Subject: CDMA T7xxc Hang-Up Cup for Pro-Install Car Kits
Model Affected: All CDMA T720c, T730c, T731c, T732c HUCs
Level of Repair: All
Problem
Service is aware of a problem with the Hang-Up Cup (HUC) for the CDMA T7xx series
phones. If the user allows the phone to self-align when inserting into the HUC, the RF
Connector on the HUC could cause damage to the RF Connector (J10) on the CDMA
T7xx series phone. This results in complaints of “No Service when removed from Car
Kit”.

Solution
Design changes have been made to the HUC to avoid damage to the RF Connector
during insertion. The mating angle of the RF Connectors has been changed so that the
connectors will better align at initial contact, thus preventing damage to J10.

Service Action
Customer Returns:
Level 1 and 2. When a customer complains of “No Service” or “Poor Service” on a
CDMA T7xx series phone, inspect J10 immediately. If J10 is damaged, determine if the
unit is used with a Pro-Install Car Kit. Make arrangements with the customer for
replacement of the HUC with the new version (See Table 1), and send the phone to a
Level 3 (or higher) facility for repair.
Level 3 (or higher). When a customer complains of “No Service” or “Poor Service” on
a CDMA T7xx series phone, inspect J10 immediately. Replace J10 if it is damaged. If
the phone is used with a Pro-Install Car Kit, in addition to replacing J10, also replace the
customer’s HUC with the new version (See Table 1).
Service Inventory:
Use old parts (See Table 1) to depletion on GSM products. Please use only new parts
with CDMA products.
