Gain is no t vol ume. Gai n is the amount of am plifi catio n t hat i s appli ed to an in put sign al to boost it to a usefu l l ev el. To a ccomo date a w ide range
of picku ps, act ive de vices and such , th e Gi gpro has adju stable ga in. The idea is to adjus t th e ga in to find a wi ndow betwe en hiss and distorti on.
For instanc e, if you are using a low output passive pickup suc h as the Ribb on Transducer, and yo u fail to turn the gain way up, yo u will nee d to
turn the PA up s o hi gh to hear the pick up t hat there will be a lo t of hiss . Convers ely, if y ou pl ug in a high outp ut ac tive pick up and d o not tur n th e
gain way down, there will be ma ssive disto rti on. The Gi gpro is so quiet that t he gain windo w is fairly wid e. But there is a small er “sweet sp ot”
within it.
Here’s how to fi nd it: Wit h your Gigpro plugged into yo ur P.A. an d your pi ckup or devi ce plug ged in to it, play your inst rument very hard. Tu rn the
gain trim up (clo ckwis e) slowl y while p laying unti l yo u begin to he ar s ome distor tion, t hen bac k the gain of f (c ounter- cloc kwise ) until the
distor tion ju st di sappe ars. This s ettin g wil l be both the r iche st so unding and the m ost q uiet. Once you ha ve dete rmine d your prefer re d se tting, we
recomm end that yo u leave the gain contro l alone. D o not use the gain co ntrol as avol ume cont rol. Usi ng it in th is mann er will va ry the charac ter
of you r sou nd as you ad just it up and do wn.

USING PHANTOM POWER
It is imper ative that the phantom powe r swit ch be in the off posit ion when using any pick up or device that is
not specif icall y designe d to be used with phantom power. Havi ng the pha ntom power on inappropr iately wil l
result in a t hin an d weak pi ckup sound. If your non- phantom -powera ble pi ckup sounds wimpy, be sure that the
Gigpro 's ph antom p ower sw itch is off.
