Subject: P06 Flex / J700 Clamping Issue
Model Affected: V8088 / V51
Level of Repair: 2
Problem
Italy Service Organisation has highlighted a new issue relating to No or Intermittent Display returns on
the P06 flex circuit (Reference FSB EI0283). It has been noted that flip assembly replacement for display
related complaints, for units containing P06 flexes, are not 100% effective. Samples of these “bounce”
repairs were root caused analysed at Singapore PSE where the following issue was identified:
Poor or no contact of flex tail in J700 is due to insufficient clamping action of the J700 connector onto
the flex circuit tail causing intermittent operation of the display.
Solution
Manufacturing made a running change to the rear housing assembly from 14th October 2002. A poron
pad was fitted on the back housing (See Photo 1 below) to ensure a good contact of the J700 clamp
even under "heavy" utilisation conditions where there are multiple open & close cycles of the flip.
