Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the Motorola homesight™ Wireless Temperature Sensor. This device
senses temperature changes ranging between 14 º and 104 ºF (-10 º to 40 ºC). The immersible External
Temperature Probe extends the range of the temperature monitored to -40 º to 140 ºF (-40 º to 60 ºC). This
Quick Start Guide describes how to set up and troubleshoot your Temperature Sensor.
Controlling Your Sensor
Using your computer and the Wireless System Controller, you locally manage your home environment with
the Motorola homesight System. When configured, the system can notify you of any new events by sending
an e-mail when your Temperature Sensor detects an event (a temperature change) that moves beyond the
limits you specify.
How It Works
The sensor monitors ambient temperature, and, if the temperature moves beyond your set temperature
range, it sends an event to your Wireless System Controller. When the External Temperature Probe is
connected to the Temperature Sensor, the internal sensor element is disabled.

Installation Hints
Please consider the following points when mounting the sensor:
• The homesight Wireless Temperature Sensor is constructed of UV-resistant ABS plastic. Do not install the
sensor where it is subjected directly to the elements.
• This device’s communication range is up to 60 feet (18 m) from the Wireless System Controller in a typical
home, depending on the number of obstacles. These can include metal framing, thick walls, and other
wireless devices operating at 418 MHz. It is recommended that different positions be tried for optimal
results.
