Apps are great. There's something for everyone. Play,
communicate, work, or just for fun. But remember,
choose your apps carefully. Here's a few tips to help:
• To help prevent spyware, phishing, or viruses
affecting your phone or privacy, use apps from
trusted sites, like
• In
Market, check the apps’ ratings and comments
before installing. This will help you choose the best
ones for you.

• If you doubt the safety of an app, don't inst all it.
• Like all apps, downloaded apps will use up memory ,
data, battery, and processing power—some more
than others. For example, a simple settings widget
will use less than a streaming music player app.
After installi ng an app, if you're not happ y with how
much memory, data, battery, or processing power
it's using, uninstall it. You can always install it again
later.

Specific Absorption Rate (IEEE)
SAR (IEEE)
Your model wireless phone meets the governmental
requirements for exposure to radio waves.
Your mobi l e devi c e i s a radi o trans m i tter and receiver. It is designed and manufactured to
not exceed limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy se t by the F ederal
Communications Co m m iss i on ( FCC ) of the U. S. Gov ernment and by the Canadian
regulatory authorities. These limits are part of comprehe nsi ve gui del i nes and establish
permitted levels of RF ene rgy for the general population. The gu id el in es are based on
standards that were devel oped by independent scientific organizations throug h peri odic
and thorough evalua tio n of s cien ti f ic studi es . The standards include a substa nti al sa fety
margin designed for the safety of all persons, regardless of age or health, and to account
for any variations i n measurements.
The exposure standard for mobile devices employs a unit of m eas urement known as the
Specific Absorption Rate (SAR). The IEEE SAR limit set by the F C C and by the C anadian
regulatory authoritie s is 1.6watts per kilogram (W/kg), av eraged over one gram of tissue.
Tests for S A R ar e co nducted using procedures accepted by the FCC and by Industry
Canada with the mobile dev i ce trans m i tti ng at i ts highes t c ertifi ed power level in all
tested frequencies. Although the SAR is determined at the highest certified power level,
the actual SAR level of the mob ile device while operating can be below the maximum
value. This is be cause the mobil e devi ce is design ed to o pera te at multi ple p ower levels so
as to use only the pow er required to reach the network. In general, the close r you are to a
wireless base station, the low er the power output.
Before a mobile devi ce is availabl e for s ale to t he publ ic in t he U.S . and Ca nad a, it mu st be
tested and certified to the FCC an d In dus try C anada that it does not exceed the limit

established by each government for safe exposure. The tests are performed in positions
and locations (e.g., at the ear and worn on the body) submitted t o the FC C and available
for review by Industry Canada. The highest SAR value for this mobi l e dev i c e w hen tes ted
for use at the ear is 1.09W/kg, and when worn on the body, as described in this guide, is
1.19W/kg. Body-worn measurements can differ, depending upon available accessories
and regulatory re qui rem ents. The SAR information includes the Motorola testing protocol,
assessment procedure, and measurement uncertainty range for this product.
While there may be differe nces between the SAR levels of various mobile devices and at
various positions, they me et the go v ernm ental requirements for safe exposure. Please
note that improvem ents to thi s prod uct mod el could c aus e differenc es in the SAR value for
later products; in all cases, products are designed to be within the guidelines.

Hearing Aid Compatibility
Some Motorola phones are measured for compatibilit y with hearing aids. If the box for
your particular model has “Rat ed fo r Hearing Aids ” printed on it, the fo llowi ng expl anati on
applies.
When some mo bile ph one s are us ed n ear some h ear ing d evices (hea ring aid s and coch lear

are more immune than oth ers to thi s inte rference noise, and phones also vary in the
amount of interference they generate.
The wireless telephone industry has de velope d ratings fo r some of the ir mob ile phone s, to
assist hearing device users i n findi ng phones that may be compatible with their hearing
devices. Not all phones ha v e been rated. Phones that are rated have the rating on their

The ratings are not guaran tees . Re s ult s wil l vary dep ending on the user’s hearing device

not be able to use a rated phon e suc c ess ful l y. Trying out the phone with y our hearing
device is the best way to evalu ate i t f or your personal needs.
M-Ratings:
Phones rated M3 or M4 meet FCC requirements and are likel y to generate
less interference to hearing devices than phones that are no t la bel ed. M4 is the
better/higher of the two rat ings .
T-R atings:
Phones rated T3 or T4 meet FCC requi reme nts and are lik ely to be more us able
with a hearing device’s telecoil (“T Switch” or “Telephone Switch”) than unrated phones .
T4 is the better/hi gher of the two ratings. (Note that not al l hearing devices have tel ecoils
