Transporting the machine
•   Two or more people should carry the machine. Before transporting the machine, be  sure to check that you disconnect the plug from the outlet and remove the line cable.  Otherwise, the damaged cable can cause fire, electrical shock or malfunction.
•   Before transporting the machine, remove the toner cartridge (or toner bottle).
•
When transporting the machine, support the parts shown in the figure below. When you  lift up the machine, be sure to bend your knees sufficiently so as not to damage your back.
•   After you install the machine on the cabinet, secure the machine with stoppers to  prevent it from moving. Otherwise, the machine may move in an unexpected direction,  potentially causing injury.
Consumables
•   Do not burn toner cartridges. Exposure to an open flame can cause the toner cartridge  to burn or explode, causing serious injury.
•  Please dispose of used toner and drum cartridges in accordance with local regulations.
•   Keep toner and other consumables out of the reach of small children. If a child should  ingest toner, consult a physician immediately.
IMPORTANT
•   Do not store the toner cartridge (or toner bottle), drum cartridge (or drum unit) or  paper in any of the following places:
  • Places exposed to fire
  • Places exposed to direct sunlight
  • Places subject to high temperature and/or high humidity
  • Places subject to rapid temperature changes
  • Dusty areas
  • Inside a car, left for a long time
•   Do not directly touch the photoreceptor surface of the drum cartridge (or drum  unit), or expose it to direct sunlight. This could cause defects in printing quality.
•   To prevent caking in the toner, never stand the cartridge on its end and do not store  it up side down.
•   Never attempt to disassemble a toner cartridge or attempt to refill it.
•   Do not remove the cartridge from its protective bag until you are ready to install it.
•   Handle the cartridges with care. Do not subject it to shock or vibrations.

Main Features
Useful operation functions
“Partial Touch Panel Display” with backlighting
The partial touch panel has been placed at the bottom of the large LCD,  which easily displays each function setting or operational steps. You can  directly touch the screen and operate fax transmission settings or paper size  settings for copying, etc. Equipped with backlighting, you can easily operate  the panel in a dark place.
Voice guidance
The MFX-2700 and MFX-2200 give you audio guidance on how to enter  speed dials or clear paper jams. You can easily finish a complicated operation  based on instructions from the voice guidance (page 1-22).
Security function
The MFX-2700 and MFX-2200 are equipped with functions to improve  security, including “Security reception” and the “Dial double-push” function.  By entering a protected passcode, “Security reception” allows you to set it  so that fax documents received after a specified time are not printed. If a  fax number is entered twice using the numeric keys, the “Dial double-push”  function prevents entry of a wrong number (page 6-1).
Energy save mode (Low power mode & Sleep mode)
The energy save mode reduces power consumption. When you do not operate  the machine for a while, the machine automatically switches to low power  mode. If you do not operate for several minutes after that, the machine  switches to the sleep mode to further reduce power consumption (page 1-21).
Soft keys
You can assign ON/OFF settings for frequently-used functions to “Soft keys”. After registration, you can set ON or OFF for the desired functions through  one-touch (page 8-50).
Macro keys
You can program operational steps for frequently-used functions as “Macro”  keys. After registration, you can perform a series of key operations through onetouch (page 8-43).

Useful fax functions
Super G3 & JBIG, high-speed document scanning & quick memory transmission functions
The built-in 33.6Kbps fax modem based on ITU-T (The ITU  Telecommunication Standardization Sector) V.34 allows for the Super G3  communication, which enables ultrahigh-speed transmission between 2 and  3 seconds on a general phone line. Furthermore, a new standard compression  format JBIG has been adopted. You can even send photo documents at  ultrahigh speed. A4 size documents can be scanned in only 2 seconds per sheet. Furthermore,  you can start transmitting documents immediately after they are scanned.  Therefore, you can reduce the total working time by a great deal, especially  when you transmit a large volume of documents.
Rotate transmission/reception
If the document direction is different from the paper direction, the document  image will be automatically rotated 90 degrees and printed according to  the direction of the
paper. In addition, a saved document will be rotated 90  degrees and transmitted. You can transmit regardless of the paper size or  document direction of other fax machines.
Super triple access function
You can register each operation or subsequent transmission even if MFP  is in operation for such things as memory transmission/reception, or copy  printing.
Fax forwarding function
You can forward documents (faxes) received within a preset time to a  specified destination. For example, you can avoid missing or ruining business opportunities,  because you can receive documents transmitted to your office when you are  out, in a remote place, or at home (page 4-44).
Transmission Confirmation Report
You can automatically print the transmission results for checking if you  succeed in transmitting to the other party. You can set whether the transmission confirmation report is printed after  every transmission or on a temporary basis (page 3-42).

Useful copy functions
High-speed, high-resolution copy
High-speed copying of 27 sheets/min. (MFX-2700)/22 sheets/min. (MFX-2200)  is available (when using A4
paper). A high resolution of 600 dpi allows for
exact reproduction of fine lines and/or text.
Sort copy
More than one copy can be automatically sorted (page 2-15).
Zoom copy
You can enlarge or reduce a document and copy (25% to 400%) (page 2-11).
Combine copy
Multi-page documents can be scanned and reduced respectively, then  combined onto a single sheet for printing (page 2-17).
Scanning duplex documents
Duplex (double-sided) documents can be scanned.
Interrupt copy
You can interrupt the current job to make another copy. This function is  useful when you urgently need to make another copy.
Copy reservation
Another document can be loaded and reserved for copying even while  printing is in progress. When the current printing is completed, the copying  of the next job will start immediately, meaning no wasted downtime!
Rotate copy
A scanned image can be rotated 90 degrees and copied according to the  paper direction.

Introducing useful optional products
OfficeBridge
The “PC-Fax function” allows you to specify a fax number on your PC display  and transmit a document created on your PC, or to check a received fax  document on your PC without printing. The “Network Scanner function”  allows you to store a scanned document in a file format (including PDF).  OfficeBridge is the all-in-one package that allows you to better expand  various network functions, such as the network printer function, or Internet  Fax function. You can view and manage stored documents on the web  browser on your network, which makes for a paperless office.
Paper cassette
500 sheets of paper (70g/m2) can be loaded. You can expand the paper supply unit up to 4 levels.

Loading Paper
Precautions when loading paper
Be careful not to get your hands cut by the edge of paper.
• When paper is curled, flatten it out before loading.
• Load paper so that it does not go higher than the paper upper limit (mark ) or exceed the specified number of sheets.
If you load paper higher than the paper upper limit (mark
), it may cause a
paper jam.
>PET<
• Align the paper guide securely against the edge of loaded paper.
If the paper guide isn't fitted to the paper size, a paper jam may occur.
• If paper remains in the paper cassette when you wish to load new paper, take it out and combine it with the new paper. Tap the paper well and load it with the edges aligned.
