Insert the Houston software CD into your computer.
Run the Houston v2xx Installer programme by double clicking on the icon.
Follow the prompts, preferably selecting the default settings.
Then run the Houston Dongle Installer programme. Follow the prompts,
preferably selecting the default settings.
If your Firewall software asks permission to accept connections answer YES
otherwise Houston will no t operate.
Plug in the HASP Dongle to a USB port and wait for automatic installation.
Start Up:
To run the Houston software click on the Houston icon located under
• Start Menu
• All Programs
• LSC
• Houston.
Configuration:
Before using Houston you must configure an IP address for the Houston
software and assign a Com port fo r the LNET/USB interface . These t asks are
done from the Network menu item located below the Title Bar.
1) Setting an IP address.
Go to the Network menu and select the
Config option.
Set the Hardware address to a unique
number. We suggest using 10.0.0.201
then press the Save button.
If you have multiple copies of
Houston software running on a single
network then each copy needs a
unique IP address. We suggest using a
series of numbers such as 10.0.0.202
then 10.0.0.203, etc.

2) Connecting to a Com port.
Go to the Network menu and select
the Connection option.
Choose the Com port that the
LNET/USB is connected to from the
drop down list. Make sure that the
Null Modem box is unchecked.
Press the Connect button. Check
that the Status box says Connected
and then press the Close button.
If Houston is configured and installed correctly then the following screen will
appear. The Green Status light shows that everything is working properly.

If the LNET/USB device is not found then the following information will be
displayed. Please refer to the fault finding section at the end of this guide for
more information.
Operation:
There are three main tabs used for op eration.
1) Devices
2) Alarms
3) Log
Devices:
The Devices tab lists all the LSCnet
devices connected to the network.
This list is automatically updated
within a few seconds of any new
device being added to the network.
Alarms:
The alarm tab shows all current active
alarms.
Alarms are also shown in the top LCD
screen which is always visible. This
screen also allows you to
ACKnowledge active alarms and scroll
thru the list of alarms.

Log:
The Log tab displays a complete list of
all system events that have occurred,
complete with the time and date of the
event. This is invaluable for fault
finding problems with the system, as
the user can go back and see all the
errors that have occurred and the
exact time they occurred.
View Options:
The grid can be resized and sorted to suit the users requirements. Resizing is
performed in a similar manner to an Excel spreadsheet. Move the mouse to the
edge of the title cell and make sure the cursor changes to a symbol.
Then hold down the mouse button to resize the cells.
To change the sort order of cells just click in the title cell of the item you wish
to sort by. The grid will now sort by that column in ascending order. To sort in
decending order click in the title cell a second time.
