Your service provider programs one or more

your phone. Provided that the phone is switched on
and in network coverage, you can make emergency
calls using the programmed numbers, even when
your phone is locked or the SIM card is not inserted
(where allowed by the network operator).
Note: Check with your service provider, as
emergency numbers vary by country. Your phone’s
pre-programmed emergency number(s) may not work
in all locations, and sometimes an emergency call
cannot be placed due to network, environmental, or
interference issues. Do not solely rely on your
wireless phone for essential communications, such
as medical emergencies.

To use the music player, insert a microSD memory
card, which is an optional accessory.
Your phone can play songs in the iMelody, MIDI and
MP3 file formats. Your phone cannot play WMA, AAC,
AAC+, AAC++ files, or MP3 files with a bit rate higher
than 320 kbps.

SAR
Your model wireless phone meets the governmental requirements for
exposure to radio waves.
Your mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed and manufactured to not
exceed limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy set by the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) of the U.S. Government and by the Canadian regulatory authorities. These limits
are part of comprehensive guidelines and establish permitted levels of RF energy for the general
population. The guidelines are based on standards that were developed by independent scientific
organizations through periodic and thorough evaluation of scientific studies. The standards
include a substantial safety margin designed for the safety of all persons, regardless of age or
health, and to account for any variations in measurements.
The exposure standard for mobile devices employs a unit of measurement known as the Specific
Absorption Rate (SAR). The SAR limit set by the FCC and by the Canadian regulatory authorities is
1.6 watts per kilogram (W/kg), averaged over one gram of tissue. Tests for SAR are conducted
using procedures accepted by the FCC and by Industry Canada with the mobile device transmitting
at its highest certified power level in all tested frequencies. Although the SAR is determined at
the highest certified power level, the actual SAR level of the mobile device while operating can be
below the maximum value. This is because the mobile device is designed to operate at multiple
power levels so as to use only the power required to reach the network. In general, the closer you
are to a wireless base station, the lower the power output.
Before a mobile device is available for sale to the public in the U.S. and Canada, it must be tested
and certified to the FCC and Industry Canada that it does not exceed the limit established by each
government for safe exposure. The tests are performed in positions and locations (e.g., at the ear
and worn on the body) submitted to the FCC and available for review by Industry Canada. The
highest SAR value for this mobile device when tested for use at the ear is 1.26 W/kg, and when
worn on the body, as described in this guide, is 1.58 W/kg. The SAR value for this mobile device in
its data transmission mode (body-worn use) is 0.70 W/kg. Body-worn measurements can differ,
depending upon available accessories and regulatory requirements. The SAR information includes
the Motorola testing protocol, assessment procedure, and measurement uncertainty range for this
product.
While there may be differences between the SAR levels of various mobile devices and at various
positions, they meet the governmental requirements for safe exposure. Please note that
improvements to this product model could cause differences in the SAR value for later products; in
all cases, products are designed to be within the guidelines.

Exposure to Radio Frequency (RF) Energy
Your mobile device contains a transmitter and receiver. When it is ON, it receives and transmits RF
energy. When you communicate with your mobile device, the system handling your call controls
the power level at which your mobile device transmits.
Your mobile device is designed to comply with local regulatory requirements in your country
concerning exposure of human beings to RF energy.
Operational Precautions
For optimal mobile device performance, and to be sure that human exposure to RF energy does not

RF Energy Interference/Compatibility
Nearly every electronic device is subject to RF energy interference from external sources if
inadequately shielded, designed, or otherwise configured for RF energy compatibility. In some
circumstances your mobile device may cause interference with other devices.
Follow Instructions to Avoid Interference Problems
Turn off your mobile device in any location where posted notices instruct you to do so.
In an aircraft, turn off your mobile device whenever instructed to do so by airline staff. If your

Potentially Explosive Atmospheres
Areas with potentially explosive atmospheres are often, but not always, posted and can include

areas where the air contains chemicals or particles, such as grain dust, or metal powders.
When you are in such an area, turn off your mobile device, and do not remove, install, or charge
batteries. In such areas, sparks can occur and cause an explosion or fire.

Glass Parts

Seizures/Blackouts
Some people may be susceptible to epileptic seizures or blackouts when exposed to flashing

please consult with your physician before playing video games or enabling a flashing-lights
feature (if available) on your mobile device.
Discontinue use and consult a physician if any of the following symptoms occur: convulsion, eye or
muscle twitching, loss of awareness, involuntary movements, or disorientation. It is always a good
idea to hold the screen away from your eyes, leave the lights on in the room, take a 15-minute
break every hour, and stop use if you are tired.
Caution About High Volume Usage
Warning:
Exposure to loud noise from any source for extended periods of time
may affect your hearing. The louder the volume sound level, the less time is
required before your hearing could be affected. To protect your hearing:

Limit the amount of time you use headsets or headphones at high volume.

Avoid turning up the volume to block out noisy surroundings.

Hearing Aid Compatibility with Mobile
Phones
Hearing Aids
Some Motorola phones are measured for compatibility with hearing aids. If the box for your
particular model has “Rated for Hearing Aids” printed on it, the following explanation applies.
When some mobile phones are used near some hearing devices (hearing aids and cochlear
implants), users may detect a buzzing, humming, or whining noise. Some hearing devices are more
immune than others to this interference noise, and phones also vary in the amount of interference
they generate.
The wireless telephone industry has developed ratings for some of their mobile phones, to assist
hearing device users in finding phones that may be compatible with their hearing devices. Not all
phones have been rated. Phones that are rated have the rating on their box or a label on the box.
The ratings are not guarantees. Results will vary depending on the user’s hearing device and
hearing loss. If your hearing device happens to be vulnerable to interference, you may not be able
to use a rated phone successfully. Trying out the phone with your hearing device is the best way to
evaluate it for your personal needs.
M-Ratings:
Phones rated M3 or M4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to generate less
interference to hearing devices than phones that are not labeled. M4 is the better/higher of the
two ratings.
T-Ratings:
Phones rated T3 or T4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to be more usable with a
hearing device’s telecoil (“T Switch” or “Telephone Switch”) than unrated phones. T4 is the better/
higher of the two ratings. (Note that not all hearing devices have telecoils in them.)
Hearing devices may also be measured for immunity to this type of interference. Your hearing
device manufacturer or hearing health professional may help you find results for your hearing
device. The more immune your hearing aid is, the less likely you are to experience interference
noise from mobile phones.
