Continuously Variable Transmission

One of the smoothest, most ecient drivetrains
available, a Continuously Variable Transmission
(CVT) operates on a pulley system that allows
infinite variability between the highest and
lowest ratios. Instead of shifting gears, it adapts
to changing vehicle speeds and keeps the
engine ecient, while improving fuel economy.

Magnesium Paddle Shifters

Available w it h our CVT are rally-inspired
magnesium paddle shifters that oer
real hands-on performance. Because the
lightweight paddles are made of magnesium
— a metal less dense than aluminum — they
stay cool, even when outside temperatures
reach triple digits. Simply pull the right paddle
to upshift and the left to downshift.

Electric Power Steering

Less is, indeed, more. Without the constant
burden of a belt-driven hydraulic pump, the
engine is able to achieve better fuel eciency.
When the driver turns the steering wheel,
the Electric Power Steering system evaluates
factors such as rate of rotation, position, and
vehicle speed to determine the amount of
steering assist needed.

All-Wheel Control

Sheer power with steady handling. All­Wheel Control combines an electronically
controlled 4WD system with Active Stability
control and transfers power to all four
wheels. The AWC switch with multi-mode
electronic center coupler (2WD/4WD/
LOCK) gives the vehicle superior driving
performance and enhanced traction under
various road conditions.

2.0L MIVEC Engine

Standard on the DE and ES, Lancer’s base
engine is an aluminum-block, dual overhead
cam, 16-valve engine producing 148-horsepower
and 145 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2.0-liter features
Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-timing Electronic
Control technology (MIVEC). MIVEC varies
the engine’s breathing to achieve more torque,
lower emissions and better fuel economy.

*Only available on DE, ES 2.0L engine.

2.4L MIVEC Engine

Standard on the Lancer SE and GT, the

2.4-liter engine is also an aluminum-block
engine with dual overhead cams, 16 valves
and MIVEC. This “long-stroke” engine
produces 168-horsepower and 167 lb.-ft. of
torque. With a balanced torque to horsepower
ratio, the responsive 2.4-liter engine provides
quick and confident daily driving power.

Brake Energy Regeneration System

In most cars, the engine is burdened with the
task of driving an alternator, which in turn
charges the battery. This system’s smart
alternator captures kinetic energy during
deceleration and converts it into electric
energy.* With the regenerative system
keeping the battery charged, the engine
doesn’t have to, thereby improving gas mileage.

Turboc harge d Engine

The power within Lancer Ralliart springs from
a 2.0-liter single-scroll turbocharged engine
producing 237-horsepower @ 6,000 rpm. Its
strongest suit, however, is torque. A mighty
253 lb.-ft. is on tap as early as 2,500 rpm
and keeps cranking through 4,750 rpm.
To go with the increase in power, Ralliart
gets a larger front stabilizer bar and firmer
springs and dampers to keep body roll
under control.

Twin Clutch Transmission

Lancer Ralliart’s drivetrain is both mighty
and mannerly. Full-Time AWC with Active
Center Dierential features front helical and
rear mechanical limited-slip dierentials.
The system is mated to a standard Twin­Clutch SST “automated manual” transmission
utilizing two clutches to achieve the eciency
of a manual gearbox while allowing smooth,
ultrafast shifting.

All-Wheel Control

Taking action on traction. Combining a full­time 4WD system with our Active Stability
and Traction Control system, All-Wheel
Control regulates drive torque from front­to-rear with a network of dynamic handling
technologies. The result: Enhanced driving
performance and traction under a variety
of road conditions.

addition to locating the battery in the rear,
forming the front fenders, hood and roof*
from lightweight aluminum lowers the center
of gravity, improves weight distribution and
reduces polar inertia.

Super All-Wheel Control

This advanced system is actually a series
of technologies working in harmony. Active
Yaw Control (AYC) distributes engine torque
between the left and right rear wheels,
while the Active Center Dierential (ACD)
distributes engine torque between the front
and rear axles. Active Stability Control (ASC)
helps keep the vehicle on the intended
path when cornering, and Sport ABS with
Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
improves control during hard braking.

of technology. With an all-aluminum block, it
sports dual overhead cams, 16 valves and the
eciency of MIVEC. What really sets it apart
is an advanced twin-scroll turbocharger.
The two scrolls allow for ecient exhaust
flow from the cylinders, helping to create
quick, reliable boost through the full range of
operation. To help handle the turbo boost, the
engine’s been strengthened with a semiclosed
deck and four-bolt main bearing caps. With
291-horsepower @ 6,500 rpm and 300 lb.-ft.
of torque @ 4,000 rpm, Lancer Evolution is
definitely built for speed.

Twin Clutch-SST

The key to performance is the ecient transfer
of power to the pavement, and nothing does
the job quite like our Twin-Clutch Sportronic
Shift Transmission (TC-SST). This “automated
manual” transmission utilizes two clutches to
achieve the eciency of a manual gearbox
while allowing smooth, ultrafast shifting. With
three shift modes available through a console­mounted switch, the TC-SST allows full power
delivery during upshifts and rev matching on
downshifts. If you prefer shifting manually you
can do that too, either with the shifter or with
the magnesium paddle shifters mounted on the
steering column.

Race-Ready Brakes

Evolution MR’s racing-inspired Brembo® brakes
feature 2-piece rotors with aluminum rotor hats.

One of the most significant advancements
ever developed, Active Stability Control and
Traction Control help drivers maintain control
in adverse conditions and during emergency
maneuvers. Sensors monitor traction and
work with the anti-lock braking system to
