Designed for discerning listeners, the XRT29 Loudspeaker System
delivers performance without compromise in virtually any listening
environment. The shallow depth of the extruded aluminum column
housing provides great flexibility in placement choices without sacrificing
musical integrity. Optional self-supporting pedestals or structural in-wall
installation kits are available in addition to the standard on-wall mounts.

Each XRT29 contains 30 – 4" extended excursion mid-range drivers
and 25 – 1" soft-dome tweeters all arranged in three parallel columns.
The design of the three parallel columns of speakers in each XRT29
results in a symmetrical horizontal polar response for superior imaging,
limits early floor and ceiling reflections and provides unequalled
power handling capability.

Engineered for performance, designed for versatility, the McIntosh
XRT29 will enhance the enjoyment of the audio experience in both
home theater and pure music systems.

Many of today’s speakers

are designed only for home

theater. Not so with the XRT29

Loudspeaker System, designed

also for the flawless

reproduction of music.

While the explosions, screams

and crashes so common in

today’s movies require wide

dynamic range and high sound

pressure levels, they are so

masked with noise that even

a speaker with moderate

distortion can reproduce them

with little audible distinction.

Music, however, while

sometimes dynamic is

always harmonious. Accurate

reproduction of music

demands the lowest levels

of both harmonic and

intermodulation distortion.

Each driver and crossover

component has been carefully

designed for low distortion

to ensure that the system

is able to reproduce all sounds

accurately, from bombastic

movie effects to the delicate

nuances and detail in music.

EXTRUDED ALUMINUM ENCLOSURE

An extruded aluminum enclosure
with solid aluminum end plates
forms the body of the column.
This creates an extremely strong
and durable enclosure.

GOLD PLATED BINDING POSTS

Three pairs of gold plated
binding posts allow for bi-amping
or tri-amping. Gold plating is
chosen because of superior
corrosion resistance.

PATENTED LD/HP TECHNOLOGY

The McIntosh woofers and
midrange drivers feature a
patented LD/HP motor structure.
This design uses aluminum
shorting rings at both ends of
the pole piece to extend and
linearize the magnetic field
around the voice coil. Distortion
is reduced by 10dB or more.

SHIELDED MAGNETIC FIELD

The XRT29 may be used in
home theater installations near
a television receiver or monitor.
Shielding around the drivers
ensures that the speaker
magnets will not interfere
with the quality of the picture.

HIGH POWER HANDLING

Drivers and crossover components
are chosen for high-power
amplifiers up to 1200 watts
for the complete system.

HIGH EFFICIENCY DRIVERS

Even the smallest McIntosh
power amplifiers provide sound
pressure levels in excess of
100dB at 1 meter.

TWO-WAY DESIGN

The design consists of
twenty-five 1" tweeters,
thirty 4" midrange drivers.

VERSATILE PLACEMENT

On-wall mounting brackets are
supplied with the XRT29. The
on-wall brackets allow for surface
mounting on a wall or other
flat surface. An optional in-wall
mounting kit enables installation
within a wall or other enclosure
and optional base stands provide
support for freestanding on the floor.
