here too. NAD has already undertaken to mitigate our industrial
impact upon the environment, both by imposing strict measures in all our
product designs to eliminate questionable materials or processes, and by re-
engineering our factories and manufacturing practices to abolish or reduce
levels of environmentally undesirable substances. Our universal use of lead-
free solder throughout NAD manufacturing, and the re-design of our circuit-
board production to do away with certain chemical compounds are only two
examples. Today’s NAD products are created in the
most modern, “green” manufacturing facilities available
to us, and as our knowledge grows, and the techniques
of enviro-friendly manufacturing develop worldwide, we
will continue to pursue forward-thinking, environmentally
aware manufacturing.

NAD IPD-1 Dock for iPod
The NAD IPD-1 Dock is an easy and convenient way to enjoy all the music
and videos on your iPod® at home, with NAD quality. The NAD IPD-1 Dock
sends stereo audio signals via its gold plated RCA jacks to your NAD system
for playback over speakers with full quality; it also directs the video from an
iPod to your NAD AV receiver or directly to the TV. Just pop the iPod into the
IPD-1 (it also charges the iPod battery), and you get NAD-quality playback
and the convenience of controlling your iPod music library using your TV (for
display of your iPod’s music menus) from your NAD remote control.

NAD DB-1 DAB Module
Digital Audio Broadcasting offers no-charge, digital-quality programming to
numerous regions around the world. The NAD DB-1 compact module is a
simple, one-cable plug-and-play add-on that introduces digital broadcasting,
thoroughly integrated, into your NAD AV receiver or preamp’s source-list.
And since the best of DAB broadcasts can approach CD quality, it’s good
to know that the DB-1 is engineered to the same high standards as NAD’s
award-winning compact disc designs.
NAD PP-3 Digital Phono Preamplier
LP records may be an older technology, but they are far from dead. The
NAD PP-3 phono preamplier can turn any line-level input (AUX, TAPE,
etc.) into a very high performance phonograph input. The audiophile-grade
designed PP-3 is compatible with both conventional MM phono cartridges
and with high-end moving-coil designs. The PP-3 also incorporates a
similarly high quality analogue/digital converter, output via a USB port.
Connect this to a computer or other digital-recording device, and you can
easily archive your precious LP collection to compact disc, MP3 les, or
whatever digital format you choose.
Specications are measured in accordance with EIA Standard RS-490 (IHF A-202) for ampliers. Amplier measurements referenced to 8Ω are taken with the Impedance Select set at 8Ω (High). Measurements for 4Ω and 2Ω are taken with the Impendance Select set at 4Ω (Normal). Dimensions are of unit’s cabinets without attached feet; add up to 18mm for total height. Dimension depth excludes terminals, sockets, controls and buttons.

NAD Learning Remote Controls
The ergonomic HTR-M and HTR-3 universal learning remote controls are an
engineering tour-de-force. Both are able to control up to 8 different components
with illuminated buttons for easy operation in low light environments. The
HTR-M features an illuminated LCD screen that clearly shows what device is
selected and what command is being sent. Its macro function allows as many
as 64 individual commands to be triggered by pressing just two keys so all of
the commands required for watching a DVD, for example, can be executed
automatically. Either remote control can even be programmed using a PC,
thanks to their built-in serial data connections.
