3. INSTALLATION
1. The pickup and output harness plug into the preamp module. Be sure t ha t there's room to plug and unplug the pick up and output harness
before you stick the preamp in place.
2. Before you stick the preamp to the sid e of the guitar, care fu ll y consider its location an d be sure that the area is free of dust. After the des ir ed
location is found, put the two pieces of velcro together, if it's no t already done. Peel off the paper from one of the sticky si de s of the velcro and
stick it to the bac k of the pr ea mp, p ressing firmly to insure a good bond. Th en , with your chosen lo ca ti on in mi nd, remove the back ing from the
other side of the velcro and st ic k th e entire preamp in the desired location.
3. Prepare the guitar for the strapjack by dr il li ng a clean 1/2" hole i n the tailblock of the guitar using a step drill. It's a good idea to mask off the
area you are dr illi ng to avoid chipping the finish.
4. Remove the st rap ring from the end of the j ac k. There should still be a star wa sh er and locking nut on the midd le of the jack . Put the stra pjack
into t he pre-drilled 1/2" hole using th e nut a nd star washer a s a d ep th guide. The jack s ho ul d stick o ut enough to tighten the st rap ring on to the
threaded bar rel of the jack. Once th e depth is se t and the b ar rel is in the hole, screw the stra p ring onto the barrel until t he assembly is tigh t. Use
caution when tightening the strap ring so you don't crack the finish.
5. I ns ta ll t he L B6 S erie s pi ck up, us ing th e in st ruct ions provided with the pickup.
6. P lu g th e pi ck up a nd t he o ut pu t ja ck i nto the preamp.
7. Secure the ou tput jack wire to the inside of the guitar wit h two of the peel-and-stick cable pl atforms prov ided. Choose a loc ation for the
platform between the pickup and preamp several inches away from t he p ic ku p. I f th ere is a s ec ur e br ace th at t he w ir e wi ll c ro ss, leav e a li tt le s lack
in the wire so it does not touch the brac e.
4. USER'S GUIDE
The Micr od ri ve II b y itself has no user controls. The outp ut level has been set to the -10dB standard when partnered with L B6 Seri es pickups. T he
Microdrive II preamp is designed to interface with almost any piece of outboard gea r. The output jac k acts as the switch: plug it in an d it's on,
unplug it and it' s off. The easiest way to check the batter y is to plug in to yo ur rig and play very hard on the lower strings. I f the sound is cl ea n,
your batter y is fine. If the tone is fuzzy, drop in a fresh one.
