INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THE EQUIPMENT
WARNING: THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
Position
Partitions, walls, kitchen furniture etc. in close proximity to the unit must be of fireproof construction. When siting the unit, ensure that there is free airflow around and behind it. Ensure that the unit is positioned on a rigid, waist-high table or counter top, which is flat and level.
Electrical Requirements
Ensure that the supply is adequate for the unit to be installed. Stationary appliances must be positioned so that the plug is easily accessible.
All appliances with an electrical loading over 3kW must be connected to the supply by a qualified electrician. Appliances must be connected in accordance with Health and Safety at Work Acts, lEE regulations, BS codes of practice, Building Standards, Local Authority and Building Regulations etc. A suitable means of disconnecting such units from the supply must be provided, having at least 3mm contact separation in all poles.
All models have a 13 Amp plug attached to the supply lead. If the supply cord is damaged, the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person must replace it in order to avoid a hazard.
The wires in the supply lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:
GREEN & YELLOW: EARTH. BLUE: NEUTRAL. BROWN: LIVE.
As the colours of the wires in the mains supply lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:
1. The wire, which is coloured green and yellow, must be connected to the terminal that is marked
with the letter 'E' or is marked with the earth symbol , or is coloured green and yellow.
2. The wire, which is coloured blue, must be connected to the terminal that is marked with the
letter 'N' or is coloured black.
3. The wire, which is coloured brown, must be connected to the terminal that is marked with the
letter 'L' or is coloured red.
4. Fit a fuse to the plug to suit the amperage specified on the serial plate of the unit.
3
USER INSTRUCTIONS
Parts of this unit will become hot in normal use; therefore, suitable precautions must be taken to
avoid accidental burns.
The appliance should be positioned to minimise the possibility of accidental touching.
The boiler is manufactured from 304 (EN 1.4301) grade stainless steel and will therefore not
corrode. However, any inclusions or deposits in the water supply or other water vessel used to refill the boiler, may corrode inside the tank. It is essential that this boiler is cleaned with a mild detergent and rinsed thoroughly before use. Repeat this at regular intervals thereafter (see section on maintenance).
General Operation
Switching On
1. Plug the boiler in and switch it on at the mains. The green light will now illuminate to indicate
that there is power to the unit.
2. Fill the boiler to the maximum level - This is the lower edge of the top rib as indicated on the
boiler.
3. Position the lid and activate the boiler by turning the knob at the base of the unit in a clockwise
direction.
4. At maximum power setting and full capacity, the times taken to reach boiling point are :
LWB2 LWB4 LWB6
5. Once the unit has begun to boil, the knob can be turned anti-clockwise to reduce the power
input.
6. The boiler should never be run continuously at full power after boiling has started, as this will
cause it to boil dry.
Using the boiler
1. Place a cup, mug or pot directly under the tap.
2. Gently pull the tap lever forwards. Water will pour from the boiler. The tap will spring back
when released. CAUTION, Do not pull the lever too quickly or boiling water may splash.
3. As water is drawn off, less power is required so the simmer-stat can be turned down slowly.
4. Never allow the water level to drop to the level of the tap. If no water pours when operating the
tap, check the water level. If the level is low, fill the boiler immediately.
5. After topping up the boiler, the temperature of the water will drop. Turn the knob to maximum
again until boiling occurs; the input can then be reduced.
6. The water level should be checked at regular intervals. Adding small quantities of water at
regular intervals is more efficient than refilling the boiler when it is nearly empty.
7. NEVER ATTEMPT TO MOVE OR LIFT THE BOILER WHILE IT IS OPERATING.
8. To turn the unit off, turn the knob to the off position and switch the mains supply off at the wall
socket. The green light will then go out.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
To maintain your Lincat water boiler, the following points should be followed.
1. Before carrying out any maintenance on your water boiler disconnect it from the power supply and ensure that it is cold.
2. The build up of lime scale inside the water boiler can impair its performance and lead to component failure. To prevent this, regularly use a de-scaler that is suitable for use on a domestic kettle, such as Scale Away, which can be purchased from Lincat.
3. Wipe down the exterior of the water boiler with warm water containing a mild detergent – do not use wire brushes, steel wool or other abrasive materials as these will scratch the polished finish. Dry the surface with a soft cloth.
4. These boilers must not be cleaned using a water jet.
5. We recommend that all servicing, other than routine cleaning, be carried out by our authorised service agents. We will accept no responsibility for work carried out by other persons.
Boil dry protection.
This appliance is fitted with a thermal cut out device to protect the heating element. Should the appliance be allowed to boil dry, the cut out will operate and disconnect all power to the heating element and the control circuit. The green neon indicator will no longer be illuminated. Should this situation arise it will be necessary to follow the resetting procedure set out below.
Disconnect the appliance from the supply.
Empty any water from the tank. (A small amount will remain in the tank when the cut out operates). Invert the appliance and remove the single screw in the base plate. Remove the base plate. Press the reset button located on the heating element, (this is identified as the large brass nut on the underside of the tank base, containing four electrical connections), the reset is between the two lower connections. Fully reassemble the appliance before reconnecting to the supply.
