2.OVERVIEW AND CAUTIONS
The T- Brid ge can fit onto many popular guitars eq ui pp ed with t une- o- matic-st yl e bridges wit hout the ne ed for se ri ous modification to the instrument. I t requires ap pr oximately .120 " to .200 " of clea rance below the bottom s ur face of the bridge for the wires. These instructions assu me that the installation will be performed on a guitar that is already set up to accept the phys ic al d im en si on s an d po st s pa ci ng o f th e br idge.
We recommend tha t this system be installed by a profes si on al dealer/installer. We do no t provide ins ta ll at io n advice or suppor t for home or hobbyist installations. Installers: please read the inst ru ct ions caref ully befor e proceeding. We will not be r es po ns ib le for any damage to th e guit ar or personal injury r es ul ti ng f rom installation, improper installat ion, use or misuse of the product.
3.INSTALLATION
1. Dr il l a 5/16" hole for the w ir es from directly beneath the center of th e bridge into the electronics cav ity. In some cases you can angle th e hole directly towards the cavity, alth ough you must be careful no t to intersect the pos t hol e. If you can not drill a straight ho le with ou t run ni ng into the post, another option is to dr il l a ho le int o the ma gn et ic pickup cavity and from there into the el ec tronics cavity ; in most c ases t here i s en ou gh room inside the pickup cavity for the wires .
2. B un dl e th e wi re s together and feed them into the electronics cavity.
3. A circu it boar d is provided with this bridge for the purpose of su mm in g together the si x pic ku ps into on e sin gl e mon o out pu t. These pickups may also be used hexaphonically, but this use is not describe d in t he se i ns truc tions.
4. Solder t he inner wi res of the coaxial cabl es to the rou nd solder pads on the ci rcuit board and the braided w ir es to the s quare pads as s hown in figure 1. You may need to strip the ends of the wires so th ey l in e up w it h th e so ld er p ad s on t he s um mi ng b oa rd before soldering.
5. To eliminate hum you must sh ie ld the circ ui t board. Peel off one sid e of the back in g from th e insulating tape and cover all of the signal/hot connections with it (see figure 2). Next, peel the backing from the copper sh ield in g t ap e and lay it over th e i ns ul at in g tape with the edges touching the ground pad on three sides; then solder those three edges of the copper tape to t he g round pa d as s ho wn i n figure 3. It's a go od i de a to insulate the bare co ax w ires that are loose inside the cavity with electri ca l ta pe o r si mi la r ma terial to avoid shorting something out.
6. Secure the s um mi ng board by appl ying t he double-sided white foam a dhesive to t he back side of t he b oard a nd then sticking it to a clean, flat surf ace inside the cavity.
7. For the final conn ection you may connect your bridge passively in stereo as shown in figure 4. This will pr ovide a separate volume control for the T-Br id ge on th e rin g contact of the stereo jack while leaving all the magnetic pickup functions as they are currently on th e tip of the stereo jack. To b e ab le to blend the T -B ri dge si gn al w it h th e ma gn et ic p ic ku ps i n mo no, th e br idge can b e connec te d us in g ou r Ct rl -X a ctive pr ea mp.
