Activate your phone
The first time you turn on your phone, a setup wizard guides you through the process of
activating the phone.
1 Press and holdPower (on the side of your phone) to turn it on.
2 Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the activation process.
3 After y ou have completed the s etup wizard, make a phone call to
confirm your activation.
Caution: Do not press Power while the phone is being activated.
Pressing Power cancels the activation process.
Note: This phone s upport s data-inten siv e apps and s ervices. It is stro ngly
recommended that you purchase a data plan that me ets your needs. Contact Virgi n Mobile USA

Your touchscreen is on when yo u need it and off when y ou don’t.
• To make your touchscreen sleep or wake up, just press Power .
• When you hold the phone to your ear during calls, your touchscreen sleeps to prevent
accidental touches.
• To cha nge how long your phone waits before the screen goes to sleep automatically, touch
Menu >
• To make the screen l ock when it goes to sleep, see “Security” on page 33. To unlock the
screen, press Power , then drag to the right.
Note: Your touchscreen might stay dark i f the sensor just above
it is covered. Don't use covers or screen protectors (even clear

To save y our battery, prevent accidental touche s, or when you want to
wipe smudges off your touc hscreen, put the touchscreen to sleep by
pressing Power . To wake up the touchscreen, just press Power
again.

Quick start: Home screen
The home screen gives you all your la test information in one place. It’s what you see when you
turn on the phone or touch Home from a menu. It’s basically like this:

Widgets
A widget is small app on the home screen that typically displays information such as weather or
news. You ca n add a widget, suc h as a clock, music pl ayer, or a calendar that sh ows upcoming
appointments. To open a widget, touch it.
To add a widget, touch an empty s pot on the home screen. (You can also touch Menu >
Widgets
>
delete widgets or shortcuts to make room.
You can change the size of some widgets. Just touch and hold the widget. When the widget’s
outline turns white, drag one of the corners to make it the size you want.
Note: If you install apps from Android Market™ that have widgets, touch and hold the home
screen, then select a widget to add it to the home screen.

Emergency calls
Note: Virgin Mobile USA programs one or more emergency phone numbers (such as 911) that
you can call under any circumstances, even when your phone is locked. Emergency numbers
vary by country. Your pre-programmed emergency number(s) may not work in all locations , and
sometimes an emergency call cannot be placed due to network, environmental, or interference
issues.
1 Touch (if your phone is locked, touch

Cool down
In very limited circumstances, such as where y our phone has been exposed to extreme heat,
“Cool Down ” message scre ens will appea r. To av oid pos sible damage to your battery and phone,
you should follow these instructio ns until the phone is within its recommended temperature
range. When your phone is in “Cool Down” mode, only emergency calls can be made.
