Overview
The MVX1000 System is an advanced video recording system intended for law enforcement patrol and
surveillance activities (see Figure 1-1). The system collects video evidence, enables reviewing and managing the
video incidents and adding metadata evidence files (data retrieved by the in-car system or entered by the officer
during operation).
The in-car MVX1000 system consists of the MVX1000 Unit, Mobile Computer or a LCD Control Head running a
user interface application, Cameras, Wired Microphones, Wireless Microphones and other components installed
inside the vehicle (see In-car MVX1000 System Components on page 1-3). Using a combination of automatic and
manual functions, the officer operates the in-car system to document law enforcement incidents and other dynamic
policing situations.
The Data Transfer System is generally installed in a garage or external parking place of a Back Office Facility
where the agency vehicles are parked. Video and metadata evidence files recorded by the in-car MVX1000
System are transferred automatically or manually over wire, wireless Local Area Network (LAN) connection or
Wide Wireless Area Network to a Back Office Server through a Wire/Wireless Access Point/Cellular radio or a
Manual Upload Station for processing the evidence.
The Back Office Server, located in a precinct, headquarters or station facility, consists of computer hardware and
software tools for performing data management functions quickly and efficiently and exports the evidence on a
media such as DVD to be presented in court.
