Important Safety Information
Disposable Battery Safety
Improper use of batteries may result in battery uid leakage, overheating, or explosion. There is a risk of re if batteries are replaced by an incorrect type. Released battery uid is corrosive and may be toxic. It can
cause skin and eye burns, and is harmful if swall owed. To reduce the risk of injury:
● Keep batteries out of reach of children.
● Do not heat, open, puncture, mutilate, or dispose of batteries in re.
● Use only alkaline batteries, type AA (LR6).
● Do not mix new and old batteries.
● Remove the bat teries if they are worn out or before storing your device for an extended period of time.
Do not leave bat teries in the A A batter y holder when it is not installe d in the controlle r.
● If a battery leaks, remove all batteries, taking care to keep the leaked uid from touching your skin or clothes. If uid from the battery comes into contact with skin or clothes, ush skin with water
immediate ly. Before inserting new bat teries, thoroughly clean the batter y compar tment with a damp paper towel, or follow the bat tery manufacturer ’s recommendations for cleanup.
● Dispose of batteries in accordance with local and national disposal regulations, including those
governing the recover y and recycling of waste elec trical and electronic equipment (W EEE).
3
Remove Controller Batteries on Aircraft
Before boarding any aircraft or packing the wireless controller in luggage that will be checked, remove the batteries from the wireless contro ller. The wireles s controller can transmit radio frequenc y (RF) energy, much like a cellular telephone, whe never batteries are installed.
Hearing Loss
Extended exposure to high volumes when using a headse t may result in temporary or permanent hearing loss. Som e third-par ty headse ts may produce higher sound levels than compatible Microsof t headset s.
Choking Hazard
This device may contain small parts which may be a choking hazard to children under 3. Keep small parts
away from children.
Important Health Warnings About Playing Video Games
Photosensitive Seizures
A very small percentage of people may experience a seizure when exposed to certain visual images,
including ashing lights or patterns that may appear in video games. Even people who have no history of
seizure s or epilepsy may have an undiagnosed condition that can cause these “photosensitive epileptic seizure s” while watching video games.
These seizures may have a variety of symptoms, including lightheade dness, altered vision , eye or face twitching, jerking or shaking of arms or le gs, disorie ntation, confusion, or momentary loss of awareness. Seizure s may also cause loss of consciousness or convulsions that can lead to injury from falling down or striking nearby objec ts.
Immediate ly stop playin g and consult a doc tor if you experience any of these symptoms. Parents should watch for or ask the ir children about the above symptoms — children and teenagers are more likely than adults to exp erience the se seizures. The risk of photosensitive epileptic seiz ures may be redu ced by taking the following precautions:
● Sit farther from the television screen.
● Use a smaller television screen.
● Play in a well-lit room.
● Do not play when you are drowsy or fatigued.
If you or any of your relatives have a history of seizures or epilepsy, consult a doctor before playing.
4
Musculoskeletal Disorders
Use of game controllers, keyboards, mice, or other electronic input devices may be linked to serious injuries
or disorders. When playing video games , as with many activities, you may experience occasional discomfor t in your
hands, arms, shoulders, neck, or other parts of your body. However, if you experience symptoms such as persis tent or recurring discomfort, pain, throbbing, aching, tingling, numbness, burning sensation, or
stiffness, DO NOT IGNORE THESE WARNING SIGNS. PROMPTLY SEE A QUALIFIED HEALTH PROFESSIONAL,
even if symptoms occur when you are not playing a video game. Symptoms such as these can be associated with painful and sometimes permanently disabling injuries or disord ers of the ner ves, muscles, tendons , blood vessels, and other parts of the body. These musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) include carp al tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, tenosynovitis, vibration syndromes, and other condition s.
While rese archers are not yet able to answer many question s about MSDs, th ere is general agreement that many factors may be linked to their occurrence, including medical and physic al conditions, stress and how one copes with it, overall health, and how a per son positions and uses their body during work and other activities (including playing a vide o game). Some studie s suggest that the amount of time a per son performs an activity may also be a fac tor.
Some guidelines that may help you work and play more comfortably and possibly reduce your risk of experie ncing an MSD can be found in the Healthy Gaming Guide (available at www.xb ox.com). These guideline s address topics such as:
● Positioning yourself to use comfortable, not awkward, postures
● Keeping your hands, ngers, and other body parts relaxed
● Taking breaks
● Developing a healthy lifestyle
If you have questions about how yo ur own lifest yle, activ ities, or medical or physical condition may be
related to MSDs, see a qualied health professional.

Radio and TV Interference Regulations
The Microsoft hardwar e device(s) can radiate RF energy. If not ins talled and used in strict accordance with
the instructions given in the printed documentation and/or on-screen help les, the device may cause
harmful interferen ce with other radio-communications devices (for example AM/FM radios, te levisions , baby monitors, cordless phones, etc). There is, however, no guarantee that RF interference will not occur in a particular installation.
To determine if your hardware device is causing interference to other radio- communications devices, disconne ct the device from your computer or remove the device’s batteries (for a batter y operated device). If the interference stops, it was probably caused by the device. If the interference continues af ter you disconne ct the hardware device or remove the batteries, turn the computer off and then on again. If the interference stopped when the comp uter was off, che ck to see if one of the input/output (I/O) devices or one of the computer’s internal accessory boards is causing the problem. Disconnec t the I/O devices one at a time and see if the interferen ce stops.
If this hardware device does c ause interference, tr y the followin g measures to correct it:
● Relocate the antenna of the other radio-communications device (for example AM/FM radios, televisions,
baby monitors, cordless phones, etc.) until the inter ference stops.
● Move the hardware device far ther away from the radio or TV, or move it to one side or the other of the
radio or TV.
● Plug the computer into a different power outlet so that the hardware device and radio or TV are on
different circuits controlled by dif ferent circuit breakers or fuses.
● If necessary, ask your computer dealer or an experienced radio-TV technician for more suggestions.
For more information about interference issues, go to the FCC Web site at: http://ww w.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfact s/inter ference.html. You can also call the FCC at 888-CALL FCC to request Interference and Telephone Interference fact sheets.
