Prevention of accidents at home
For a child, even a slight burn may sometimes be serious.
As they grow up, teach your children to be careful around hot appliances in the kitchen.
If you do use your appliance in the company of children:
• always use it under adult supervision;
• never touch the hot surfaces of the appliance;
• never leave the appliance unattended when plugged in or in use.
If an accident occurs, rinse the burn
immediately with cold water and call a doctor if necessary.
Connection, switching on and pre-heating
Close the appliance. Fully unroll the electrical cord.
Check that the electrical installation is compatible with the wattage and voltage stated on the bottom of the appliance.
Only plug the appliance into an earthed socket.
If an extension cord is used:
- it must be with an incorporated earth connection;
- take every precaution to ensure that people cannot become caught up in it.
If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
Plug the electrical cord into the wall socket: the red light comes on.
When using for the first time, a slight odour or small amount of smoke may be given off; this is normal.
Leave the appliance to pre-heat: the green light comes on when the correct cooking temperature is reached.

Installation
Place the appliance on a stable surface: avoid using the appliance on supple surfaces such as rubber table pads.
Never place your appliance directly on a delicate surface (glass-top table, table cloth, varnished furniture, etc.).
Do not place the appliance on or near slippery or hot surfaces, nor leave the electrical cord over a source of heat (hotplates, gas cookers, etc.).
Open the appliance. Remove all packaging, stickers or various
accessories from the interior and exterior of the appliance.
Before using for the first time, pour some cooking oil onto the non-stick plates. Spread the oil evenly over the plates using kitchen towel, then wipe off any surplus oil.
Prepare the sandwiches, using two slices of bread but with the butter on the outside surface of the bread. Place the sandwiches or meat on the plates and close the appliance. Leave to cook according to the desired degree of cooking or to taste.
During cooking, it is normal for the green light to go on and off.
Do not touch the hot surfaces of the appliance: use the handles.
