MUSTEK CURES “ARE WE THERE YET?” SYNDROME
WITH NEW DUAL SCREEN MOBILE DVD PLAYER
NEW YORK, NY (October 13, 2005) — It starts with a slow, painful whine. A restlessness that grows with every passing mile. Until finally the question is asked... over and over and over again.
While the medical profession has yet to officially identify this disorder most parents know it as A.W.T.Y. or “Are We There Yet?” syndrome.
Thankfully, there is now a cure for A.W.T.Y. from Mustek USA. It comes in the form of the affordable PL1070D ($299), an ultra-compact portable DVD player featuring a set of dual 7-inch TFT LCD tablet-style screens that mount directly to the vehicle’s seat headrests. This design allows the backseat brigade to enjoy hours of their favorite DVD movies, Kodak® Photo CDs, and music files. Best of all, when the car finally does get “there,” the PL1070D can be easily removed from its mount and brought into a hotel room, vacation home, boat or wherever the road takes you.

“The PL1070D ‘s dual screens are perfect for setting up so that everyone in the backseat can see the big picture. You can also mount one screen in the front and one in the back, allowing the whole car to watch a movie,” notes Bill Nguyen, Director of Marketing, Mustek USA. “Mustek USA. “Parents will find that the hours and miles pass much more pleasantly with the PL1070D in action. It is great for family vacations, road trips with friends, even for adding some needed excitement to business presentations.”
Unlike other portable entertainment systems with dual screens, the Mustek PL1070D does not have a separate DVD player that can be lost, broken or shift during driving. Instead, the progressive-scan DVD player is integrated into one of the two screen tablets, making it easier and safer for the PL1070D to mount in a car. This unique design also permits the DVD player unit to be used separate from its slave LCD on an airplane, at home or when riding a commuter train. Antishock protection is built into each unit for a clear, static-free picture on bumpy roads.
Combining Mustek’s signature style and convenience, the PL1070D’s eyecatching tablet 16:9 aspect ratio screens are amazingly thin (1.1 inches), an especially helpful feature in cars crammed with luggage, kids and the family dog. And although compact, they are big on features such as DivX and MPEG-4 readability, support for digital coaxial output and Dolby® Digital Output, a built-in reader slot for MMC/SD cards, USB 1.1 host controller, A/V and S-Video outputs for connecting directly to a television, and an L-Type stand for more comfortable viewing from any angle. Surround-sound dual stereo speakers on each tablet make the cinematic DVD entertainment complete.
The DVD player is compatible with just about any entertainment media available today, including DVD/DVD+R/RW, CD/CD-R/RW, JPEG and Kodak® Picture CDs to maximize the fun.
