Load test ammetert
1.0 Introduction
The iPATCH performs the power cable patch interface between installed lighting fixtures and
the dimming equipment controlling the fixtures. Each patch circuit is internally wired and has
a 1.5metre flexible lead fitted with a Australian 3 pin piggy back plug.
Extra patch circuits can be added at any time after installation (space permitting) to increase
the total number of patch circuits. Four cable knockout holes are provided in the rear chassis
for cable entry/exit.
The iPATCH has a removable front cover which contains a test circuit for testing of fixture
loads on the patch circuits. The iPATCH is available in two chassis sizes;
•iPATCH 48; available with a minimum of 24 circuits, increasing in 6 circuit increments to a
maximum of 48 circuits.
•iPATCH 72; available with a minimum of 54 circuits, increasing in 6 circuit increments to a
maximum of 72 circuits.

2.0 Installation
This installation procedure is intended as a guide for the installer, as variations will occur
depending on the installation location. All wiring must be performed by a licensed electrician.
1. Remove the four screws holding the front cover of the iPATCH to the rear chassis and
remove the cover.
2. Determine where the load circuit wiring will enter/exit the rear chassis and remove the
required cable knockouts.
3. Install the rear chassis onto the desired flat surface using the mounting holes provided.
4. Terminate the load wiring into the supplied screw terminal strips starting with circuit
number one (1). Ensure the Active and Neutral load wires are correctly terminated into
the label side of the terminal strip. See Figure 1 below. The earth wires are terminated
into the Line taps located above the terminal strips.

5. Connect power (Active, Neutral, Earth) to the test circuit power connector.
6. Replace the front cover (ensuring that the test circuit plug is connected into the test
circuit power connector socket on the rear chassis) and secure with the four screws
removed in step1.

3.0 Using the Test circuit
The iPATCH has an integrated test circuit built into the chassis. This circuit can be used to
verify new installation wiring and test individual fixture loads. Warning – The test circuit is
rated for a maximum load of 10 Amps.
1. Make sure the load circuit breaker is switched “off”.
2. Plug the chosen circuit lead into the test socket.
3. Switch the load circuit breaker to the “on” position.
4. The load current will be displayed on the ammeter.
